Meant to mimic an open market, the room is built of white concrete blocks creating an effect similar to the stucco seen throughout Greece. Mamakas is a nod to heritage, history and family memories – the daily trip to the market for ripe and fragrant tomatoes. Visiting a trusted butcher for fresh paithakia, and the local fish monger for the daily catch.
Recipes passed down through generations. Honest Greek fare with a modern twist. Designed to share. Everything just as Thanos’ family has done through the ages.
Dinner out with great friends.
Service was great! Our server was so friendly and helpful. As for drinks, the hydra punch is a unique and delicious blend. My husband liked their gin martini (very strong). We ordered octopus and lamb for mains, and shared them. It’s the best lamb I’ve ever had! The octopus was also quite good but the lamb is the real star for me.
Mamakas is a very authentic Greece restaurant with an outstanding menu.
Food and service were good. Found the noise level a bit high.
Salad was nice, mushrooms too! Good portions. However lamb chops were 4 small pieces 2 of which were burnt. Server didnt ask how i like it cooked and came medium rare. Octopus was burnt as well.
ANY TIME DINING IS SUPERB!!! Just make sure you book long before !!!!!!
Great food and experience! Highly recommend the lamb chops!
Always amazing food and staff! Worth the price!
Service and Food was excellent but the music is too loud
Mamakas was delicious and the bar was a good place to eat.
Went with a business colleague on a Tuesday night. Had a reservation, but at a high top.
It was noisy, but service was prompt and ambiance was good.
Food was outstanding...highly recommend.
Sat at counter. Great dialogue with servers. Food was great. Server suggested a cocktail, which was good but $15 for a small drink was overpriced. My mistake- never asked price b4 ordering
Sea bass was delicious but wouldn’t order side of potatoes again. Too heavy and not worth it
Been back several times and will return
Amazing as always!
Mamakas was a delightful spot to dine at. It was my very first time and I must say the food was outstanding. By the time we got through the appetizers I didn’t think I was going to be able to handle the whole grilled fish of the day.
This is a great spot to go to for a date and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to venture out and treat their taste buds to something new.
Love the food. We had just experienced the Easter dinner provided by Agora Catering which was superb. Loved every dish.
Good was v good but expensive so would save for an occasion.
Menu was overall great. The mushroom dish was too vinegary. Not very good.
I write a cautionary tale. The food was very good. The service however paled in comparison. Our server was dismissive, impatient, rushed - and as a result, I would not return. In a city filled with a plethora of truly fine restaurants, excellent customer service prevails. Insult to injury is that they only issue one bill and automatically add an 18 per cent gratuity without prior knowledge. This should be visibly stated on their website. Happy to reward good service, when received. I would not return, nor would I recommend Mamakas.
Very good selection especially if you are sharing with others. a party of 6 would be great so that lots on the menu can be shared. I esp liked the fact they serve Greek wines as an opportunity to try something different
Amazing food amazing service
The melitzanosalata was exceptional as were the short ribs and mushrooms. We were seated at crowded spot so not great. Overall the food was the highlight but the room and value less so.
Delicious food. Very good service but can be very noisy and crowded.
The food was absolutely delicious and fresh tasting with beautiful plating! The restaurant had a nice atmosphere/vibe and an open-concept kitchen in which we enjoyed the show.
The food was excellent, as it was the service. Our waiter recommended a few excellent things from the menu, suggested which plates can be shared, and recommended a great wine. We will visit again.
Very good! Good food and great service
Best Greek restaurant in the city.
Prefer high table to back area
Service was slow to start. We arrived at 9:15 and had first dish (pita bread and dip and one pita was very burnt) was served at 10. We were beyond hungry.
Sea bass serving was the smallest I’ve ever seen at any restaurant yet snd was to be shared by 4.
Frankly, overall, I was disappointed. I had hoped to share an amazing experience with friends from Montreal.
I had heard great things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The starters were fantastic, especially the dips, pita and cured swordfish which tasted very fresh. We ordered a variety of mains and the grilled lamb chops were the stand out. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly with herb sauce and tzatziki, so delicious. It was difficult to get a reservation. We're glad it was worth the wait.
The atmosphere and ambience was really nice. The food was good but wasn't amazed.
Amazing night I spent. The service is great and the food breathtaking!
We loved the place, the vibe of the place and the ambiance is fantastic, although I would recommend better attention to the playlist. Food was superb.
Food was disappointing. Fish came lukewarm and the Imam Bayildi was not cooked properly. When we sent the Imam back, they brought us the half eaten portion instead of bringing us a whole new portion. Service was good.
The food we ordered wasn’t that great for date night. Expected the chicken to be more flavourful.
Mamakas is so delicious - amazing service and the food tastes just like it does in Greece. Highly recommend the Saganaki and the lamb!
Everything was amazing! Will be back soon hopefully!
Best Greek food I’ve had.
Delicious food - a bit expensive. No real complaints.
Excellent food, very pleasant atmosphere. Our server was excellent and took great care of us.
