With sweeping views of Mt. Baker and the Straits of Juan de Fuca, the Marina Restaurant at the Oak Bay Marina offers a feast for all your senses.
Wonderful first time experience for lunch. We couldn't have asked for a better server (britney). Beautiful views, nice welcoming people, and exceptional food. They gave my wife a nice birthday dessert at the end (house made chocolate truffles) Thanks!
Very limited menu. Eggs Benedict were just OK, a few springs of green lettuce and some pickled onion plus a generous portion of diced potatoes that were over-browned and tasted like just re-heated. The taste and quality of food was less than good. But the price was very high as for a super basic eggs bennie.
Coffe was served lukewarm.
Service was good and quick and the server was very nice.
We were there at 10:30 am on Sunday and the place was rather empty.
Our table missed the elegance of crisp white tablecloths
Food overpriced. Shellfish shells were almost all empty. Cold tuna Which was supposed to have some warmth As it was seared. Crab with my steak was almost nonexistent. Entrée was $56 which was ridiculous. Should never have ordered it. I am a local who goes to the marina often and I was extremely disappointed.
Thanks to Greg who set the scene of a perfect Anniversary/Birthday dinner. Exceptional knowledge of local sea food, and wine pairings, along with a friendly atmosphere. Views are breathtaking, sunset was viewed uninterrupted. Will be back for another romantic evening.
The view of the harbour and sunset was beautiful. The Halibut was delicious and enjoyed by two of us as well as the paella. The pork was tasty but found to be a little tough. We did overall very much enjoy our meals. Air conditioning was a little too cool, when using the restroom quite a noticeable difference in temperature. That being said, very nice evening!
Enjoyed the meal very much. Interesting that we were seated at the same table as I was the last time at the restaurant...48 years ago!

Wine menu was extraordinarily expensive and not that good...somewhat pertentious
Consistently strong service and menu, amidst a nice ambience.
Everything, which means food, ambience, setting and Daniel was excellent.
The setting was lovely but the restaurant was VERY noisy. I had pappardelle with grilled asparagus, pesto, etc. It was ok, but MUCH too oily and MUCH too large.

Was fantastic evening. Service and food were excellent. I had the halibut. Killer!
Phil, We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your halibut! And we are just as grateful that you decided to share the good news! Thank you for your support. We hope to feed you again soon. Cheers, The Marina Restaurant Management Team
The food preparation and quality was excellent, many different flavours. The service was also excellent from start to finish. It was an enjoyable evening!
It was my mother's 91st birthday and it was the perfect spot.
Very pleasant indeed
was the worse breakfast I have ever had anywhere in Victoria, the food was cold and the potato so salty we could not eat it. OakBay marina restaurant was a great place to dine , however I will not go back there again. Most definitely there are better places to go in Victoria. I made a mistake taking our guest to this place.I will tell all my family and friends not to go there either in fact I have been thinking of writing to the news paper about it.
Wonderful evening, great service, superb atmosphere
I had the sockeye and my wife had the halibut. Both were perfectly cooked and the accompanying vegetables and sauces were delicious. We had the summer pavlova for dessert, so amazi g!!
The summer Pavlova is one of our favourites as well! We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit with us, we hope to feed you again soon! Cheers, The Marina Restaurant Management Team
Service was slow slow slow! Couldn't get a drink and food was so slow we took it to go. Thank goodness for the beautiful setting. Ate the food at home and it was delicious but the server was the worst ive had in years. Hopefully she was just having an off night.
Whitney, We are very sorry to hear that our service on your last visit fell short of your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with some feedback so that we are able to look into and address this issue. Very good food and a beautiful view. This is a great place to get some good fish on the island
Barbara, Thank you for the kind words. We are very proud to offer our customers only 100% ocean-wise seafood. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your meal, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience. We hope to feed you again soon! A beautiful setting for an anniversary meal. The service was excellent right from the very start. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals (Albacore Paella and Pork Loin special) as there were so many flavors to savor. The server surprised us with a special desert for our anniversary which was a nice touch. We will definitely return!

