Legendary chef Daniel Boulud created his namesake Maison Boulud to reinterpret French classics. We recently celebrated our anniversary at Maison Boulud at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Montreal, and the experience was truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out—Julian, our waiter, and Valentine, the guest manager, went above and beyond to make our evening special. The ambiance and decor are refined yet warm, creating the perfect setting for a romantic evening. Drinks, wine, and desserts were all exceptional. While the entrés and main course were good, though not quite extraordinary, the overall experience marked by impeccable service and attention to detail more than made up for it. Overall, beautiful dining for a special occasion. We will definitely be coming back! As well, a heartfelt thank you to Ricardo in the Hotel lobby for the warm send off and the fascinating history lesson—his pride in this iconic hotel made our visit even more special.

Outstanding 8 service menu & wine pairings. The “pâté en croûte” was heavenly!

The food was incredible. We had amazing breads that are to die for and the hamburger that was on the menu was the best hamburger I ever had. I highly recommend anyone to go to that restaurant it’s very elegant. The waiters were so nice especially to my grandma since it’s her birthday today. They wrote happy birthday in Spanish to her. Everything was perfect.

We went to Maison Boulud with very high expectations, anticipating an exceptional dining experience. While the service and some elements of the meal stood out, the overall experience fell short—especially given the nearly $500 price tag for the evening. We were seated in the solarium, which unfortunately proved to be an uncomfortable and quite loud space. It lacked the refined ambience you’d hope for at this level of dining, which impacted the overall atmosphere of the night. That said, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive and professional throughout. A particular highlight was the bar service—exceptional in both quality and thoughtfulness. The bartender personally came to our table to suggest an alternative cocktail, and his recommendation was spot on. The oysters were a standout, fresh and beautifully presented. However, I was expecting a warm pâté en croûte and was surprised to find it served chilled. For mains, we had the new guinea fowl and duck goulu—both nicely prepared, but nothing that truly wowed. In the end, while it was a pleasant evening and the food was good, it didn’t quite deliver on the elevated experience we were hoping for. At this price point, I’m not sure I would recommend it.

So awesome we canceled our reservation for the next night so we could come back! They were very accommodating for a lactose free guest and the food was spectacular. An amazing sommelier (Stephanie). Try the duck - outstanding!
