Great to be back!
I took my mother here for Mother’s Day and the staff was absolutely amazing! They saved us a really cute booth which I thought was very thoughtful! It was our first time and we had an amazing experience. Our server drew was great! He was very welcoming, helpful, attentive and gave us the perfect amount of space while keeping a close eye on us. The woman who greeted us was so welcoming and sweet as well, but I did not get her name. Appetizers and sushi were wonderful and plated well. My only negative was our hibachi steak was a little under heated. It seems like they probably sous vide and it just wasn’t quite warm by the time it reached us. However, the service and rest of our meal was absolutely fantastic and we will be back. Little things happen!
As always, lives everything we ordered. They need to bring back the saracha edamame
Best sushi we have ever had! So so good. Highly recommend!
The sushi here was one of the best I have ever had. I was impressed by the service and plan on going back again for sure!
Worst service I've ever has at a restaurant. Will never return. My husband and I left after one round of drinks and an appetizer. The manager Toby didn't apologize once and reserved the same appetizer we sent back as a result of having no soy sauce for 5 minutes and the seared salmon belly nigiri was now cold. Coming from an employee who used to work at the East Lansing Maru, this is not the service I would ever have been expected to provide to Maru patrons. The rudeness of the manager was so off-putting. Very sad.
although the menu is quite pricey, the food is absolutely phenomenal and worth it. the spicy mayo wasn’t spicy enough but other than that the service was incredible.
Love the zen garden cocktails & the service was excellent. Thank you for the free special occasion dessert - cheesecake. Everything was yummy!
My wife and I love Maru. Best sushi hands down. We have been log-time customers since the opening of their first location in Okemos, MI as MSU alumni. During this visit we took some friends of ours as their first time and they also fell in love. From the quality, freshness, presentation, and attention to detail. No one has Maru beat.
Sushi was amazing, service great, drinks also great. Overall a good experience
Great food great service
Great sushi in downtown Detroit, highly recommend the cosmo and crazy salmon rolls.
Maru is a nice place to eat. Good sushi at a reasonable price
The food is wonderful and the interior design is beautiful!
The sushi is so good and the atmosphere is beautiful
Friendly and quick service, great specials! Parking can be difficult
Always a good call
Let’s keep it at Amazing per the usual 😊 Thank you for always providing the best service.
First time visiting and truly enjoyed my experience. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and service!
Our server was absolutely charming. The restaurant was not terribly busy, but it did take over half an hour to get our food after ordering. The food was decent and very filling. The staff made the experience great, but the food itself was not fantastic.
Staff was phenomenal, food was the best I’ve had.
I really like Sake here, and the best was the Madagascar rolls. I really recommend this place for Japanese food lovers.
Beautiful restaurant, wonderful service, great drinks and spectacular food! I will be back with my family!
Service was great, food was just okay. We frequent a lot of different sushi places and this place had a pretty small menu, and the sushi rolls weren’t made very good. When you went to pick a lot of them up, they just unrolled and fell apart.
We went there for my husband's 39th birthday celebration during Covid. It was just the two of us at the dinner and the restaurant was not too busy. We enjoyed the 4-course dinner option curated by the Executive Chef which was phenomenal! Maru Sushi also catered to my special request for the birthday. I will most certainly be back following the Covid restaurant restrictions!!!
Great location, was lucky enough to get parking out front. Went for Early V-Day dinner. Food was extremely tasty! Great Date Night with social distancing enforced!
Always good! Never disappoints! Probably one of our favorite places in Detroit.
Great ambiance! Nice environment! Friendly staff! Most importantly, was the most amazing sushi i've had in metro detroit. Shrimp appetizer was amazing too.
Everything was absolutely incredible and the food is so fresh. Love this place!
We had a great experience with even better food! We will definitely be coming back!
Tasty food and great dinner.
My husband and I had a lovely date here! Cocktails and sushi rolls were amazing. We are vegetarians so we don't typically go out for sushi, but Maru had great veggie options. I would go again!
Great service & the sushi was outstanding. We came looking for otoro which they didn’t have due to Covid/keeping costs down, which was totally understandable. Staff was all very kind and it felt safely distanced.
Great service from Yasuhiro!! He was so friendly and very attentive.
Sushi looked like an art piece! Great sushi! Place was very cold🥶. Had to wear my coat while dining.
Maru hands down is the best sushi restaurant in town. And their hibachi is an added bonus. Appetizers are always on point . The food here is sure to fulfill you palette. The drinks are delicious , the staff is friendly and good looking. I’m a regular here because I have high expectations and consistency is key. They never disappoint. Tobi and Cody are the best!
Great food and service.
We came in for a 42rd Anniversary Celebration. They staff was very friendly and attentive. The Sushi and the Habachi entree were great. The wine list was sparse but wine pricing was very good. If you're in the mood for Japanese cuisine, Maru Sushi is a great downtown Detroit find.
