This restaurant was very good. Service was great, and they had a nice varied drink menu as well as wines and sake. Everyone at the table loved their food. We had beef, scallops, sushi rolls including a vegetarian option. I think it is not getting its due as an excellent restaurant option in the suburbs. It is in downtown Elmhurst which provides neighborhood ambiance as well. I recommend trying Mata Ne!

We were greeting as soon as we arrived by the hostess and was immediately sat at our table. Cindy was our server and she was very prompt in taking care of my wife and I. They were out of the bottle of wine we selected but the sommelier made a suggestion of another white and it was great !! The food was exceptional!! We had the crispy rice wagu tartare and the paradise sushi roll for appetizer. Both were great !! We split the Chilean sea bass and it was Great as well. The only bummer was that they had ran out of the key lime. But that’s ok, we have already made reservations over Memorial Day weekend to return and hopefully the will have it then !!

I enjoyed myself here and would return. However, I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement. I wish the menu had more reasonably priced main entree items to select from. There wasn't enough selection of entrees if you wanted something other than sushi, and the prices seemed too high for the entrees. The lowest priced entree was fried katsu chicken for $24. I felt it was the same case for the appetizer prices vs the value. The exception was all the great sushi. The sushi was within a reasonable price range, good portions and were delicious. I loved the Paradise Roll. Server was also very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.

Food is great, service is awful. Another patron at a nearby table gave similar feedback to the manager. We tried Mata Ne when they first opened and chalked up the poor service to the restaurant getting started. We gave the place the benefit of the doubt and tried it again. Experience was the same. Server rarely checked in with us. We had to ask a manager for water and cocktails. Several times. At one point we went directly to the bar. Some food items we ordered never arrived. We waited patiently to get dessert, but too much time passed without anyone coming by, so we to walk to server station to ask for the bill. Stick to take-out if considering this place. You won’t be disappointed with the food.

A truly enjoyable experience from the clean cool decor and lively vibe to the pink bubbly and outstanding food! We tried a lot of different fish dishes and they accommodated a gluten free friend. We ordered more of everything after our first round. We especially enjoyed the tuna carpaccio, the tuna sticky rice, lobster crabmeat roll and the Brussel sprout kale salad. Andrew was beyond welcoming and our server was attentive and adorable!

Had 7 pm reservation two days prior to Saturday. Wife walked in ahead of me, gave time, they told her they were full and busy and didn't know when they could seat us. Offered to seat us at bar and wait. No, that's not good enough, a certain wait is acceptable. After telling her that, they wind up seating here anyway in about 5, so why the hassle? They acted like the reservation would not be honored. Weird. The food we received was good. Wife and I ordered rolls, mine was more complex. Hers came out first so we shared, and she ordered another. Her second order came out before my first, so we cancelled my order. Table next to us got more attention. The limited food we had was good. The waitress apologized at least twice for the slow service, so good rating for her. Seating is packed tight, so at peak time we were there, it felt very cramped. Noise level can be a matter of taste, we were there at a peak time and it was VERY loud. Not easy to talk. I'd maybe try again at lunch or other off peak time.

Service is so-so. The noise level in the restaurant is ridiculous. There was a large party seated at a hightop that ruined the dining experience for my group. The waitstaff was obviously catering to them at the expense of other tables; they were intoxicated and obnoxiously loud. Won't be going back anytime soon.
