   I have eaten here occasionally - maybe 2-3 times a year - ever since it opened. It has been on a pretty consistent decline for some time now. It feels like no one really cares - including the guy whose name is on the door. It feels like a restaurant in Time Square that trades on a celebrity chef and location. Sadly there are not many options in that area. It starts with basics (piece of photocopied paper for a menu and out of wine glasses?) and extends to lackluster offerings and preparations. The service missed more than usual (an already low bar sent still lower): our waitress seemed generally over-extended, stops at our table were infrequent, we waited 10-15 minutes for drinks to be delivered after we ordered and no one ever refilled water. I’m sure Marcus Samuelson is an amazing chef. But you wouldn’t know it from eating here.

   Delicious food, great BBQ chicken and yummy cornbread (with delicious jam!). Friendly service with a fun atmosphere, but can get a bit too noisy. Glad to find this pre-NJPAC show restaurant- will definitely be back.

   Service slow but not crowded. Took nearly 5 minutes to be acknowledged. Menu taken before I was done and given to another patron but there were only 3 people for dinner

   Despite the restaurant being empty, they were almost incapable of serving us. We were seated 30 minutes late. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks; one came out right away and another didn’t show up until we were seated (30 minutes after we ordered it). There were probably 20 patrons in the restaurants vs two servers, a bartender, three kitchen staff and a manager. We explained that we were seeing something at NJPac and our waitress told us we shouldn’t order certain dishes because we wouldn’t get them in time. We followed her recommendation but the dishes came out in the most bizarre order (entrees first and then appetizers…even cold ones that you would expect to be ready first). When we told the waitress that the service wasn’t great she let us know that it’s normally wonderful and they have great reviews for service. It may have been an off night but the fact that they could barely pull it together with an empty restaurant, I will not be returning.

   Staff and food made for a marvelous outing. Lunch selections on menu were somewhat limited but the meal of salmon with wing appetizers was delicious. Professional, heartwarming, and endearing staff were highlights of dining experience also. Bartender/waiter Devontae was fabulous! Planning to stop again the next time I am in the Newark area!

    Went for early dinner before a show at NJPAC. Convenient to the Military Park Garage and the venue. Instead of ordering mains (apparently menu items change often, wish someone would keep the website updated) the 3 of us ordered small plates and sides to share. We ordered the wings, mussels in curry sauce (huge portion, we couldn't finish it), devilled eggs, and sides of macaroni (actually rigatoni) and cheese and braised collards. Everything was delicious, I'd like to see some more lighter or healthier options (most items fried or blanketed with cheese or rich sauces) but hey it's comfort food. Server was friendly and helpful describing the menu. It's not a large space but the exposed kitchen, tall ceilings and wall of windows in the front by the bar make it feel more open and airy. A good choice when in the area and you don't have time or are not up for a huge meal like at the Spanish/Portuguese places, and more reasonably priced and interesting than NJPAC's NICO (which only offers prix-fix on show dates).

    The mussels were to die for!!! I wanted to order two more bowls full and a loaf of bread just to enjoy the broth made with coconut milk. The sangria was also outstanding!! Waitstaff is very friendly!

    Delicious food! The selection and presentation of each dish was very impressive. Service was very friendly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and it’s ingredients.     Marcus B&P is a great place in. Swarm. The menu is limited but the food is tasty. The staff there is very friendly but the service is very slow. Not sure why but the service has been slow since it opened. Nevertheless, the staff tries their best and always friendly. Just give your self time when dining here because on average it can take up to 2.5 hours

    We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner after not being here since the beginning of the pandemic. We had dinner before a show at NJPAC. Our server was new but the manager and the other server made sure that she was staying on top of everything. Our meals included a shared mac and cheese side which was delicious. Not sure whether to choose the grilled salmon or jerk cauliflower, the longtime server said she loves the cauliflower (she was so right) and it was perfect choice. My partner had the shrimp and grits. We splurged and shared the fabulous housemade bread pudding with vanilla bean ice cream. A wonderful meal which was well-paced and got us to PAC in perfect time for our show.

    We loved Marcus B&P and enjoyed the cozy vibes, great music and amazing service. As soon as you step into the restaurant from the street, it feels like you are transported into a warm inviting atmosphere where meaningful conversation and delicious food is waiting for you.Our waitress and the manager of the place were inviting, kind and people who you would like to have a longer conversation with - just lovely humans and we enjoyed our chats at the table immensely. Even the bathrooms had great albums posted on the wall (Sade and Whitney of course) and it just added to the atmosphere. I cannot wait to try more of their food - we had the gorgeous biscuit/corn bread appetizer (best Biscuits & honey butter with blackberry jam I've ever had) Chicken & Waffles, the Blackened Cauliflower & the Burger and everything was good. They even had a cool selection of mocktails...including the "Traveler" with espresso and brown sugar that was just sublime. If you can rush over here and grab a table and have fun! We will definitely be back. To the owners - please create more of these restaurants in NJ (we live in Hillsborough) as we desperately need a cultural infusion of Harlem & southern food in more places...

    Very cozy little place and quite busy (Saturday dinnertime). The cocktails and food were very tasty and well presented. Limited menu, probably because the kitchen is not large. Overall, a good experience to recommend.

    After waiting an hour for our food, we had to ask the waiter when we were going to be served. It appeared there was a disconnect between the waiter and the kitchen staff. Additionally, the waiter brought the wrong order to me. My husband and grandchildren ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffles were overcooked and very hard and the fried chicken was likewise. The grandchildren also said that the chicken was too spicy.

    My lamb entree was good, but it wasn’t hot (temperature). That’s crazy considering we were literally sitting right in front of the kitchen.
