Legendary chef Daniel Boulud created his namesake Maison Boulud to reinterpret French classics. At his downtown Montreal restaurant, artisanal Quebecois products and local ingredients are used to craft modern dishes. We were taking our girlfriend to celebrate her 60th birthday. The service was impeccable and the sommelier recommended a California wine that was delicious. The food presentation was like eating art in a plate. My only criticism and it is perhaps my personal taste. The fish option on the lunch menu was skate wing. I found the fish to be a little chewy and not very flavour although the chef’s way of preparation was quite tasty. When it came time for desert, the plate for the birthday girl was beautiful. Overall a lovely experience and definitely recommended!

Nous sommes venus pour le brunch afin de souligner l anniversaire de mon copain. J ignorais que l horaire du brunch buffet se terminait si tôt. Déception à ce niveau.

Bien que très bon ce buffet ne comportait aucune particularités à laquelle je m attendais. Je déduis donc que le menu brunch est offert à grand prix et est le même qu on offre aux gens qui séjournent au Ritz. J hésiterais à recommander. J avais spécifié que je venais souligner un anniversaire. Curieusement la table à côté de la notre s est vu remettre un petit gâteau avec chandelle, très gentille attention à laquelle mon copain n a pas eu droit.

Ceci dit l accueil par la jeune hôtesse blonde était très accueillante. Sa collègue une jolie jeune fille noir avait un air malheureusement très antipathique aucun regards et sourire.

Une seconde visite ... pas certain. Note le plancher à la verrière était sale.

Very expensive brunch for not much food. Service was slow, and no discounts were given even though two guests had only a main course with no appetizer or dessert (which were included in the two-course menu, either/or). No refills on coffee or bread, relatively small portions, huge bill. The food itself was good (not outstanding, just good), with one exception: the mini-madeleines, served warm, were lovely.

The Ritz always have the best restaurants in their hotels based on my past experiences. The Maison was exceptional in all categories, and I was pleasantly surprised by the end of the night.

This is one of the best restaurants in Montreal that I have been too.  To start, Maison Boulud is located in the Ritz-Carlton with it's own door into the restaurant so there is no need to actually go through the hotel (even though if you've never been into a Ritz-Carlton, I would recommend just taking a quick tour).  As my Fiancée and I walked through the doors to Maison Boulud we were greeted by the people at the front desk.  Behind the front desk was a glass shelving unit filled with their wine selection (which is quite impressive).  The Maitre'd brought us to our table and as we walked through the restaurant and pass the open kitchen I was in awe.  The kitchen was immaculate and the chefs were hard at work.  We went on a Monday and their weren't many patrons so most of the tables were empty but we were set in the greenhouse which was beautiful as it was made entirely of glass so on a clear night you might be able to see the stars as you eat (depending on light pollution from the city).  We were set down and the wine waiter came over and showed us their selection of wines.  I was impressed to see that they had both affordable wines ($75 CAD) and some wines for people who are willing to spend a bit extra ($10,000 CAD).  We went with a 2011 Chateau Vilatte ($95 CAD) it was very good.  The one thing that impressed me most is the level of attentiveness that the wine waiter had, he never let our glasses go empty, nor did he with our sparkling water.  For our first course we shared the large charcuterie board with 5 selections and a side of pickled radish, daikon radish, and onion, and a side of whole grain mustard and toasted bread.  It was superb! Unfortunately I am only able to write 2000 characters but all-in-all this establishment is a gastronomic paradise.

Our experience here is always incredible. My fiancé and I came here on our first date. Since then it’s been our go-to restaurant for a romantic night out. The atmosphere is comfortable, classy but not pompous, and the food is consistently remarkable.

I treated my 30 year old grand daughter and her partner to dinner at Maison Boulud. they love eating out and cooking and so I felt they would like this Montreal experience. They live in Buffalo, New York. The service was amazing. The food was excellent. Portions generous. The amuse bouches and finishing touches after the meal were a delight. The price was very high with 2 bottles of wine, apps and desert (2 of us shared) with coffee. But I think for a once in a while expenditure it was good. I know my guests will remember it for a long time. Of particular note was the lamb served on a dish of peas/lentils which included both crushed and whole legumes in a mild sauce. Excellent and unusual.

Excellent experience as always.

Nice and comfortable setting in the middle of downtown but with an impression of being into a calm exotic setting. The receptionists are always welcoming, recognizing and using names of guests. Service is polite and considerate. And you get to say hi to distinguished members of the Montreal scene - including retired prime ministers.

We went special for the mushroom themed menu. The food and service was outstanding. We thought we were getting 3 courses for $75 but in fact we got 5-6 appetizers, a main course (large portion), a dessert and a small treat after the dessert. If you love mushrooms I highly recommend going before the mushroom event ends next week.
Valet parking included when you have dinner. Great service - You don’t feel rushed, so you get to enjoy a really nice dinner in a beautiful hotel restaurant...
if only the wine wasn’t so expensive .....

Food was delicious but tiny portions. Starter the size of two chocolates and main the size of a starter. Terrine of foie gras was excellent, the favor of the liver cake though strongly and the texture was creamy, but it was two bites. My wife had PEI oysters, fresh and delicious but very stale presentation with no originality. Her first choice, lobster gnocchi was out (at 7:30!), the lamb was perfectly done. I had cod and cuttlefish in ink, again excellent but minuscule servings. There was over a one hour wait between the starters and the main, ignored by our waiter.
A disappointment for C$480. This is the price for top level, food and service. That didn’t happen.

After the dinner this past weekend, I would be hard-pressed to recommend this restaurant. It's very expensive, so a mediocre meal is unacceptable. My veal was tough, to say the least. And the sauteed spinach was greasy. The dessert was non-descript. It looked nice, but had minimal taste. I have the impression that this restaurant is riding on the "Boulud" brand, but not living up to its standards. I feel badly about this since I do like his restaurants in NYC.

I have to say im very mitigated while writing this review.

We took the 8 service with the pairing to have the complete experience of what Maison Boulud has to offer.

First of all, the pairing was absolutely delightful. The timing of service between wine and food was off. Kitchen had a hard time to have a proper pace.

Also, few of the serving did not create any emotions as expected. First course was ''couteau de mer''. It was good, but nothing you expect when you walk out with a bill over 700$ for two. Same goes for the fish, we were serve a raw fish dish, was good but once again, nothing memorable.

The lobster gnocci and the veal we're absolutely amazing but we were expecting a mind blowing pace for the whole meal.

I have to say that the experience was absolutely comparable to what you get at the ITHQ restaurant for much cheaper.

It was imperfect with a few service flaws. This restaurant need to step up their games when you are spending this kind of money.
