Maison Selby is an all-day dining destination for weekday breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Largely inspired by the bistro and café genre, Maison Selby celebrates timeless French cooking with a modern accent, and offers an impressive list of hand-crafted cocktails. Tucked away downstairs, guests will discover Sous Sol, an underground speakeasy and cocktail bar featuring a curated list of original cocktails.
Great new restaurant location and service. Food was good and accommodated for allergies and special requests.
The food, cocktails and wine were great. The service was excellent. Surprisingly the Chefs Tasting menu was sold out by 7:30. The biggest issue was the table we were seated at was quite small. Two menus barely fit with our drinks on the table. And it was really tight with a bottle of wine and food. Other than that is was a good night.
Amazing food, cocktails, service and beautiful atmosphere. Will be back for sure.
Service was great, which is always one of the hallmarks of an O & B restaurant. Even though Maison Selby has not been open that long, the staff seemed to have the processes down well. We only had one oops - my husband ordered an Americano after dinner and received an Espresso instead, but this was rectified very quickly. The wait staff were charming. The food was excellent - best onion soup and Creme brûlée that we have had in a long time.
Had a crepe that had clearly been made earlier that day instead of made to order - it was dry, thick and flour-y. Sticky toffee pudding is a pass.
Decided to try Maison Selby for our Easter brunch. Great decision. Our server, Thomas, was amazing. He even took me down the elevator, thru the kitchen, to the washroom. I appreciated it delicious much. It was also nice to be able to tell the kitchen what a nice brunch we had.
Everything was great! Service was outstanding! Food was very good indeed.....
Can hardly wait to come back and try some more of the menu!
Very friendly..like you had known them for years....
A great new establishment :)
A must try! Start by a drink at their speakeasy downstairs before dinner. Super cozy room and great cocktails. As for the dining room, the decor is superb, food is amazing and service is very attentive and friendly. Thank you Thomas and Joseph for a great evening. Once again, a must try!
Excellent cuisine expertly prepared . Will definitely return and going to try brunch too
Visited during soft opening, nice decor and cozy setting, lovely historic building. A little under staffed but probably still working things out. Food is beyond expectation and price is reasonable. Great overall, will return!
It was for my mom’s birthday. She loves O&B restaurant so this was a new and wonderful experience
Definitely will return
Beautiful decor. Delicious dinner and drinks. Steak frites, oysters, and hazelnut chocolate layer cake. Amazing!
I wrote the longest review ever on Yelp and I ran out of space to talk about the desserts. I’m Amuised on Yelp if you want to read it.
O&B never disappoint! Fantastic food and service. I grew up in this neighbourhood and I’m so happy with how the mansion was restored right down to the architectural details. The decor is exquisite!
There’s no signs of an old gay - bath house like - bar downstairs! The Speakeasy is rich in decor and ambience.
It is a great place. The restaurant has a very nice feel to it. Romantic and nicely decorated.
The food was excellent! In terms of the appetizers, especially the steak tartare was just sublime. I loved it.
For entrees the coq au vin and the lamb were excellent as well.
All in all I loved the restaurant and will definitely be back
The food was excellent, the best french onion soup I've had.
We went recently to celebrate my sisters birthday, we all loved everything about the experience. Our waiter went above and beyond to accommodate our super fussy eating 5 3/4 year old niece. And was very helpful in general.
Two of us had the Coq au vin, which was divine, one had the bouef Bourguignon which was delicious and one had the mussels, which were great too. We all had dessert, my favourite, sticky toffee pudding !
The welcome cocktails were an added bonus, I really enjoyed my Hemmingway Daiquiri.
They have done a really good job renovating the space, the tables were just the right space between that you didn’t feel on top of others. And we also enjoyed the bar downstairs Sous sol. Although it’s a bit small so don’t know what it would be like if it was full.
Great service. Good ambiance. Dynamite food. Great for a formal occasion or a night out with friends.
Overall great experience, but the table and space we was lacking. Pretty small table and our knees kept hitting eachother.
Our server WAS AMAZING we would have blown our entire paycheck if we weren't so full.
When we go there again I will request a table at the window in the floral room or in the bar area.
The decor is beautifully rendered. The food was very good although the sole was over-cooked and a bit salty. The biggest downside was the level of the music, which we asked to have turned down twice. It's at decibel bar level (where we were placed) and resulted in our having to shout at each other. Fix that level or you will not get any of the older crowd in the nearby condos. We were taken on a brief tour of the Sous Sol speakeasy bar in the basement: it looks cute, if a bit small, and perhaps could be a fire trap, given its single entrance. Still, Maison Selby is the best thing in the 'hood and I hope to go back.
Food choices - varied and very good - great service - waiter understood the menu and provided solid guidance on food and wine.
