Mastro's Steakhouse - Chicago
M Bar Piano Lounge - 4:00pm till ... Daily.
This place never disappoints great food great service, worth every penny!!
The service was extremely poor. We averaged 30-45 minutes between every course. It was so slow, in fact, that we ordered our dessert (cake because it was my husband’s birthday dinner) TO GO as soon as our main course finally arrived. And still! We sat waiting for our to-go cake for 20 minutes AFTER paying the bill - which was $350. The food was expectedly very expensive, but the portions were very small. A $50 piece of fish was tiny, bland and boring. I could have prepared something better at home for half the price. I wouldn’t return.
Porter house is to die for! Cooked perfectly. Service was a little slow. Delayed on bread and frequent check ins but overall great! Thank you for providing birthday cakes to my dad and boyfriend!
Excellent overall quality and service. Mikayla our hostess made sure to make this special occasion memorable. Our waiter was exceptional with his recommendations and pairings for the entrees we ordered. Highly recommend Mastros for anyone interested in enjoying a high quality dining experience.
The price was not in line with the taste of the food. The salmon had no seasoning despite the olive tapenade. The lobster mashed potatoes were very similar to KFCs mashed potatoes. I didn't enjoy my entree. I spent 186.00, not happy!
The music was way too loud
They couldn’t get the speakers adjusted and you kept hearing static over the intercoms and it was extremely disruptive and disappointing
My guests even had to say something to the waiter as we couldn’t enjoy our meal or hold a convery
Can't beat Mastro's. Was a bit disappointed with the noise level on the first floor dining room. Prior to this experience, I've only dined on the second level.
Outstanding in every way!
This is my 20+ time at Mastro’s Chicago. This was my least favorite of them all. Food took an hour to come out (2 bone in filets med rare). The steaks were more on the medium side. Didn’t send them back because didn’t want to wait any longer for food. We had an appetizer 45 mins before our meal, so we weren’t that hungry when food came out. Our waiter (Justin) took our order, and never stopped back once to see if we were ok. I had to grab the wine guy multiple times if I needed anything. He was nice though. Then to know my bill was $250 for mediocre everything, was hard to swallow. Especially on our 2 year wedding anniversary. I can’t say I won’t ever go back, but I can say it will be a while.
5 diners; 2 steaks overcooked, 1 steak under cooked, salmon way over cooked. Lettuce not fresh. So noisy could not hear across the table. Cannot use as a business dining location.
Very disappointed with our meal, server was great but food was slow, steaks were cooked incorrectly, won’t be going back
We had a wonderful meal and the service was exceptional.
Gotta go see Omar! Very helpful and genuinely good guy. Knew every detail about the menu and had amazing service. Food was delicious! Overall both food and service exceeded expectations.
Worst experience ever I was my reservation could not be found I had to wait an hour and 15 minutes to be seated. Even though I was called the day before and confirmed that I was coming. Woman told me to call open table about why they couldn’t find my reservation. People who just walked in were seated before me. It took 30 minutes to get bread. My server walked off in the middle of taking our orders and never came back. And my stwat was not cooked the way I asked. Overall ruined my entire birthday I could not go on with the rest of my plans due to the long wait even with a reservation. Never returning again.
Very long wait for a reservation. We waited 45mins after our reservation. Everything else was excellent. Food was great.
Overall, a good meal. The steaks are the feature but are really not all, that special. Wet aged and grilled - could have this steak anywhere. Everything else is very good, over the top portion sizes and flavors.
You can count on superb service and excellent food when you dine at Mastro's. This is our 4th or 5th visit and each time, we never leave disappointed. Our party of ten all tried different apps and entrees. The jumbo shrimp was the fan favorite, followed by the salmon platter. The bone out filet was the entree favorite followed by the lobster tail. Do yourself a favor and order the gnocchi side. Its rich and flavorful and could be a meal by itself. And don't forget the butter cake!
Slightly noise challenging and filet ordered medium rare came medium. Otherwise everything was lovely.
Everything was perfect
Mastro's is one of my favorites for sure - have always had amazing dining experiences and this date was no different. The filet was super delicious; I think the super hot plate the steak is served is a nice finishing touch that enhances the meal. The server was on point and the live music was awesome as well - they played Toto - Africa, which was fantastic.
The only issue I had was that it was hard for my guest and me to hear each other. There was a loud buzz in the restaurant. Plus our table (along the side with the cushioned bench) seemed pretty wide, making it hard to hear each other, across that distance. When we return, I'll ask for a different seating area or for a stand along table. Otherwise, great experience. Master's should be better known. It's as good as Morton's, Gibson's, Ruth Chris', etc.
We really appreciated the complementary chocolate cake to celebrate the release of my new book. That was a surprise because we did not make a big deal out of it, but our waiter elicited the info from us.
Wonderful service; food was hit or miss. The steak in particular was pretty bland unfortunately. Lovely seafood tower.
First time dining. Enjoy ourselves.. Noise level was a bit much but will definitely visit again.
Everything was great. Omar was a great server. Best steak ever, and the Mac and cheese were fantastic.
Food was exceptional and our waiter the best! Very attentive. Kyle was our server and we couldn’t have enjoyed our meal any more.
Great food. A little pricey...
Room is loud and very dark.
We have dinner at Mastros every time we visit Chicago. On this visit, it was so loud, we couldn’t even hear each other at the table. It was quit disappointing.
Delicious meal and the music in the bar was a nice after-dinner treat.
The restaurant is dark, quiet and cozy. The steaks are good but not good enough to warrant the price. Our service was terrible. We were ignored and then “treated” to more wine we didn’t order in a futile attempt to make up for the poor service.
Service was great. Laura in the bar was awesome!!!
We are familiar w Mastros
Food is always nice
Jeff and his side team were great
See you next time
Servers were very friendly and attentive. Great steaks and side orders. 10 out of 10 on my scale.
Food was delicious, staff was very friendly enjoyed the scenery
I loved everything. Awesome! I will definitely be back again!
The service exceptional and the food was delicious!
We were celebrating a birthday and the atmosphere was wonderful. There was just enough going on (there were musicians as well as games on in the bar) to make it interesting without going overboard. We will definitely come back.
Remains one of my favorite steakhouses in Chicago. Great food, great drinks and top notch service
Good service and good steaks - always a winning combination. Also liked the ability to get 1/2 servings of the sides for a single serving. Really reduces food wastes. I'll be back whenever I am in town. Knocked Morton's out of the "go-to steakhouse" list.
