OPENED FOR DINNER
OPENING FOR LUNCH
Food was very good, but it was very noisy. Impossible to enjoy opera playing and difficult to hold an intimate conversation. Too much bustle around me as well. Ambience just wasn't there!
Always excellent food and very friendly staff.
Very cozy atmosphere.
Loved it just very noisy.
This is the 4th time we have been to this restaurant. They still have not figured out how to service a full house. We went early and it was yet to be crowded. All was good, service, food, and then the crowd came and the service went out the door. Only 2 waiters for the front room and they could not handle it. The issue is management of the staff and proper staffing levels. There were as many hostesses as waiters. Love the food, but go when it is not crowded.
Food was great. The reviews I read about it being overpriced I completely disagree with. My only issue was the service was slacking at the end. Place is new so not many tables and our server was standing around talking to other staff. Getting a check was a chore and we felt like we were interrupting him.
My second time at Mare Monte was just as good as the first. I will be back.
Seafood was cooked to perfection and I would highly recommend, although my homemade linguini was terrible and couldn’t be eaten. Although I may go back, I will not be ordering any of their pasta again. One person in our party had chicken and it was excellent. I would go back for the seafood but only before the dinner rush, as once the restaurant was full it was extremely loud and very difficult to hear the people at my table.
Good italian restaurant in downtown Haddonfield. Service was very good and everyone was friendly.
Food was very good. Noise was ridiculously loud. If we return i am bringing my bose headphones.
Food was delicious and staff very attentive. Atmosphere was quaint.
Very friendly staff, I order the veal chop special it was excellent.
Excellent meal - lovely space. They could use outside lighting. It often looks closed.
This new restaurant is progressing nicely. The lack of articulating the price of some expensive specials may turn into a problem.
We dined at Mare Monte for Christmas Day dinner - 3 adults and 2 middle-school aged children. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the special stuffed lobster appetizer and my mother ordered the escargot appetizer - they said both were great. For main courses I ordered the gnocchi four cheese - the flavors were very nice and I was surprised how much I liked the toasted walnuts. The serving was smaller than expected and I wished I had ordered a salad to go with it. My mom had crab cakes - she can't eat large amounts, so she brought most of it home, but said it was an amazing crab cake and to me it looked like a very large serving. My husband ordered the Linguine fra Diavolo and enjoyed it. My son had the New York strip steak - it was cooked perfectly and had a ton of flavor. He begrudgingly cut me a slice to try and I loved it. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs - freshly made thick spaghetti. She's not used to fresh pasta so she was surprised by the chewiness, but she said the meatballs were "so good". Dessert was creme brule (I may or may not have finished both mine and half my mother's), cannoli, and tiramisu - all lovely. My son didn't like any of the desserts, but he had ice cream at home after so he was fine. I found the prices to be very reasonable, or even inexpensive compared to neighboring restaurants. Food was all fresh and delicious. Staff were friendly, although our waiter didn't check in with us enough and I ended up waiting just to get a check. I have no idea if they serve soft drinks, because we were never asked a drink order and by the time I realized it I decided we could just stick with water. We were seated in the front part of the restaurant - it is in all gray colors and dimly lighted. There's another dining room in the back that is brightly painted and full of light - had I known I would have requested that room. I think the front room is better suited for romantic dates.
Food was absolutely excellent. We all had an appetizer. I got flounder francaise with mash potatoes and vegetables, my friend had branzino. Creme brulee, cannoli, tiramisu for dessert. We were all very pleased with our meal.
Everything was superb. Food was delicious, and the desserts were exquisite. My entire family could not of been more pleased.
Ate here on Christmas Day.
A lovely little space..... Amazing food! Have already told a number of people! I'll definitely return.
Everything was perfect. What a great experience. Park around back and enjoy one of Haddonfield’s treasures in fine casual dining. Fresh, home made dishes with something on the menu for everyone. Save room for the Tiramisu. The best I have ever had!
Very nice. The foot was excellent and service unhurried
We absolutely loved this place! The food, the service; all incredible. We spent Christmas Eve here as a party of 6, and we were all raving about our meals. The home made pasta dishes were perfection. Highly recommend a visit to Haddonfield for a meal at Mare Monte!
One of the best ducks I have ever had and surprising for an Italian restaurant. The flounder was super and the salad fresh and wonderful. Prices are more than reasonable for such quality. Had the Bronzino another time and it was excellent. Going again tonight and having the risotto which was an accompaniment and even better than mine and mine is really good.
Everyone's meal exceeded expectations. The tuna steak special I had was prepared perfectly. I highly recommend this place.
Enjoyed a lovely ‘date night’! Fantastic food and a very pleasant (and attentive) server. Excited to bring my young boys sometime soon as it’s perfect for a family meal out or a more intimate dining experience.
Very pretty space with qualified, friendly staff.
Always excellent food and service.
Food is always fresh and quality
First time visit. Loved the shrimp and bean appetizer and the polenta.
My husband enjoyed the flounder franchaise. I had the veal marsala. It was flavorful but I found the veal over cooked.
2nd visit - 1st review . . Different fish meal each time - cooked perfectly . . Have to say the flounder was exquisite . . Wonderful service . . We picked a quiet time for the 2 of us . . The NE clam chowder had a recognizable twist which we appreciated . . Put this place on your 'must' list . .
We visited Mare Monte on Thanksgiving and had a wonderful experience. The Bronzino was delicious as was the gnocchi. We also enjoyed the Creme Brûlée. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
We look forward to returning.
Very loud in room. Nothing to limit sound from bouncing off the bare walls.
Food was excellent and service was top notch! We had veal and seafood dishes and everyone loved their meals.
Food was outstanding! I could tell the pasta was made in house!
Mare Monte is our new go-to restaurant for impromptu date nights, family dinners, get-togethers...DEFINITELY reserve a table and do not try the walk-in route. There's a reason they book up early. Their food, service, and attention to detail has made them a local favorite. With a short walk to the PATCO Hi-Speedline, it's a great spot before heading to Philly for the evening. We are so fortunate it's a quick walk from our house!
I've eaten at MM several times and have not been disappointed yet! This time I asked if a dish not on the menu could be made and my requested was accepted with pleasure. It was a week night and not as busy as the weekends so I wouldn't have imposed. The chicken Milanese was fantastic! My husband had a pasta dish and was very satisfied.
Mare Monte was a pleasant surprise. The food is fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious. I can honestly say that is was the best eggplant parm that I've had in years. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive. The space is uncluttered and beautiful. The only thing I would change is the noise level, but given the beautiful high ceilings, I don't think it is really possible. We will be back, probably a lot!
I was honestly very disappointed after hearing good things about the restaurant. I had the house dish - Mare Monte. It had no taste and the pasta was over cooked. I also started with the Arugula salad and once again very bland. I would love to give the restaurant another chance but I will need to be convinced to go again.
Very good food overall. Shrimp with pasta g he as only 3 shrimp, a small portion. Noise was excessive, even in the smaller back room. A lot of sound deadening is a must. Would not return on the weekend until this is attended to
Good food, a bit pricey and too noisy to hold a conversation.
Food was great - service excellent. Only issue was the noice level. Not a deal breaker . Would suggest back room which was quieter
