We loved our visit at McKay's. It has a beautiful garden entrance area decorated with string lights and lots of greenery. The interior of the restaurant is a warm and inviting "homey" environment. The service was great and the food was delicious!

Our server was good. The food was average at best. The dishes were served by the kitchen and came flying out of the kitchen. We ordered oysters to start, then mussels and entrées. All three came out almost at the same time. We basically had everything on the table at once. Which begs the question is everything pre-prepared? The mussels were over cooked, dry and there were a few bad ones. They did take that dish off our bill, so kudo's to them for doing that. The oysters were excellent and our entrees were underwhelming. We were literally in and out in 45 minutes, that's how fast and on top of each other the courses came out. They need an expediter that knows what they're doing. Our entrees were the Autumn salad with salmon added and the Porcini Duck pasta. Maybe it was just an off night.

This is an amazing restaurant! The ambiance of the historic home was charming but the service and food was even better. We all agreed that our food - including the short rib and crab cakes and an amazing bean and corn stew - was the best we had had on our vacation so far.

The seasonal cast-iron Brie was delicious, as were our main entrees of the truffle seafood risotto and the cioppino. The cocktail list was also not a disappointment. Atmosphere sitting outside was great.

We had a terrific experience at McKays. Has a few cocktails before dinner, then the baked Brie for an appetizer. Wow was that awesome! I had the truffle seafood risotto and my wife had the cider muscles. Both terrific. Our server was attentive but not bothersome. If we ever get back to Bar Harbor we will definitely go back.

Chef seemed inexperienced. Made very amateur mistakes. Pretzels didn’t taste like pretzels, the cheese sauce separated. Cioppino had decent flavor but was very sandy. Halibut very over cooked and the Duck pasta was extremely oily. Service was fantastic.
