With sweeping views of Mt. Baker and the Straits of Juan de Fuca, the Marina Restaurant at the Oak Bay Marina offers a feast for all your senses.
Our server, Rusty, was the icing on the cake! He made us feel welcome, laugh, and enjoy the evening much more than we knew we already would. And the tuna paella was DELICIOUS!!!
My husband and I had a very lovely lunch with an unbeatable view of the marina and ocean at the Oak Bay Marina! The service was very good and the food delicious and well-presented. It was a special occasion for us, but I don't think we'll wait for another special occasion before returning!
Wonderful ambiance, excellent food and great service.
Our overall experience was very good although to be honest, I had the pork chop which seemed a bit too dry which really did keep me from giving the food a high rating.
Excellent quality .... from appetizer to dessert. Each course is artistically presented.
Perfect views as well from every table.
We loved it!
Our sever was so awesome! His name was Greg, or Craig. However, the noise level made it very difficult to have a conversation at our own table. The food was mediocre. I guess you expect more when you pay more. Overall, I likely won't be back.
A very pleasant experience, as always. Called a couple of hours ahead and enjoyed a lovely window table for lunch.
Service was excellent - in all, it's good to have an excellent restaurant so near to my home.
Lovely setting; a varied menu; service professional and competent. I find the wine list to be rather pricey and wines at the lower level of the list are not particularly tasty.
Greg and the rest of the staff were fantastic, starting with getting greeted at the door not once but twice. Food was tasty and different. We will be returning soon for a dinner. Once again, thank you to the Marina Restaurant for making it a great birthday for my wife.

We live close by. Every year we give the Oak Bay Marina, another try. I saw on Opentable under the menu, that you could have Sushi. When we were seated I asked for a Sushi menu. Hostess said you can have the dining room menu in the Sushi bar but not the Sushi menu in the dining room. The Sushi restaurant was full. This was a Saturday night. The restaurant had many empty tables. The dining room menu is uninspiring. We both tried something we would not have at home. Our starter was fresh oysters. Which were really good. The entrees we choose were Gnocchi and the Falafel Tabouli Salad. Presentation was nice. Both were very dry and tasteless. We were given a table for two close to a big birthday group. Other couples were seated beside the window at tables for four people. We didn't ask for another table, as we thought they may be reserved. A table of four did arrive. Just one. Thought it was strange that we weren't offered a view table over looking the water. Our server was pleasant enough. Not going back and not recommending to anyone.
From start to finish our dining experience here was superb. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive . As an example, I had the halibut (on the recommendation of our server) and it was beautifully prepared with seasonal vegetables (how nice not to have the usual starch). Simply delicious. This dish was as good if not better than dishes from the top restaurants featuring ‘new Nordic ‘ cuisine I had recently in Copenhagen.
Please thank your chef . Victoria you have a gem of a restaurant here!
I took my cousin who was in town for my Mom’s Celebration of Life for a light lunch in between errands and preparations. The service, chowder and view were excellent
Exceptional service with a unique and delicious brunch menu.
My friend and I NEVER spend this much money on a dinner, but we have no regrets for treating ourselves. The food was incredible, we had the Halibut and the dish was delicious. Our waiter was welcoming, friendly, and made us really feel comfortable. Thanks for this great experience!
The servers are excellent and there isn't a bad seat in the house. The meals, in many cases, are overpriced. I ordered the steelhead, which was a little bland. Nice, but expensive, experience for Victoria.
Beautiful view as always, but food was forgettable. Server was delightful, but food delivery was delayed. Part way through our meal a group of women arrived taking up 3 long tables right next to us........need I say more?
Won't be back for a long time, at least until a desire to see the beautiful view takes over common sense.
Overall the food quality and attention to preparation was poor and quite below expectation especially for a week end. I have always seen on previous visits and when I lived in Victoria, a much busier Oak Bay Marina. Our recent visit adequately displayed why. Three different dishes were had by our group. All pretty clear fails especially in preparation and presentation. There is no excuse to overcook oysters in a deep fryer. What’s even worse is they were served to us anyway. I can’t imagine any Chef worth his salt being satisfied with that.
Unless leadership in the Kitchen changed we would not return.
Beautiful room. Too bad.
