Dinner was fantastic. Employees made you feel very welcome. I would highly recommend it.
Our evening was quite pleasant. We are not fans of sushi but still enjoyed it. Their signature shrimp dish was remarkable.
Absolutely fantastic meal! This is our second year in a row and we will be back for sure next year. Highly suggest making reservations.
My wife and I tried this restaurant as we were celebrating my wife’s 40th birthday weekend. This restaurant was highly rated so we thought we give this Japanese restaurant in NOTL.
It is a relatively small and quaint restaurant located below the Moffat Inn. So you have to take stairs below street level to enter the restaurant. So it may be hard to find.
We had the chef special (5 course Omakase). We started with an avacado salad with some lightly seared fish that was so refreshing and light. A perfect start to our meal. We then received our sashimi plate that included blue fin tuna and fluke. Next was a plate of 3 different cooked meats served on top of a salt dome. One was the wagyu beef tempura, a grilled shrimp, a fried fish. The beef was so tender and moist, the best of the three. We were then served a plate of slightly cooked tuna in a ponzu sauce. It was like tuna, it was simple and lightly seasoned so that the taste of the tuna was not overpowered by the other ingredients. Last we were served a dessert that was had two types of ice cream and a cake.
Overall, we had a great time. This restaurant would be comparable to many of the nicer Japanese restaurants in Toronto (Japango, Sushi Kaji, etc) and other major cities in North America. So an unexpected great surprise to find in NOTL!
Was surprised to find the restaurant almost empty for our booking at 7.00pm on a Saturday evening. We later found out that they had some large bookings that cancelled at the last minute. This meant that the ambiance was very quiet which was a shame. Apparently not representative of a normal Saturday evening.
The welcome and level of service was excellent. The food came quickly and seemed to authentic Japanese. The place was very clean and we definitely enjoyed the food.
Overall recommended if you want to have a Japanese food experience.
The food at Masaki was good, however the service was absolutely terrible and ruined our experience. My husband and I were seated for about 15 minutes before the server finally came to take our order. Two tables were seated after us and had their orders taken before ours. Our food was delivered in an appropriate timeframe minus one sushi roll. We finished our other food and rolls, had our plates cleared, and still waited for another 15 minutes for our last roll. The server never came to apologize and mention that our last roll was on the way. She seemed like we were a nuisance to her.
This place is phenomenal! If you’re in Niagara-on-the-Lake be sure to go here. Flavors are wonderful. Super fresh food. Great staff. Highly highly recommended!!
It’s in a basement so not very handicap accessible- but they may have another entrance. Food and sushi was excellent and fresh
I was disappointed. I came when the restaurant first opened up and was blown away with the service and the food but not this time. I don’t know if it is because it was the late afternoon chef and staff, but when I spent close to 400 dollars, I do expect better.
Wonderful authentic food !
Service is hands on!!
They recognize the regulars !!
Would be nice if they offered a discount for local patrons.
Love the hot stone bowl. Quite to experience. Food was fresh and delicious and staff were very knowledgeable about the menu to answer questions.
Excellent quality of food. The menu had great options to choose from and there was not one thing that we ordered that we didn’t like. Service was excellent as well. We look forward to returning.
Absolutely amazing! Best vegetable sushi we’ve had. The service was impeccable as well.
very very fresh fish also oysters, great Suki cocktail, highly recommend
Amazing! The staff wrote down exactly what they had in terms of vegan options and the service was outstanding. The food was incredible!!!!!
The food and service made it a memorable anniversary dinner. Could not of asked for a better experience. Food was delicious and the service superb.
Service was incredible, Yoshi was so attentive and kind. The food was amazing, the best quality sushi I’ve ever had. It was very enjoyable to watch the chefs prepare our food while we sat at the bar. We will be back!
Impeccable service and the quality of the food was outstanding. Very authentic Japanese cuisine.
Cozy atmosphere, personable staff, great fresh food. The chef takes great care in presenting a lovely dish. Attention to detail is wonderful.
Went back three nights in a row! Great food, amazing staff. Recommended!
Fantastic food and lovely pampered experience!
Fui a cenar con mi hijo y mi novia. Me gustó. Me encantaría que fuese un poco más “japonés” pero entiendo que todas las comidas tienen adaptación al lugar donde están. La pasamos bien, lo recomiendo.
good food and good service, glad to have some variety in NOTL.
This restaurant is not bad.....but not worth long drive if you do not live in the area.
It is not the best Japanese restaurant that I have been to but if you are in Niagara area and craving for Japanese food, it is worth trying.
No miso-soup is given with either Sashimi dinner or Sushi dinner.
They charge green tea too.
So....every little thing is being charged and portions are small.
Again.....not bad.....but not to die for.
10 out of 10 would eat raw fish here again.
Delicious meal and very attentive service! it capped off a perfect day!
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will be back again!
Always a wonderful experience
We always have a wonderful experience at Masaki. Food quality of this visit was a bit below our expectations. The Ebi Mayo never disappoint. The fish selections were not as great and the nigiri sushi fell apart when my husband picked it up with his chopsticks. He had a much more enjoyable experience when we had the omakase set at dinner at our last visit. My sashimi lunch was only a plate of sashimi with no bowl of rice. I would order the chirashi next time as the value is better and seems more filling.
Quality of sushi here is second to none. Wonderful, helpful servers and great ambiance. I've been here a few times now, and will keep coming back. A true gem.
This is an outstanding sushi restaurant, and easily one of the best restaurants in NOTL. The sushi chef is skilled and creative and the staff are attentive. Now that Masaki has appeared on a couple of Toronto "best of" lists, the diners have shifted a little from locals and tourists to include hipsters on a mission. All good.
Masaki is consistently excellent! This is the place where I bring my favourite guests.
We love this place, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable
And friendly and food is fantastic
As someone who has been to japan, my sister and I are always trying to find authentic Japanese restaurants that transport us. This is one of those places and we would go back a second time.
Really awesome food and s vice was outstanding
One of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to, globally! Extremely fresh, very well made, a must go place for those who appreciate sushi.
Delicious food. Excellent service. It's a relatively small, cozy place. Enjoyed it very much.
Excellent, fresh food. Great service. Will definitely be going again and would recommend to anyone who appreciates good sushi and sashimi.
Service was not very prompt. Our main course was very slow - over 30 minutes with no explanation at first (they explained and sent over a complimentary appetizer) to produce the special sashimi we ordered. It was excellent. We were seated close to another table with animated conversation - not a particularly romantic setting but quite authentic. I would go again for the food quality - but would also tell them if I had a show to go to or other deadline.
