    Food was very tasty, fish tacos maybe the blandest item I had but still tasty. Loved that most things were gluten free but having heard there were GF churros, was extremely disappointed that they changed the recipe to one with gluten. Mocktail selection small but tasty. Main marks down were for the noise level. I know it's a downtown vibe but felt like I had to strain to hear or be heard. Just not the thing I like to have when trying to talk to the people I'm with.

    Delicious margaritas. Not too sweet with good flavor. Liked Quac and chips. I had fish tacos and my husband had fajitas al carbon. Both good. Excellent server named Hayley and other staff all very attentive.

    I’ve been looking forward to going to Amaya. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped it would be. Our server was unhappy to be there. He did not smile once. He was attentive but attitude plays a large part in a dining experience. The food was good enough but way over priced for Mexican food. I think they see hoping to be upscale Mexican food and that is not the case. Not only that, my friends carnita dinner (which was very pricey for what she got) was mostly fat. She couldn’t eat half of it. The black bean side was sad, $5 for a bowl of watered down black bean soup?? It was not good. Needless to say we’re we will not return. I would like to note the bartender was very friendly and the place was nicely decorated. Also it was essentially empty on a Sat night at 8 but even then, it was too loud to hear everyone at our table.

    Maya has amazing and unique cocktails, and their tacos are delicious. The Crunchwrap supreme is delicious and huge. The patio is an outdoor oasis, it seriously transports you to a tropical place! My only suggestion would be to offer happy hour on Fridays as well.

    We had an excellent meal at Maya's! Started with creative drinks including a tasty guava margarita. Shrimp skewers were incredible, guacamole was well-balanced. Veggie tacos were a well-spiced creative blend and steak fajitas were flavorful with side sauces that allowed us to adjust heat to our preferences. Topped off the meal with a deliciously creamy arroz con leche. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

    My husband and I have dined at Maya before and have always enjoyed it. This time we took our son who loved the food and cocktails! This had become our goto Mexican restaurant in Charleston!

    Menu had been changed and they didn’t have what we were looking forward to. Ordered drinks upon arriving before ordering food but they didn’t arrive until we were halfway through eating - the manager comped those without us even saying anything. Food was okay but nothing exceptional and it was very loud inside. We had requested outside seating, but they weren’t seating outside because it was a bit chilly.

    Our experience was amazing. Service was the best we have had in a long time, and the food was well prepared and presented. The Al pastor was on point and the ceviche was delicious. Definitely recommend!

    We ate in the back patio Saturday night at 6pm. Our waitress was great. The bartender appeared to be new and we had to send our Paloma back. The bartender in the front part of the restaurant fixed the Paloma. They were out of our beer choice. The food was good, but not special.

    We made a day of reso for a bridal party of 7. Our server Sophie was so accommodating and made us feel really special! We were definitely Woohoo girls, but she let us squabble away, her easy-going go with the flow attitude definitely made us feel comfortable and set the mood for a great rest of the night!  Good and drinks were great! Wasn’t crazy about the ceviche only bc I like authentic, but their signature mezcal drink was amaze. Would go back!

    Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Started with house margarita-tasted like a Tequila gimlet, strong and tart. Guacamole nice texture and good chips but overpowered by lime flavoring. Steak fajitas awful-no flavor and believe the meat was previously cooked and reheated. For $27 would have expected more. Do not recommend.

    The space is so pretty and relaxed. Our server, Anna was knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire meal. The food was excellent with large servings at a decent price. The cherry on it was that the entire menu, minus to items, were gluten free! Being someone who can not consume gluten, this was such a pleasant surprise. 5/5 recommend Maya.

    We used to love Maya, but it’s changed. Everything was way too salty (esp. chips, salsa & guac). The fish tacos were too fishy. The steak fajitas needed toppings. The place was empty except for the bar. The bathrooms were closed and we had to use the facilities in the bar upstairs. This is not the restaurant it used to be.

    The atmosphere was upbeat, and the staff was friendly and very inviting. The chips were outstanding I could not get enough of them. The drinks were very good and the main course was plentiful and delicious. I would go back here in as many times as i could.

    The steak fajitas were not good at all. The steak was tough and stringy. My daughter’s fish tacos were overcooked. On a positive note, the barroom drinks were quite good and the service was friendly and professional! O would return for the cocktails and appetizers.

    Great ambiance, great service. Drinks were fantastic. Food was so-so and for the price it wasn’t worth it. I would return here for a happy hour but probably would not come back for dinner.

    Sit outside. They have a lovely covered area that is very pretty. Food was very good. The only reason it got a 4 star was the guacamole and chips were so salty it wasn’t edible. Otherwise very good!

    The queso and homemade chips had a little kick to it (not too much!). My husband said his shrimp skewers were delicious and loved the sauce (he's not a fan of yogurt but really liked this). Glad we went after a Dock Street Theater production. Very cute vibe. Didn't get to go outside because of the rain but ambience indoors was very nice.

    My 3 friends and I so wanted this place to live up to the hype but unfortunately it fell a bit flat. Our waitress was the best part of the night, she was great and we appreciated her genuine effort to make things better. But the first and most obvious problem was the sheer fact that we had to shout just to talk to each other. The volume was off the charts loud and it made trying to carry on a conversation impossible. And the second thing was the spice level in our food was uncomfortably excessive, even for those who enjoy spicy food. We will say the peach appetizer was amazing, but the tacos just set our mouths on fire… and not in a good way.
