Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great wine recommendation. Moved us to a better table without being prompted. Food was outstanding. Beautiful building and interior.
Only issue was that the noise level was a bit high. Just other client conversations.
Wonderful for our 42nd Anniversary!
O&B does it again.
Love the burger an fries!!!! Would absolutely return!
Our server did not know the menu. I had to remind him of the special that was advertised on their website for Sunday. He got our drinks wrong. It was an overall a very bad experience
Great night out. O&B has another hit on their hands
Lovely evening with great food & drink 🍽🍽🍽🍷🍷🍷
This was my sixth visit since it opened. I love that it is in my neighbourhood, a block from Rosedale 🌹🌹🌹
Food was good, although the portions were small/not filling, which I expected from this type of dining. Server was attentive but not intrusive and gave my party plenty of time to chit chat and finish the bottle of wine we had ordered.
We found the Selby very pricy but the food is good. Dinner with a bottle of inexpensive wine, one appetizer, two cocktails, two mains, two desserts was $265. Tables are the size of those found in a sandwich shop, and are far too small for this high priced dining where you need room for all the dishes/glasses. It was a birthday dinner and desert was dropped off at the table with a candle. There was no "Happy Birthday" or have a "nice day" greeting. When we arrived just before 6 the restaurant was almost empty. They took us to the most hidden table in a side room where the traffic to the patio had to constantly pass. We asked for another table and it appeared complicated for them. We were given another table at the entrance where my partner was seated outwards into the path of constant passing wait staff. We were there for approximately an hour an a half and the surrounding tables remained empty. We felt like they wanted to keep us hidden and out of the way and didn't want us seated at their better table locations. We noticed two straight couples coming in about 30 minutes after us and they were seated immediately at the best and larger tables. We made the reservation two months in advance so it wasn't because it was a last minute seating for us. Also I was informed that dinner seatings were only at 6 and 8 and I could only change my reservation to 8 when I inquired about about a 6:30 reservation. This indicated to us that the two straight couple probably arrived without a reservation and were given the best table seating. Also, we were not dressed like bums; we were upscale casual and better dressed than most. Next time we will go to the Keg; at least they acknowledge your birthday with a complimentary dessert.
Amazing French onion soup! Great portion of pasta! Would recommend!
Menu was not seasonal at all, no specials or anything fitting for a July evening. Food was good but very heavy.
Had brunch. Food and drinks serving time was relatively slow. But the tastes and quality are outstanding.
I'd wanted to try out the Selby as I live in the neighbourhood and it's a nice addition. The patio looks great too. The food was very good and although it's a bit pricier than most places for brunch, the portions were generous. Also, the service was friendly and attentive. I loved the décor and I want to go back to see the speakeasy downstairs. My only complaint is that it's very loud.
Great waitress . Good food .
Noisy - old building .
Perfect every time! I love it here. Never leave Selby!
I recommend a visit to Maison Selby. The restored mansion is something to see and the food is delicious.
I went on a Thursday for lunch with two other friends. Great food as expected. I had duck confit. Maison Selby is a great spot for lunch at Yorkville quality.
Start to finish, Maison Selby exceeded my expectations.
Will definitely be going back.
Food was delicious and our server Olivia was extremely friendly and made the perfect recommendations for our first time at the restaurant. Will definitely be back!
Really pleasant spot in a neighbourhood that had no good options before Maison Selby opened. Food is vaguely French, conventional and competent, and comparable to Cluny in quality and price. Suitable for multigenerational celebrations, catching up with friends, or intimate dinner for two. Not a place for a serious business conversation. Superb staff, and the colourful historic rooms all have an unusual ambience I'd call relaxed and sophisticated fun, all of which almost elevate it to the outstanding level. I'd say it's very very good. Serious foodies will be sniffy, but everyone else will have a wonderful evening.
Went to Maison Selby with my wife for Brunch. I got the French Onion Burger with French Fries and it was amazing! The burger is amazingly juicy and very tasty, and the fries were crisp and came with a mouthwatering sauce! My wife got the Eggs Hemingways and she was really happy that the salmon was very fresh.
We wanted to try the French Onion Soup but it was only on the Lunch and Dinner Menu so maybe we’ll try it next time.
Overall, it is definitely a must-try.
Food was good as was service. Was far too noisy, ordered appetizers and decided to eat dinner elsewhere. Four friends in early 30s and we had a headache when we left.
We have been on a search for the best french onion soup in Toronto - they did an excellent job. Steak frites was beautiful - filet perfect, crispy fries with a side of taragon dip. Best creme brulee I have ever had!!
Loved the decor too!
