Always a wonderful experience
Eating at Masaki was a real treat. The service was lovely, our server provided very good recommendations which we followed. The sushi was the best I've ever tried. An excellent, up-scale dining choice for Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Our dinner was superb! I had the battered shrimp in a sweet Chili Thai sauce with spicy mayonnaise. Absolutely delicious! Seewead salad, eel over rice, soft shelled crab. Wonderful. Small and quiet. Very good service. Would definitely go back again.
One of the best restaurants we sampled during our tour of southern Ontario. Never having tasted Japanese food before, we were at the mercy of the waiter. He was patient, informative, attentive and efficient. We chose a shrimp dish with three sauces, as was recommended, which was to die for. Then we shared the sushi dinner - so fresh and flavorful that we ordered one more dish to finish the meal, a tuna and avocado concoction that was delicious as well. All the fish was fresh and we had a wide variety to sample as our introduction to Japanese cuisine. Next time, we will try some saki.
The sushi/ sashimi is fresh with good variety. Service is good and great value for authentic Japanese food in the Niagara-on-the-Lake area.
We are not sushi connoisseurs, but the this was the best sushi we have ever had. Each piece was a work of art. Varied menu as compared to many sushi restaurants. Interesting choices for sake and other drinks. Polite, helpful service.
Excellent lunch at a very reasonable price.
The food WAS GREAT! I have never had better sushi!
Small menu with limited selection at lunch but everything was very tasty.
Went to Masaki for our anniversary dinner. Had a wonderful time. Food and service were both excellent. A really nice atmosphere. Would return.
everything was great except there was wasabi on each and every piece of sushi between the rice and the fish. It overpowered the delicate fish and ruined my palette. I had to scrape it off. If I want wasabi, I will use the accompanying wad served on the edge of the platter.
One of the best authentic Japanese resturants in Ontario. Some expensive items but worth it.
Lovely lunch at Masaki on our summer vacation to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Really fabulous sushi and bistro dishes. My husband and I LOVED the food. Warm service and lovely place. Highly highly recommend!
Great food, the wasabi (fresh ground) and soya sauce (house made) were fantastic. We ordered the premium sashimi (chef’s choice) and were not disappointed. The tuna and avocado tartare (appetizer) was the highlight of the meal.

Love it there!...love sushi would recommend to those who do!
We enjoyed a great pre theatre dinner spot in Niagara on the Lake. Conveniently located - 2 minute walk to the Festival Theatre. Sitting at the bar area watching the preparation of the sushi is a must do, entertainment in and of itself. Food was delicious. Staff/service was excellent and they were great in assisting us with choosing food to share. Reasonable for the quality of the sushi.
This is about creativity in sushi! I believe the servers and chefs are truly into creating food and experience that showcases the Japanese style! Everything was delicious , prepared with care and served with respect ! This dining experience takes some time though!
So amazing. Loved everything. Highly recommended!
The food was good however the menu does not have a huge variety. Service was fine except that our reservation was for 7:00 and when we walked in at 7:00, a couple entered before us with a reservation of 7:30. Our table was given to the 7:30 reservation which left us sitting at the bar. Didn’t appreciate that our anniversary dinner was spent sitting at the bar. There are many other nice restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake that we would return to before returning to Masaki
Great restaurant! Very authentic Japanese food of great quality. Very tasty!
Our first visit to Masaki was a memorable one. The food and service were both outstanding. Our host was Yoshi who was very gracious and helpful in our selections. The spicy sashimi salad was wonderfully refreshing and was followed by Nish Yaki, wagyu beef that we cooked on the hot stone grill brought to our table (great fun and nicely complemented by the karubi sauce). Tender and flavourful, it melts in the mouth and is completely satisfying. The Masaki roll with salmon and scallop, and the spicy tuna roll completed an excellent meal.
While I have not dined at many Japanese restaurants, I can't imagine it gets much better than this. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff were welcoming, our server Yoshi was friendly, helpful and attentive, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Will definitely return to Masaki on our next visit to Niagara on the Lake.
