The history of McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revitalized a restaurant on the brink of closing, McCormick says, "I like nothing better than being a good host." Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. The two formed a partnership in 1974, creating Traditional Concepts, a precursor to today's McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants. In 1979, they opened the original McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon. The combination of an open imagination and a respect for tradition are what makes McCormick & Schmick's the classic and successful business that it is today.

Food was good. We went for a birthday dinner. The waiter was personable, but we waited quite a long time for him to come back to take our orders. The place was almost empty. So not sure why service was so slow. We all ordered fish, the flounder & salmon were very tasty.

We came here to celebrate Mother’s Day, but the food was incredibly overpriced and the service was very slow even though the restaurant was not that busy when we arrived. Our waiter was nice but was MIA for most of the meal plus we had to flag him down for things like refills and to put our order in. A bummer of a dinner on a holiday.

Great dinner and night out. A very good meal of stuffed salmon (although it seemed a little smaller than in the past). A very nice pinot noir paired well. The upside down apple pie was a great finish.

As always, the food was great. We were in a little cubbyhole for four people which I thought - wrongly - would be quieter. Our booth faced several long tables that were crammed with diners having a loud celebration. There is no ambiance in McCormick & Schmick so don’t go there for romance or even conversation. Just don’t talk and enjoy the food.

Outstanding dinner and dessert! First time here and we all had different entrées, drinks and desserts. Everything was delicious with the exception of the macaroni side which was underwhelming for only having a few select sides. Other than that, best dinner we've had in a very long time.

Went here to celebrate a 75th birthday when normally would go to hazlewood but decided to try out a new venue. Disappointing from the start. We were serenaded by fruit flies at our table throughout the meal. Service was poor and not authentic. Had to send back the meal twice and finally didn’t even eat the second time. The shrimp tasted like it had been cooked in dishwater and the lobster clearly was not fresh and borderline not ok to serve. There was something floating in a drink which was probably a fruit fly and both soup and coffee never came to the table. Food was auctioned off by a runner and server was patronizing. Will not be going back and will be sharing my experience with others.

The food, as always was excellent. Literally melts in the mouth. Prices seem to have leveled off, but are high. Wish they would serve a more healthy bread option. Service has been spotty our last several sittings, water does not get refilled, our order was missing one item, a special request for asparagus on one plate made it on all the plates as a substitute. Good, but not what was ordered. Older, more experienced waiters are missed.

The food was absolutely delicious, the chef even came out and greeted our table. Our waiter Garrett was wonderful. This is the second time we’ve had him and he remembered everything about serving us from a couple months ago. Very pleasant Easter Sunday experience. Thank you. We will definitely be back.

A fantastic meal with excellent service. We started with the shrimp kisses which were amazing. I had the sea bass and my wife had the 6 oz filet. Each cooked perfectly. Desert was so good, apple pie and cinnamon ice cream. Will be back again for sure.

Our server, Frank, made the evening very interesting! He mixed our Experiential cocktail table side with flare. Wine choice was excellent, food superb (Wedge salad, NY Strip and Salmon entrees). It was fine dining without the white linen, and an excellent choice to celebrate our anniversary.

I was totally underwhelmed with the food this past Friday night. The filet was one of the most bland that I’ve had in a long time, the mashed potatoes were barely lukewarm and the asparagus was think and not very plentiful. I was thinking it would be better.

Excellent service. I felt the menu was limited with selections and prices were higher than expected. Everything is ala carte for any side salad, etc. As the restaurant filled up the noise level was very loud and difficult to hold a conversation as we were in an open booth with no upper side panels. Our server was very attentive and courteous. Parking is difficult, but they have a ramp in the back that is not too far to get to.

Celebrated my wife’s birthday - this is her favorite restaurant. My wife and daughter had the Salmon and I had the fish and chips. We noted many servings of fish and chips coming from the kitchen. All meals were deemed excellent. We each ordered salads before the entree. I always enjoy the wedge salad here with the blue cheese dressing. They gave the birthday girl a complementary crème brûlée - a nice touch. We celebrate most of our birthdays at this restaurant.

This chain just doesn’t cut at anymore. Food was very meh. Wedge salad-lettuce was not very crisp, colorless uninspired. The rest of the dinner wasn’t great. It’s connected to the Westin so that may be its customer base. Except for the bar area, it was all but empty on St. Patrick’s Day. There is a reason wise. Waiter was good.o wouldn’t go
