The simple philosophy of Marble & Grain is to look at the classic elements of European Steakhouses and deliver them in a modern form. Created by the award-winning Australian architecture firm, Paul Kelly Designs, Marble & Grain covers two distinct spaces. The first is the bar area, featuring high tables and stools, as well as a row of low tables that take full advantage of the extensive bi-fold windows without blocking the view of those gathered around the beautiful marble bar. Exposed concrete walls create a contrast to soft leather seating while presenting a matte surface that plays off the polished brass highlights within.

    We had an amazing experience for pre-concert dinner with drinks on en route to attending CSO performance at ANU. From Cedric greeting us at reception to Trinity serving as us as wait staff our time was very special. The food was delicious, atmosphere welcoming & memories lasting. Warm regards.

    Staff are very friendly and very attentive. Our meal and accompanying wine was delicious and the venue was very comfortable and relaxed, with a great atmosphere. Excellent restaurant, highly recommended.

    Booked in for a birthday dinner with high expectations of a top quality meal. Entree breads were nice and other enjoyed his oysters. Service was professional. Steak mains arrived and steak was tender but peppercorn sauce was disappointing. Needed salt and nothing special. Side salad of green tomatoes and greens was ordinary and needs dressing. Overall meal was nice but not as good as I hoped for $197 including one glass of average priced cabernet Sauvignon.

    Despite wonderful service and ambiance and the fact we were at a 7pm sitting, the oysters I’d been looking forward to had run out and my pork belly porchetta was very dry with soft chewy crackling. The test of my party enjoyed their meals. Would have liked to see more local wines on the menu. Desserts were too heavy and a bit of an afterthought Just over $600 for party of 5.

    We had friends from Bowral with us and we all enjoyed the evening. We were very happy to hear that our table had not been booked for the next time frame so were able to stay at our table for the whole evening. The food was really good and the service was excellent. Thank you Marble and Grain.

    The place is a little tired. Its sort of a cross between an American Diner and the Kingo. Service sort of struggled with the basics. The steak was pretty good but I could not get excited about going back given the other options in Canberra.

    All good was very high quality, fresh and tasty, but not necessarily distinct from any other high end steak restaurant. It is a place for good food and relaxed conversation, the servings were more than expected, and the wait staff were friendly and talkative as a opposed to robotic and disinterested. The experience was good, as well as expensive.

    Celebrating a special occasion, but last night was a dissapointing experience. We had oysters kilpatrick and they were cold when brought to our table. I had grilled lobster with my steak which was overcooked and dried out. The wait staff were fantastic re service, however, they were understaffed and we had to request drinks. We have been here a few times previously, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience, but last night was very disappointing.

    Had no problem booking in for a Wednesday night meal with my father. Service was quick, food was excellent and the price very reasonable. I would definitely recommend a visit to Marble and Grain if visiting Canberra to my friends and family.

    My fiancee and I had the best experience last night. Both the staff and the food was fantastic. The staff helped me pull off the perfect proposal. Will definitely be back again

    Excellent restaurant, pity there aren't many other quality Steak Houses to compete. The steak as normal was 1st class and the wine list is extensive. The staff are super friendly and competent in their job. The ambience is a Steakhouse and you should remember this.

    Food was great - delicious beef dishes and the Canadian scallops were amazing. Cocktail drinks were just ok - a simple google of the drinks would’ve helped avoid mistakes. Ambiance needs lifting - maybe a fire in the middle of the very basic dining room or candles...? Overall recommended.

    A wonderful experience for my daughters 13th birthday. Amazing food and friendly and attentive service. We had the baby calamari with squid ink aioli, pork belly porchetta and moreton bay bug spaghettini. All absolutely delicious!