You are always a go to place to take visitors from out of town. And we have lots. Food is great and always a good selection of Fisk and meat options. One thing I would advise to to allow a larger selection of the Japanese food items from your other part of the restaurant. I often want more of that but many of the others prefer the regular menu. Must be a way to incorporate the two parts of your establishment.
The staff are great, welcoming and helpful with the menus. This time we had a friend who has swallowing issues but she was quite pleased with your selection.
Steve, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience after your recent visit. While we do hope in the future we will be able to provide sushi at all times in the dining area, unfortunately we are not able to accommodate that at this time. We do however offer the regular dining menu, in addition to the sushi menu, in the sushi area and at our round bar. Thank you again for sharing your feedback with us as it highlights areas of potential improvement. See you next visit!
The halibut was superb!
Very disappointed that the fabulous Sunday buffet brunch is now only reserved for holidays. That’s the only reason why we went. The restaurant was empty and not full of life as it usually is when the buffet brunch was on. The server kept disappearing for long periods of time. Her apron was very dirty and she rarely cleaned our table.
Food was ok but not great and took a long time to prepare even though it wasn’t busy at all.
Very disappointed and most likely won’t return until the buffet brunch comes back if it ever does.
This was our favourite place for a nice buffet brunch on a Sunday as we’ve been and brought friends many times.
Chris, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. The decision regarding the Brunch Buffet was not one that was easily made, but one that everyone here felt necessary. We pride ourselves on being environmentally conscious and the cost associated with maintaining such an extensive spread was simply too high given the incredible amount of waste associated with the Breakfast Buffet. We apologize if we did not live up to your expectations, please know that we value your feedback.
Sunset and view very nice
excellent wine, fish and service. The view and sunset are second to none in this region. Thank you.
Peter, Thank you for sharing your kind words. We hope to feed you again soon! Cheers, Marina Restaurant Management
We had a very fun time with exceptional food & service.
We have been to the Marina many times during our 18 yrs in Victoria, but not so much recently. This time, we took some out-of-town guests, who enjoyed the view and the ambiance. But, my wife felt her halibut was over-done. I had the lamb dish and was disappointed. The lamb seemed hard -- either tough to begin with or overdone -- and the whole dish struck me as a mishmash. It was hard to tell what I was eating, other than meat and a lot of other stuff. We might come again for lunch or brunch, but probably not for dinner.
Tom, I am extremely disappointed to hear of your recent experience here. While we strive for excellent feedback, it is often more valuable to hear about where we are falling short. I do wish at the time you were here we had known that things had gone askew, so that we may have been able to rectify your meals. If you have a moment, please feel free to reach out to me personally as I would appreciate the opportunity to address this issue head on with you. Jason McMillan
Arrived few minutes before our 5 pm reservation. Hostess would not seat us in an empty restaurant. Suggested we go for a walk and come back in a few minutes. When we came back we were not greeted, just escorted with a "follow me". Hostess said our server will be with us shortly. 10 minutes later someone arrived and just poured water. She would of just walked away without saying a word if we hadn't of said hello first. About another 10 minutes later same person came back and asked us if we wanted a drink. No introduction that she was our server. We said we just needed a minute since we were deciding if we were going to stay. We thought if this is an indication of what our service may be like, we didn't want to stay at a restaurant that we would probably would of dropped a couple hundred bucks including a good tip. We went to the Keg where service and food was great. Maybe Marina Restaurant Management could take a few tips from Kegs service model.
I had the bento box and it seemed to have been prepared long before I got it. I have been many times before in the evening and had all of the same items and they were fantastic. This time I did not enjoy them.
I liked the main - the steelhead trout. The dessert -was a surprise. Not at all what I thought a pavlova with fruit would be like. But then maybe I've had too much homemade pavlova. I have never had any
thing so named that resembled yesterday's pavlova. My experience with many pavlovas has been more pie-like with meringue as crust and heaps of fresh fruit with whipped cream on top. The dome of hard meringue look like styrofoam, felt like it. The only taste was sweetness. Very disappointing.
Service was outstanding and personable.
Calamari starter was disappointing.
It was tender but the batter was too “floury “. The addition of onions was nice.
The halibut and fries was good. Fish nicely cooked. Fries were a little dry.
Nice location but menu is somewhat tired and a lack of options for vegetarians and vegans.
Beautiful view of course but improvements to made... The hostess who seated us was polite and accommodating as we did request no booth when making the open table reservation. The server we had seemed inexperienced. She spoke too softly, dropped items ... maybe a bad day? I had steamed mussels and clam in a delicious broth and the side of fries with aioli... yum. Other diners had bento box lunch (very good), lamb curry (very good) and battered sole and fries (average). The downfall were the expensive desserts... summer pavlova was pretty but the meringue was rock hard. This restaurant used to have a delicious key lime pie... bring it back! I happened to notice the carpet was in really bad shape... it needs to be replaced! As our group was leaving, other servers and hostess were polite and thanked us for the visit.
The two restaurants in one (either sushi or view) are hard to understand. The reservation system at open table doesn't let you reserve for the sushi part. Sushi was great and we were lucky enough to get a table quickly. Staff were good.
We had lunch today at Marina for the first time. I was blown away by the setting which gave you a panoramic view of the water. I was disappointed to see that they had an abbreviated lunch menu so I couldn’t get the dish I was hoping for. We started with the calamari which was very good, crisp and tender. The sauce didn’t add much, however. I then ordered the salmon burger. I never order salmon in a restaurant at home for 2 reasons: 1, it’s always farmed, and 2, restaurants always overcook it. I decided to try Marina’s salmon because it’s wild caught, and I was thrilled to see that it was cooked perfectly! My husband had the petrale sole fish & chips and it too was wonderful. All told, this was a lovely lunch in a fabulous setting.
I have been to the Marin many times for lunch. I was surprised by the high noise level Sunday at noon. If this keeps up, I will have to rethink the Marina.
Sorry to say. Food and service were the same high standard.
