This was our fifth time dinning at Masaki. Their quality of fish never disappoints me and we were especially lucky last night as a new shipment just arrived from Japan! My mom is a picky eater and she gave the assorted seafood in a hot stone pot on rice a perfect 10/10. Server was vey attentive and patient with our questions. Will definitely come back again!
Just a great first experience...…. highly recommend !!!!!!!!!
Best Sushi in Niagara - Service and food is always amazing
Great experience. Very friendly staff, food was delicious and restaurant was very clean. Will definitely go back.
Fabulous sushi. Ive never had better even though I’ve paid a lot more. Service was lovely, attentive and unimposing. Ambience was perfect for my needs.
The restaurant decor is modern and simple. Its staff is courteous. I had requested for a quite spot to allow for good conversations since it was for my date night out with my husband, as soon as we arrived we were led to the quietest and most private spot in the restaurant. I appreciate they paid attention to my request and honor it.
I live in Toronto and eat at Japanese restaurants regularly and found their fish quality to be way better than most places in Toronto. I did not expect that level of quality for a Japanese restaurant in Niagara On the Lake.
We were also introduced to how to drink plum wine the Japanese way and how Japanese would fry fish bones as snacks (we tried it at no charge and it was absolutely delicious). That was a bonus new experience for us.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner experience there a lot and would highly recommend.
Memorable meal that is was so good on so many levels. We ordered sashimi dinner, black cod, tempura udon and spider roll. The sashimi was fresh and the makeral and salmon belly stand outs on the plate. The cod was cooked to perfection, the broth was incredible. Will go back again! Every dish was outstanding.
Everything was exceptional!! We got the 3 course Omakase - chef's choice - , and the quality, taste and presentation of the food was amazing. Also, the server showed what true hospitality is. He really did an outstanding job and it was very obvious that he cares about his customers. Thank you!
We had an excellent dining experience. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful as we are not highly experienced with Japanese cuisine. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Yummy. Authentic miso soup and delicious sashimi.
Still the best Sushi place in Niagara area. Right in the heart of Olde Tiwne Niagara on The Lake. Worth the drive from Niagara Falls. Service is great and food is awesomely prepared and the taste is authentic thanks to the great chefs behind the sushi bar. Even our server Yoshi is Japanese. My wife and I frequent this place since it’s our favourite Japanese resto. My pictures say much more than my words.
My husband ordered the sushi dinner and he said it was the best sushi he ever had. I ordered the dynamite roll and it was also one of the best I’ve ever had. If you love sushi it is worth coming here if you are visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake.
It's my second time at this restaurant. The food and service were great. Requested sushi bar seating as last time it was full.
One suggestion is if the menu or the server could have notify guests that sushi in the Premium Sushi Platter has wasabi inside as it does have a strong taste and some people might choose to opt out wasabi if notified ahead.
Waitress was cold and matter-of-fact . made us feel like we were imposing on her by being there. Food very average. Would never go back. Too many other great dining options in NOTL.
Have been there many times prior -- last meal very disappointing. Food still amazing, service lacking.
Wonderful. The service was exceptional. The food was amazing. I enjoyed a miso glazed black cod that was flavourful and silky in texture. Brilliant!
All the food was excellent value, super fresh and broths were made in house. The staff was attentive and the service efficient. I would definitely return, the lunch maki special and dynamite rolls were ample portions and the vegetarian gyoza were the best I have tasted. Light and fresh. The miso soup was outstanding, not the average run of the mill miso you get at most places. This is a true Niagara gem, everyone should try Masaki. A great pre-theatre dinner/lunch option close to the Shaw festival. A nice quiet atmosphere, can have a conversation easily with friends.
Masaki is in the highest tier of Sushi restaurants in terms of the quality of the food, at least it’s Sushi and Sashimi. We’ll absolutely put it on our list of great restaurants to return to.
Food was amazing and portions very generous, really enjoyed my time.
Neglected in the beginning.we waited about 10 minutes before the lady took our drink order. Edamame was burnt, sushi pieces were small for the price. She was not friendly at all.
