This was so amazing! Vernon the server was nothing but amazing. So so loved it
Whenever we visit Jasper, we always book a dinner or lunch at the Wilderness Kitchen. The food is delicious, the views are wonderful and the staff friendly. This time was no exception. We ordered the bison pate, pickled trout and the meat sampler. Everything was quite delicious. The only tiny issue was the Beef Brisket (which normally is the star of the show) was a tad overcooked, making it slightly dry. It was my birthday, so they created a small sampler with delicious Vanilla Ice Cream and a candle and served it to us with compliments from the house. Nice touch. Great restaurant and fabulous staff. Will go there again when it opens in the late Spring of 2022.
A must do if you visit Jasper. Great experience. The trout appetizer was perfectly tasteful. The Bison melts in your mouth. Just do it!
Enjoyed the Wilderness Sampler!! Everything was good except way too many fruit flies detracting from the experience an overall excellent score.
The dinner set was unique but approachable. Highlights were the gnocchi, green beans and brisket. Consider leaving room for the brownie.
We had the sample platter and all the mains were very good.
Such good vegan options! So impressed! Great job :)
Only thing that took away from the experience was the fruit flies. They were everywhere. This was our second time there in 6 weeks. Food was phenomenal.
excellent food, exceptional service in a great location
Good portions mixed with comfortable settings the platter was excellent mix of the menu. Only shortcoming was desert the choc serving a bit dry like yesterdays baking
overall highly recommend as the best we found in jasper
I really recommend the Buffalo hamburger and the soup of the day!
Everything about our visit was great. Our waitress was very friendly and answered several travel related questions for us. The food(most importantly) was fantastic.
There were flies indoor that we had to constantly guard our meat platter; some bbq meat was really really salty or very charred that were at editable… the waiter is very helpful and understanding though
We could not be more disappointed in a highly rated restaurant. We arrived on time for our 6 pm reservation and were seated promptly. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the restaurant was -which is surprising in these pandemic times. Our server was prompt in welcoming us and getting our initial drinks. Our server then recommended the wilderness platter so we ordered two for our group of 4. My daughter order the Boulder Salad for us all to share. Things went down hill from there. The salad arrived first - it’s served on a board which as you can imagine did not hold the vinaigrette. We watched the vinaigrette run off the side of the board as the server brought it towards the table. When putting it on the table the vinaigrette was leaking all over my daughter’s chair. Within moments the platters arrived. Everything from the green beans to the brisket to the salmon was ice cold. The fry bread was cold and tasted like what ever the bread was fried in was rancid. Our server, when this was brought to his attention, promptly took away the trays and told us this was very unusual. Within minutes our server returned with the exact same platters and again seemed surprised that the food remained cold. I suspect the kitchen staff put them under the warming lights and nothing else. At this point I indicated we would pay for the salad and drinks and that we would go elsewhere. Our server kindly cleared our tab. I would not recommend eating at this restaurant but I would recommend the walks that start in the restaurant parking lot. This place is expensive and you would be better off grabbing pizza and a beaver tail in Jasper.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent! We noted it was our honeymoon on the reservation and they acknowledged it the moment we walked in and provided us with champagne to celebrate! Our server Jen was awesome, very friendly, checked in at appropriate times and didn’t miss a thing. We had the wedge salad and the sampler platter, both which were great. The platter is such good value, you get a LOT of food and good way to try a lot of the items on the menu. We will be back next time we are in Jasper!
Nice location and setting at the Maligne Canyon. Service was excellent. Food was very good, slightly overpriced. Covid protocol was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.
Very much enjoyed the smoked trout appetizer and the brisket main, and our server Vernon was wonderful. I was seated to the left of the fireplace facing the window and had a nice view of the beautiful patio on a cool and damp day. I liked that the fire 'pits' were lit - so cozy. My one complaint is that I'd prefer not to see the menu/billing station, cleaning products and much other paraphernalia while looking out at the beauty view; maybe this visual clutter could be moved elsewhere - towards the back of the room by the heating tables.
Incredible food, excellent service, and an amazing view. Loved that we were able to enjoy a great meal check out the canyon afterwards. A must visit in Jasper.
Although each meat (salmon, briskett, chicken, beef rib) on the platter tasted really good, everything was served almost cold. So disappointing. Even the fries were not warm enough. I wouldn’t go back.
From the moment we entered until we left, we were treated like queens! My daughters birthday was greeted with sparkling wine and topped off with a sorbet desert! The platter was unbelievable. Soo much good food. The sauces were great but not necessary as each meat was flavourful. I would highly recommend this place. The staff are amazing.
We did go back for lunch the next day, however, but we’re turned away as they had a bus load of visitors. Perhaps the lack of staff that’s happening everywhere contributed. Overall awesome food and view.