Wonderful! Very pleasant surprise for Niagara on the Lake
Masaki is consistently excellent. Oysters are always clean and fresh, the beef is never an afterthought, and the sushi is always thoughtfully arranged and presented. Each time we have visited, Ashley has accommodated our gluten-free requests. The restaurant is a major stand out in a neighborhood that otherwise offers more conservative dining options.
Everything was superb!! Sushi fresh and wonderful! The restaurant beautiful
Server was outstanding. He made the evening very enjoyable. Sushi was excellent.
Excellent food and great atmosphere, look forward to visiting again.
I have taken guests here many times. This was the first occasion with a disappointment. The lobster miso soup that looks so good on the website - was not. The broth was lovely and rich. I had a nice chunk of tail meat in my bowl, however, the lobster in my friend's dish could only be described as miserable scraps. Mostly this consisted of inedible gills and a little bit of inaccessible meat. I shared my lobster with her.
When I mentioned this issue to the server, she shrugged.
For a restaurant with such normally high standards, this was quite a let down.
There are so many excellent choices on the menu, that there is no reason to order the lobster soup.
Not a typical restaurant destination for Niagara-on-the-Lake but should not be overlooked. World class fresh sushi. Highly recommended.
When we first walked in, the first person to help us looked like they actually wanted to assist us. But when the manager (I'm assuming they were the manager since they were wearing a blazer and had a different outfit from the servers) came along to help us I don't think I saw one smile out of them. I know it seems pretty trivial to be unhappy with the manager not smiling but it really gave off a weird vibe for the rest of the meal.
We sat next to the sushi bar and the sushi chefs were nice, they greeted us and smiled while we watched them make our rolls. The food was good, I really enjoyed the miso soup and the maki rolls were great! There was dust on the soy sauce bowls though, I tried to rub it off but it didn't seem to help that much so I just ate the sushi without it.
The ambience was calm; I didn't have any problems with that.
Overall, the food was good, it was cosy, but I didn't like the service.
Really excellent menu and I would say some of the *best* sushi I've ever had - so much so, that I will visit again if I return to NOTL. The serving staff, however, left much to be desired. I'm never looking for perfection in a server, but we found ours to be slightly rude and disappointing –making unwelcome comments to us over the course of our dinner and acting annoyed when I asked about the dessert menu (poor her, she had to go over it a second time when I returned from the restroom). Additionally, water should be served in proper water glasses and not teacups. Small details that left an impression.
The food was great! Fine sushi. Good service. However one main course was hot ; the other, cold - both delivered as they should be. The problem was the hot black cod main was served about 15 min before the cold sushi dinner. Such a lapse shows a lack of organization in the kitchen. The waitress “comped” us the black sesame ice cream dessert ( which was delicious) & we appreciated her concern. However the problem was the kitchen’s, not hers. Not a great dining experience.
We were in Niagara on the Lake for the first time. No idea where to eat but we both love sushi and saw that this restaurant has good reviews. Lovely food and service. I'd definitely recommend it.
We love Japanese food and this restaurant was lovely. The food tasted wonderful and looked beautiful
My wife and I have eaten here on a number of occasions, one of the things we missed when we moved to Niagara was a good sushi place and this fits the bill big time. We took our boys this time as it was the youngest's birthday (24) and we had a great time. The food was fabulous as always and Yoshi our server was fantastic. I can't say enough about Masaki, in fact I have a birthday coming up in a few weeks and I may have to go back.
This was the third time we have been to Masaki. The food was spectacular and authentic Japanese Tempura and Sushi. The house sake was warm and delicious. For a special occasion this is the place to go.
Absolutely delicious sashimi. My husband and I both enjoyed it. And the service was top notch.
I would recommend this to sushi/sashimi lovers.
Enjoyed our meal but the location was not ideal.
I'm not one who likes eating in the lower level of a building.
But it's a great improvement over the "old" restaurant that was in the same location.
Would definitely order food to be taken out.
I went here for lunch with my fiancee as we had lots of great things about the authenticity of this restaurant. We tried the sushi lunch and maki lunch. Both were excellent and we particularly enjoyed the spicy salmon maki which was quite unlike any we've had at other places.
