   End to end a wonderful dining experience. The staff are delightful, the food is unique and beautifully prepared and the atmosphere is very charming. Can't wait to return.

   Amazing meal at Maru!! The salmon steak was absolutely to die for. Cooked perfectly. The salmon don was also great. We were blown away by the quality of the fish (bluefin tuna and salmon), as well. Loved the complimentary crispy rice at the beginning of the meal too. Definitely will be coming back again soon!

   Service was great, food is very good. Limited options for gluten-free folks. Bathrooms have binary signs, but are singular (toilet and sink in one room that locks).

   We had the Valentines Day Dinner Set Menu B! It was AMAZING! I was so impressed with the quality of food, the pure amount of food, and the authenticity of all the dishes. This place was so lovely, and all the servers were so nice! I had such a great meal.

    Everything you have heard about this place is absolutely true. The best Japanese food I’ve had in a long time. Had Miso soup, Karage Fried Chicken, bluefin tuna and Atlantic salmon sashimi, and spicy tuna roll. All delicious. Tried both kinds of the sake and beer available they were delicious. Do not hesitate to book here. You will not be disappointed.

    They knocked it out of the park again. My partner and I ordered the miso soup, vegetable tempura and maki platter, which was the perfect amount of food. The freshness of the fish and seasonal choices for the tempura were amazing. We also tried one of the Japanese beers from Far Yeast that they offer, which was a delightful pairing.

    I visit Maru quite frequently and every time has been exceptional. Service is amazing and food is outstanding! Maru has the freshest fish and produce that is plated in a very curated way. Every dish has a lot of love and thought behind it. I LOVE MARU! Always exceeds my expectations ❤️

    This family run modern Japanese restaurant is amazing. We try to dine here at least once a month. The food is so fresh and there is so much variety to select from. It’s great for date nights with significant others or friends or parents. It’s not a place you come to quickly dine and get out. Take your time and savour every dish. My favourites are the canapés (a must) the green and soba noodle salads, the sliders, chicken karaage, short ribs, (I can go on and on)!

    The food was fantastic, especially the Bluefin Don, beautiful presentation. We ordered a bunch of food, loved the canapes but we weren't crazy about the croquettes, they needed umph. We love that Maru is in Leslieville and look forward to its growth so we have some feedback. The service wasn't the greatest other than the woman who sat us down. Our main waitress was good as well but we weren't notified of the specials, which was the Bluefin Don. I just happened to ask why the Chirashi bowl was missing from the menu and that's how we learned about the Bluefin. There wasn't much interaction with the staff on the menu or how the meals were going. The ambiance was good overall but for the prices of the meals we were kind of hoping it would be a little more elevated with the decor of the restaurant, especially the washrooms. Overall the food was amazing and can't wait go to back!

    Maru is my favourite neighbourhood gem! I visit almost once a week and every time I receive exceptional service and high quality delicious food. Everything is plated beautifully and with care.. you can tell a lot of thought goes behind each dish. Visit Maru, you will not be let down!

    Okay, so we were the only customers during the massive winter storm so the place was dead quiet. We had a lovely attentive server who provided sake samples. The food is very delicious. Everyhting was prepared to perfection. This place is a hidden gem in Lesliveville.

    Truly amazing food…..great service and ambience. The Tuna belly sashimi was as good as I’ve ever had….and we had a guest who does not eat sushi and who raved about the Shrimp tempura and short rib rolls. The miso soup had a smokiness to it and was amazing. Overall, without doubt the place to go for Japanese food in the east end.

    Maru is such a cute little spot, especially in the summer with their patio. We come here often because the staff is always friendly and attentive and the food is delicious, consistent, and made with quality ingredients. The dishes are unique compared to your typical Jap restaurant - the Canape and Tempura are must-tries!

    Loved our meal at Maru, Delicious food and very thoughtful service. We had 2 different sushimi, black cod in broth, and duck breast. Food presentation was lovely. Cocktails were excellent. Fantastic evening.

    We had such a great experience here. The food was out of this world - like honestly prob the best sushi I ever had. Everything was delicious and very fresh. The ambience is nice and the service is excellent. Very friendly staff. I will most definitely be back and will be bringing friends here! Totally recommend.

    Overall the experience was lacklustre. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, it took a long time to order a drink and then even longer to receive them. Our server missed food items we had ordered and when items were brought to the table they went to the wrong people. For the price point of the food everything was a little underwhelming.
