Incredible meal from start to finish! Service was impeccable!
Best of everything!
Spare, clean and spacious restaurant with excellent service and nice selection of wine , sake and Japanese Whiskey. Omakase was just OK. We chose the higher-end Omakase. The usual uni, wagyu, and fois gras was good but not that surprising or amazing. The pumpkin soup and lobster courses we felt were the best. Overall, a fine meal.
Food was outstanding and service as well
The restaurant's team of chefs produce some truly novel and delicious dishes. My wife (who lived in Japan for many years) and I had the premium omikase and were delighted with the chef's selections. The space and ambiance are warm & relaxing and the service is welcoming and very helpful.
Friday relaxation. I enjoyed the service, and it’s worth to take two hours on enjoying such a meal. More light taste will be better.
Tasting menu was phenomenal! Sake selection is very good too.
Mifune is a hidden treasure, and one of the best-kept secrets on the NYC fine-dining scene. The creativity and excellence in execution, along with the warm service, have made this place or favorite restaurant in the city.
Fantastic creative, refined and attention to every detail, beautiful presentation.
Was it the main chef's night off?
We found certain food combinations weird and unappetising.
Some duck jelly over a not-so-fresh oyster, or a totally unnecessary ground coffee beans over a fish fillet.
Then the duck dish (I think it was duck): thick, fatty, and uncrispy skin, plus the meat that could not be cut with a knife = not palatable.
Not to completely take away from the restaurant:
The courses arrived with a lightning speed
The service - top notch
The dinnerware - unique
The plating - artistic
Overall, this dining experience fell short of my expectations.
This was the best value for a tasting menu that I have had in New York City. Delicious food and fantastic service. Highly recommend this Mifune
Excellent, delicious food. Very creative yet true to the flavors of the ingredients. Great, impeccable service. Not sure why they don't have the Michelin star yet. Much better than many other French Michelin-starred places that try to embrace Japanese techniques, such as the one in Midtown. Mifune almost feels like a bargain for what you experience here.
Do the $40 upgrade, and you won't regret it. Great premium Sake list. Food goes lovely with Sake, but they will pair beautifully with white and red Burgundy wines as well. Can't wait to go back.
Omakase tasting menu. Superb. Some many flavors blending perfectly together. I would come back for this over and over!
Exceptional wait staff who were attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Food was spectacular. Best meal of my entire life.
Came for restaurant week and had the omakase menu. Service and food were great!
You can stop researching now. You’ve found the restaurant where you should have that next special night out. I took my wife there for her birthday and woke up the next day still thinking about the food. What drew my interest was the Japanese / French fusion motif. Two of our favorite cuisines blended together?? I had to give it a try - and it did NOT disappoint. Over the past ten years my wife and I have taken each other to a different Michelin (or “Michelin-level” if they don’t have a star yet) NYC restaurant for our birthdays. So, we’ve tried about 20 or so over the past decade. During that time, we’ve kept an informal running list of the top 2or 3 that we feel have stood out among a group of already outstanding restaurants.
Mifune just made that list.
Each course is brilliantly imagined, beautifully presented, surprising, exciting and dynamic in its flavor profile. We did the “upgraded” omakase tasting menu and the additional money spent was well worth it. There was a lobster tail, curry and quinoa dish that was absolutely out of this world, and the grilled eel course is melt-in-your mouth-savory and leaves you wanting to lick the plate clean.
The creamed corn and truffle shavings soup is so creamy-sweet decadent, it could work as a dessert.
The sake menu is extensive; we are not sake experts but we ordered the 3 sake sampler and asked them to “surprise us” and they brought a wonderful selection of sakes. I had no idea sake could be so smooth, fragrant and complex.
The service is top-tier, of course, and the ambience is perfect for a quiet, intimate dining experience that makes it effortless to focus on the food and the company at your table.
Chef Yuu Shimano came out to say “hello” to us at the end of the meal and, like his food, he was warm, sophisticated yet unpretentious, quirky and delightful.
Bravo, Mifune. We will definitely be returning!
Food was amazing. Service was great. Amazing atmosphere
Great staff, omakazi menu interesting
We went for our anniversary and had the best time.
I was born and raised in Japan, and I can tell that their meal is very creative yet authentic.
The Omakase course was amazing value for the quality of the food, too.
You will never regret!
Excellent service and environment, and most importantly, amazing food!
Great service and amazing food - NOT sushi though! :)
Can not stress enough how amazing this experience was! The tasting menu was outstanding, every dish unique and being a different flavor profile to the meal. Worth every penny and then some. Will go back as soon as I'm back in the city. Don't pass up a chance to try this restaurant
We went for the 10 course Omakase tasting menu. As it was a birthday celebration we decided to upgrade for the lobster and A5 Wagyu. Amazing experience! Each dish was finely crafted down to the smallest details. Each course had so many flavors yet exquisitely balanced and matched.
Our server Takashi expertly presented and served every dish and drink. All courses were absolutely delectable and out of this world.
Incredible multi course tasting menu. Opted for the premium ingredients upcharge and had lots of goodies including 2 rounds of uni, foie gras and lobster. Everything was great and some new things like a Japanese custard with mushrooms that tasted like French onion soup. Cantaloupe vegan ice cream was insane!! Overall totally lovely
This place is honestly amazing. French/Japanese with some very interesting takes… several dishes were completely unique things that I had never had before. The upgrade is worth it, it added another dish that we thought was possibly the best course as well as upgraded proteins.
Tried the pre-fix dinner, had a wonderful experience. The staff were great and the food was delicious. A great restaurant in NYC that is very worth returning to.
Came here with girl friend for dinner. Ordered 8-course pre fixe menu with upgrades (lobster and wagyu beef).
The food is quite descent. Rather than "Japanese and French fusion", it is more like Japanese fusion and French fusion standalone. The spice for the main entree, the wagyu beef, is impressive and the fat just melts in mouth. I love the fresh mozzarella in the Caesar salad!! Every course is like an upgraded version of its traditional dish.
The service is awesome, and they offer service in both English and Japanese (I did not ask for French...). Well worth the price, would come back for new menu :-)
Mifune is a gem. Any excuse to go there works. It's a birthday, yep. It's an anniversary, yep. It's Thursday, yep!
Lovely experience in a minimalist space that keeps the focus on the outstanding food and attentive service.
a wonderful meal experience - truly one of the best meals i have ever had
Dishes here are art. Fav restaurant in NYC!
Amazing experience. Excellent and delicious food and beautiful presentation. Spectacular tasting menu!
The food and service were really good. They were accommodating to our being early and a food allergy.
Fabulous service and flavor! Dishes are well-composed and artfully presented. The only “complaint” was that there was too much food! 😅 We had a wonderful evening. Highly recommended!
fantastic market driven menu, great attention service, excellent blend of Japanese and French food - the saucing is impeccable!!!! the bonito broth out of this world - plus the welcome addition of Celia Lee, pastry chef from the Modern, whose dessert menu complements the market driven offerings of Yuri Shimano with the same attention to detail and taste! would come back again!
Had a great experience! Stuff is amazing and very friendly! They also brought a small cupcake for my friend birthday
food was just okay. nothing remarkable or memorable. no printed menu of what was being served for the night. best part was dessert. their pastry chef knows what shes doing
Had my anniversary dinner and was really satisfied.
The food is fresh, tasty. Service is super good.
They even have a pastry chef works on dessert only.
Hope I can go back very soon.
