We went to Mari Vanna on our vacation because we wanted to try Russian food, which you can’t get where we live. The food was absolutely amazing. We especially enjoyed the chicken blinis and cherry vareniki. The service was excellent as well. And for those who are concerned it’s a Russian restaurant, they had a sign about how to support Ukraine right when you enter the door. We’re sad we don’t have a restaurant like this back home. We would be there regularly.

Absolutely overpriced! The food tastes fine, but for the price I was expecting something amazing. The service is not great, we were there after lunch rush our, I guess servers got too relaxed and were chatting with hostess and bartender. We had to wait to order, to get a dessert menu and to get check over 10 minutes each.

We were promptly seated in a front window seat. The restaurant interior was authentic and attractive. Our server was sweet and attentive. The mushroom soup was very flavorful. I had the beef stroganoff and my wife had the chicken kiev. Both were superb.

The best pelmeni since my mother’s! Beautifully decorated which gives a warm ambience. The cherry pelmeni and honey cake desserts were outstanding. Only downside was that our entrees weren’t hot. But they reheated them. We two were on the mezzanine which was more quiet. ~Maryann

I would love to see the music turned down a little. I greatly appreciate more subtle background music that doesn't interfere with conversation and with listening to servers whose accents call for close attention. Other than that, the whole experience was perfect!

First. I had an amazing experience. We had a party if 11 with short notice, so my expectations weren't high. But man, the food, service, and decor were all amazing. We weren't rushed, and the staff was attentive without being overbearing. We had such a great time and will be going back.

My visit to Mari Vanna was happenstance" it happens to be across the street from The DC Improv. I was also curious about fine Russian dining. It was a delightful experience. Beautiful ambiance, lovely comfortable setting, perfectly lighted. The potato dumplings (appetizer) and beef stroganoff were outstanding. Very glad I visited, and I intend to return.