They ran out of red wine. At a restaurant that serves mostly red meats. Hmmm. Food quality has gone down over the last few months too. Feel bad for the servers.
No better place to refuel after hiking the canyon!
Had an amazing night! On arrival the waiter for our table asked if we were celebrating anything, which we were. He then bought us out 2 complimentary glasses of champagne. He also walked us through the entire menu which was super helpful. Amazing restaurant with even better service!
The pickled trout came with three tiny pieces of fry bread. The trout and bread ratio would have been netter if there were more bread(double or more) or less trout. All smoked meat(we had the platter) were too dry(hard to chew and even crunchy) and too salty. It might have been better if there were more unseasoned veggies(or lightly seasoned) on the platter. The beans, gnocchi and fries were perfect but again, the ratio was unbalanced.
This place is hands down the most delicious place we’ve eaten in a long long time- don’t even look at other places just go here. I promise you will not regret
One of the best meals we’ve ever had.
Would highly recommend going to Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen.
It’s a beautifully decorated restaurant with great views and even better food.
Had lunch there 09/09/21. From previous reviews, sounded as if it was important to make a reservation, but when I called numerous times that morning, there was no answer.
Fortunately, when I asked reception at my hotel if they knew why the restaurant wasn’t answering or if it was closed, they weren’t aware of any problem, but made a reservation through Open Table. We arrived 30 minutes early and there were plenty of available tables, but staff seemed to be confused as to who was supposed to be checking us in. Bison Burger was good. I chose the Mac & Cheese as the included side order. Together so filling, I didn’t eat dinner. My husband had the brisket sandwich, which was good and the included side salad was delicious. We thought the coleslaw that came with our pricey lunches was awful. BTW, it’s not in the wilderness!
Went for an evening meal as we wanted somewhere atmospheric- not really available in Jasper itself. Had a fire table on the terrace overlooking the river with fab cocktails, starters and mains - oh and one dessert. We’ll, we had been walking hard.
Enjoyed it so much had lunch the next day too.
Great experience. The staff was excellent. The bison burger & beans were the best that I have ever had! Thank you!
Our family experience was amazing …. from the service (thanks Rio) to the food and the sound of the river running beside us! Would highly recommend eating at this location!!
The sampler platter was so delicious. We also had bison tartar which was good. My only negative comment, I wish the tartar and the order of fries was a bit bigger. They were tiny portions. Everything tasted great though.
Beautiful spot by the river to have lunch or dinner. Food was very good, view from the patio was fantastic, but the best part was our server Francis who was simply outstanding, friendly and professional.
Great atmosphere by the river. Good service. We loved the drinks. Great smoked meat. Loved the ribs. The smoked fish was so so.
Overall great experience and worth a visit.
Had wildernesses platter and like a virgin mock tail. Both were excellent and the service is also good. Would recommend to anyone if they want to try something extraordinary in jasper.
Although the food was tasty, the Wilderness Platter meal was cold! The salmon was raw and the fries appeared to be the last bits in the fryer!!
Very disappointing for the price and the fact that a friend highly recommended your restaurant.
Overall service was fair to good. Of 4 people, 2 had the same dish and 2 other dishes. The two dishes that were the same and 1 other were not worthy of a good rating nor worth the price. Those two were beef short rib - they were not slow cooked adequately. The fat was not rendered out through cooking and the meat was rare. A sharp steak knife would have been needed, but only a slightly serrated knife was available and it only allowed some sawing through the meat. A large amount of obvious fat was left on the plate, and there was no comment or question by the server. The chicken and dumplings were poor. The beet gnocchi was good and enjoyed.
We had a 530 pm seating, and there was virtually no amount of people that would mean our server could not attend to us appropriately for the menu and meal cost. Unfortunately visiting with other staff was more the priority.
As for the facility - it is overall very nice. Both the men’s and ladies washrooms were in poor shape, and should be better for a place that is selling the higher end vibe.
I am a very understanding and reasonable person when evaluating dining facilities- but sorry - I do not recommend this restaurant.
We were celebrating an anniversary and we were welcomed with a glass of champagne to begin with. Very nice touch.
My husband ordered the Canyon Caesar, which he loved and I enjoyed the Tequila drink with Rhubarb/Strawberry lime flavouring.
The Brisket was perfectly smoked and cooked and my Bison Steak was also done to perfection.
Beautiful tasty food, great service and excellent ambiance.
It would have been nice to have a musician playing some music like a couple seasons ago.
The view was amazing, the service great and the food definitely the best!
Frances is a fantastic server, anticipates what we’d like and made great recommendations. Food is great and service is top notch.
Staff is very patient with loud kids and parents that won’t control their children. Not a slight against the restaurant - it’s a fantastic place but be warned that the ambiance will be affected by some families.