My husband and I visited Maison Selby with my daughter and her partner as part of their opening special where the dining party received free cocktails and 25% off the food. The restaurant serves French Bistro classics. We all really enjoyed our drinks and food which included the salmon, frites, Coq au Vin and the French Onion Burger and a shared dessert of sticky toffee pudding. The food was well prepared and flavourful. Service was slow but I am cutting them slack as they had just opened. The decor of the restaurant in a restored old home was lovely and felt intimate. If the music was quieter it would be a great place for a romantic dinner. It’s a little pricey without the discount but I will definitely go back for a special occasion.
We had a party of 6 for dinner and were seated in the lovely, windowed side room over-looking Sherbourne. Fantastic table. Our first drinks took nearly 20 minutes...not a great start! The two appetizers we ordered were served 10 minutes apart from each other. Not good either! The mains arrived mostly together, strangely enough we waited longest for the salmon which required barely any cooking. The presentation was excellent, the music was a little loud, but we could certainly hear each other. Overall it was a great experience and we do look forward to returning and bringing more friends. Especially since we live next door!
How wonderful to have a French Bistro near Sherbourne and Bloor St East. It's about time, and it's even better than expected as it's done right. Beautiful dining setting with red roses wallpaper in a heritage building. There are other rooms as well. The service is flawless of course. A big thank you to our server Thomas and a special thank you to Ashley for making our dining experience truly memorable.
A true class act!!
The food is French bistro with a modern twist, but it's satisfying and excellent.
The French onion soup is to divine. period.
The mains of Boeuf Bourguignon and Coq au Vin brought back memories of France.
We look forward to dining here in the future.
If you have a minute, check out the speakeasy bar downstairs called Sous Sol. It's a superb space if looking for a small space for 25 or so people. It has to be seen!!! WOW!
By the way, save room for dessert!
French Onion Soup had no broth at all. It was all soggy cheese and bread, and the waitress said this is how it was supposed to be. Disappointed.
We tried the tasting menu, out of the five courses, The soup and the fish is outstanding. it was full of flavour and tasty. However I would say the dessert is a bit disappointing. I expected something more handcrafted rather than just bring the whole plate from the fridge, the sauce is frozen too.
Excellent dinner at this new restaurant. Service was great. French onion soup was very tasty. The bread is worth the additional cost for a treat. Streak and fish were both excellent and the frites perfect.
Unique setting. Will be back for brunch. Menu looks delicious.
A true addition to the neighbourhood
The restaurant itself and ambiance is lovely inside. Service was good even though it was very busy. We didn’t love our cocktails and the food was just okay. Fries were delicious. It wasn’t a bad experience, it just wasn’t great and this city has so many amazing places to go to.
We were looking forward to tasting the french cuisine, but have not noticed is brunch only on weekends,
we would have prefer a more classic french menu for lunch also available.
From beginning to end we had a great experience. Ambiance, service, food and wine outstanding!
We were there on the first Saturday night after opening of this new restaurant. Yes they were still trying to work out some of the finer details such as music volume but surprisingly put together for only their 4th dinner service.
Food was pretty much what you'd expect from an O&B restaurant. We had the beef tartare which was very tasty. Also had the coq au vin and the steak frites for mains which were also great. Cocktails are really something special and if you have the time check out the hidden cocktail/speak-easy bar in the basement (may only be open Thurs - Sat).
Can't wait till patio season to try out the brunch menu while sitting outside. Might be tough getting a spot though.
I was excited to try Maison Selby and could not have been more disappointed.
Service was terrible - no offer to take coats and when we asked to have them taken, we were pointed to a coat stand; predinner drinks took a good 20 minutes sitting on the bar before delivered after we had to remind them; server denied the availability of beefeater gin although clearly available on the menu; dishes delivered to wrong people at the table.
Ambiance was bad - way too loud, tables and chairs uncomfortable; sous sol "speakeasy" dumb and undrinkable drinks.
Food was overpriced and no better than my teenage kids could whip up. Salad leaves and walnuts was their choice of salad. $39 lamb was 3 small gristle-ey pieces.
Won't be going back
Top quality food with friendly service. We were there on the first Saturday and everything was clearly under control.
Amazing ambiance and beautiful design to Maison Selby. Service was exceptional and my partner and I really loved the Beef Tartare. We live up the street so we will definitely be repeat and regular customers!
The music was kind of loud. The entrance would preferred to have at the front instead of the side of building as reception is at the front. Currently, you have to go in the side door and up some stairs to get to reception. We're not sure but we think the washroom is next to the kitchen in the basement. All the servers have to pass the washroom to get in to the kitchen
Delicious French Onion Burger! Very attentive server. Hope to see a dessert menu introduced for Brunch.