(Watch out for the soap dispensers in the bathroom, they are angled at such a way that the soap shoots straight out at you. Got it all over my pants.)
Beautiful setting, delicious food and excellent service!
First time visiting Maison Selby after following them on Instagram and I was no disappointed. We started with the escargot which was solid. I had a nigroni which with perfect and my husband had a glass of Syrah. My nigroni was perfect.
For our mains, I had the Tuna Salad Nicoise and husband had the Beef Tartar with fries. The fries were divine and I probably ate half of them (I just couldn’t stop). My salad was A-1, great flavour and the tuna was cooked perfectly.
We will return!
Delicious French comfort food served in a beautiful setting.
Best French restaurant in town!!
Food was scrumptious , decor is amazing, plates and cutlery adorable, serving staff and even hostess went beyond what I expected!!
Only one complaint... the tables are too small.
Kudos to chef John Horne and his team for really hitting a home run with every plate and every detail!!
Tres bien mes amies!!
Maison Selby is a charming restaurant se in a beautifully restored turn-of-the-century mansion. The staff was warm and welcoming and the food was outstanding. I found the lunch menu to be a bit overpriced. There are issues with the noise level but I asl know they are aware and are working on it. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.
There was only one server for a large area so the poor server was extremely busy trying to get food to people. The construction of the Gouda burgers needs to be rethought, it was super messy. Frites has too much seasoning. Overall the ambiance was lovely.
Great food but the service was very slow. It shouldn’t take 45 minutes to get our meals when there are only 2 other tables in the restaurant being served. The food is delicious and made with lots of love and the decor is outstanding. Great atmosphere!
Excellent service, beautiful decor and flavourful very well done food. What more can you ask for!!
Took my dad here for Father’s Day and a great time was had by all! Friendly servers, great food, and drinks.
Great vibes and fantastic cozy ambiance. Love the decor and friendly servers.
It was just ok. Nothing special for the price. Better food and value elsewhere.
A bit noisy but everything else was terrific.
First visit and we’ll be back. Service was excellent......our waitress had long red hair and was exceptional. Many thanks to her for helping to make the evening special. The mixed drinks from the bar were as perfect as it gets.....excellent bartender! Really enjoyed the food as well. Beautiful renovation.
The wait staff were great. Chef did well accommodating the food allergy. Nice to see this old gem fixed up.
The only thing that was a let down was the music. In our minds. When we seen it's french cusine..we thought it'd be nice. Thought the experience would he complete with french style music.
Maybe then my meal would have felt more french. Otherwise it was just an up scale evening and food. Let down by not having that completed experience. I get a more satisfying immersive experience at france epcot disneyworld.
But don't let you deter from going at all.
Service and food was great.
The dining room is too noisy and I am sure with the addition of carpets and perhaps drapes this could be remedied.
The menu is too winter oriented. Most of us on a summer evening would not choose onion soup, coq au vin or boeuf Bourgignon.
I had a salad and before I could even eat half of it our main courses arrived! But bless the waiters they did take them back to the kitchen.!
Outstanding culinary experience from the welcoming arrival from the greeter and Jane, our server to our departure. This is my 2nd visit and I will return!
First time dining at Maison Selby. Will definitely return! Might have been the primary server's first job, he wasn't talented at timing the service and called up the main courses too soon. However, they were not brought to the table. Another charming person came to the table and advised us once we had all completed our appetizers that the main courses would be arriving in a couple of minutes because they wanted to make fresh new ones as they had been originally made too soon. We had no idea! They should have kept quiet and we wouldn't have known the difference. The French Onion soup is the finest I have had in years. I have to have it again! The Bouef Bourgignon was beautifully presented on a bed of creamy whipped potatoes, with crunchy potato curls placed delicately on top. A side of fresh steamed spinach added the requisite vegetable and colour to this delicious dish. Dessert was a light and smooth creme brulee. We had a bottle of Farm Black Label Pinot Noir from the Niagara region. It was a perfect accompaniment to the beef. At $68 it was one of the cheapest on the extensive wine menu. Not unusual for an O&B establishment. The menu was varied, fish, chicken, lamb. Plenty to sample for return visits. The dining areas are various rooms in the Victorian mansion. Ours was cozy, with a fireplace, plenty of windows for daylight and a comfortable temperature. Noise levels are very low. Best of all - I can walk to the restaurant from my condo in 10 minutes! It's great to have a gem like this in my neighbourhood! I'm sure it will be there for many years!
Terrific! Thank you for such a lovely evening and cozy corner. Super special place and we will keep coming back!
Went to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The service was spotty.
Had to pour our own wine all night. Appetizers were all very good from what we ordered, but the mains were just ok.