Always happy to return to the Marina. Past experience has shown it to be a bit variable but always at least good. This visit was excellent and we were glad we took our visitors there for a nice lunch. Our server (Rusty?) was outstanding: friendly, attentive and timely but not intrusive.
the table close to the window and the service were both excellent. the food was disappointing. the slippery plate for the fish and chips made it awkward to eat, fries not crisp. the Caesar salad was disappointing- excessive vinegar taste and other additives made it too acidic-- and not a great paring with the otherwise tasty prawns.
We often come here for special occasions. We had great food and service. It is a little pricey for lunch.
I found the strip loin steak dish very rich and it arrived just warm. The waitress did take it back and it was then much better (warmed in the microwave?). This should definitely not happen in a restaurant of this calibre.
We were surprised that seafood is not featured more on the dinner menu.
Actually I WOULD HAVE VERY MUCH LIKED Sushi for dinner but as we were sitting at one of the regular tables by a window away from the Sushi bar we were informed that we could not order that. Strange?
Robert G. McLure,
No price listed for farm cut steak on menu, turned out to be $60.
lovely restaurant - somewhat haughty welcome. Service was attentive. Food was mediocre. Wouldn't recommend. Maybe just a drink at their lovely bar.
Mostly food good, beet salad disappointing... view wonderful, overall service excellent
an accommodating, attentive, efficient and pleasant server..
Alexis I believe to be her name.
I live in the neighbourhood of the Marina Restaurant. The food, the staff and the location are unbeatable. I would highly recommend it for local dining or entertaining out of town guests. A true pleasure.
The baked Brie was under cooked and the chocolate molten lave cake was over cooked not up to the usual standards of this restaurant
Best salmon burger I've ever had! Amazing. Service was great, friendly and knowledgeable - except for the front desk hostess, who was rather stern and bossy! But all in all it was a lovely lunch, and I will definitely be back.
As always, a fantabulous view and, on the whole, an excellent lunch.
However, the service was quite slow especially clearing away dishes - perhaps 15 to 20 minutes
All dishes were good - especially my Pork sausages (in a fish restaurant!!) but the meat in my wife’s curry was predominantly fat!!
Old friends and I often choose the Marina for special celebrations. Some of us grew up around here way before the restaurant was built so we have great memories of climbing on the rocks under the old Boat House. We do not have deep pockets but coming for lunch works. Only once were we aware of a server's disdain at our lack of big-time spending. Thanks for welcoming all kinds of customers! Probably over the years we have spent many great lunches with you!
Menu rarely changes over the years we have lived here. Server had no knowledge of specials- we overheard specials when another server discussed at an adjacent table. He had to go to kitchen to check. Food overpriced compared to similar venues- ($50+for steak? - at a steakhouse maybe- not at Oak Bay Marina.)
Restaurant food quality was excellent as was the service. Overall a very positive dining experience.
Food great. Service excellent. Staff superb.
Would recommend this to people anytime
I brought friends for a special occasion and they were disappointed at the portion size. The waitress also forgot one of the items we asked for and it took a while before we got her attention to add the item ordered. Also the bread before the meal was more like a dessert cake so we were a little surprised by that, so didn't eat it.
I booked there because I wanted to take them to Sunday Brunch and only found out two days prior that they no longer served it unless special occasions such as Easter, etc. Will not go back.
We enjoyed their Sunday Brunch - which is no longer a buffet - but I totally preferred it.
I have been to their Sunday buffet before, and it was busy and rushed.
The plated Sunday buffet was much more enjoyable.
Kudos for them for making the not so easy change!
And, the table service was tremendous.
Great service and delicious food - the lemon cheesecake dessert was especially memorable.
Good food, excellent service. Thank-you!
Absolutely fabulous lunch ! I asked in the comment section for a table with a great view
My daughter in law was visiting from Australia I wanted to treat her special
I wanted her to experience our beautiful city
I'm swear we were given the best seat in the entire restaurant
What a spectacular view we had on a beautiful day
The food and the presentation was amazing!!!! I couldn't have asked for a better experience
Well done even our lattes with biscotti on the side wears a perfect touch
The lemon cheesecake for dessert absolutely delicious
Beautifully plated, delicious meals, friendly service. Meal paced perfectly to fully the marina view and ambience of the restaurant. We go often and have never been disappointed. And the sushi is a bonus.
The Marina is our family's choice for special occasions. Food and service is excellent, and combined with the beautiful view make our time at the Marina Restaurant very special.
For the price range would like to see more higher end options on the lunch menu, i.e., fish cakes and shellfish items.
I always love the ambiance and view. The service was very good.