Amazing quality sushi - we have never left disappointed!
Arigato!!! Fresh fish from Japan. Wonderful agedashi tofu. Beautiful wines from the Canada Niagara Region.
This was our sixth time at Masaki's and it never fails to impress. The food is excellent, the staff are superb even to chefs saying "goodbye" as we left. It's definitely on our fav's list (a difficult list to get on) and we look forward to next time
I have been to this restaurant for 4 times already, i used give the 5 star all the time, but this time I just feel the food is not good as before. The noodle is too salty, the Sushi dinner is not very high quality as usual.
It might because that day is busy, but i don't think it could be an excuse for a good restaurant.
i will come back to try again sometime in the future, hope they can doing better.
Excellent sushi. Attentive service. Great ambience.
Still the best Japanese restaurant in town and of all Niagara area. Food is fresh and authentic and service is very good. Place is clean. What more can you ask for.
Really nice dinner before a theater performance at the Shaw Festival. The Lobster Miso Soup was intriguing but a wee bit disappointing in terms of flavor . . . though it was still very tasty with an appropriately theatrical presentation. I had the more expensive sushi plate of premium nigiri. All of it was excellent, with the scallop being one of the best I've ever tasted. Worth every penny! My partner had one of the maki and was impressed and pleased, but perhaps not quite as much as I was with my nigiri. I let her eat a couple of pieces as compensation . . . and she agreed with me about the excellent quality.
Excellent food, very good service (especially with menu choices- very knowledgeable about ingredients of each dish) would definitely recommend and return
Our Server very helpful explaining how 'hot' the side dipping sauces would be and offered substitutes to improve the enjoyment of the pairings.
This was our first time trying this restaurant and we were very pleased with the food. Everything we ordered from appetizers to sushi was fresh and delicious. we will definitely return.
Fantastic quality sushi and great addition to NOTL for locals as well as tourists.
Incredible food and service. Best sushi we’ve ever had...so, so good.
This restaurant is a gem. We have been coming to Niagara-On-The-Lake for many years. We were quite excited to see that sushi was now available. It was terrific. We’ve had sushi all over the world. At Masaki the fish was fresh, the cuisine authentic. The staff were helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.
I eat Japanese food on a regular basis. This place now ranks as one of my favourites. The key ingredient here is freshness. We shared a sashimi platter of 21 pieces (7 varieties, 3 pieces each). The selection was inspired and not what is usually served in the southern Ontario market place. There was no hint that any of the pieces were every frozen on their way from the ocean to our table. Tenderness, full flavour and perfect texture were all the result. Nice selection of roles and the Karaage was perfectly crisp with no excess oil. Same can be said for the tempura assortment.
Staff are attentive and eager to please. Great find in Niagara on the Lake which generally boast a strong food scene.
Fairly small restaurant below street level, where the food is the star. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and compare favourably with other restaurants in the area. We felt the lighting was a little harsh on our Friday evening visit (more subdued lighting might have helped to create a more cosy atmosphere), and the ambience was a little quiet (we booked an 8.30pm table). But then genteel Niagara-on-the-Lake isn't really a late-dining kind of town! The skill of the chefs and the service from the hosts were both excellent.
Was in Canada for a unexpected get a way with my husband and we love sushi
This place was a cute little gem tucked away the food was great and the server was very good and informative will go back again when in Canada
We wanted a local restaurant with great food. The town was one of the loveliest places on earth. The area’s landscaping, neighborhood, and quaintness offered a fabulous way to spend a day. The service and food was top-notch.
Everything we had here was first rate. The sushi was very fresh and we got to try some fish we haven't had before. We don't eat shellfish, and when we asked the waiter if the chef could make us a sushi plate without any of it, he smiled and said, "Kosher! Sure!". So if you avoid shellfish, don't let that stop you from coming here!
Food is always fresh and done perfectly. Chef Kerry and Chef John want to please you with their expertise. Service is great especially if Yoshi is serving you. Thansk Yoshi!
