The food was absolutely amazing on NYE.
All courses were great, the alcohol pairing was perfect.
The waiters were very knowledgeable and spoke about each dish really well.
Food and drinks came out at perfect timing between the courses.
The only issue is that it was really expensive, about $200 a person. But I guess that is the cost for a special occasion dinner.
We cannot express enough how wonderful our experience was on NYE ! It will be in our memories for a very long time. Our server was absolutely fantastic as well. We will be back. Bravo to all the Minami team for making our NYE dining experience ... way beyond our expectation !
Amazing！ We are here for New Year's Eve. Although the dining table is a bit small, the food brings us a perfect experience. The ingredients here are very fresh and beautifully presented. My friend said: "It feels like his tongue is dancing!"
Fantastic pressed sushi. Great flavours and innovative ingredients
Service was awesome
Food was nice and the atmosphere was excellent! Highly recommended! Will go back again!
Very good food, though not outstanding. Sushi was quite special however. Portions small. Excellent attentive service. Okay
We had the à la carte menu and the food was superb -especially the Oshi Sushi. The service was excellent and all our needs were instantly accommodated. Thanks for a lovely evening.
We love Miku and thought the sister restaurant would be the perfect treat before heading to the theatre across the street for a Christmas date. The booth was perfect. The service was friendly and attentive. The drinks were good. Unfortunately, the meal was marginal at best.
My husband had the Beef Sukiyaki which sounded terrific on the menu, but was not. There might have been 2-3 bites of beef in the dish and otherwise it was bland. I ordered the Kaisen Roll (recommended by the server) and the Confit Tuna Roll (they were out). My second choice was the BC Tempura Roll (also recommended by the server). Both were tasteless with too much rice and very little sushi, despite the Kaisen Roll including salmon, maguro, unagi and even uni.
In the future, we will stick with Miku.
It was pretty loud, but it didn't really bother us since the food (and the service) was amazing! Amazingly delicious rare japanese dishes, very good cocktails, nice desserts.
The chef's tasting menu was a wonderful choice, and a great way to try different items on the menu.
The service was excellent and the ambience was lovely.
Our server Joy was delightful, carefully explaining each course and wine/sake pairing. Food was beautifully presented and tasted extraordinary (we had the Chef’s tasting menu + pairing). We added the Ebi Oshi to our order which was a highlight among highlights!
The interior is stunning. Would highly recommend
Amazing experience. Food was delicious! Staff are super friendly and energetic. Shout out to Brian!
Salmon Oshi is melt in your mouth and the Wagyu Beef is a must-try! My only complaint… salmon sashimi needs some help. Pieces are way too small and the green sauce ruins the beautiful salmon flavour. Overall I can’t wait to eat here again!
I had a great time dining and chatting with my friend! The food was tasty and the service excellent. I have only one very minor complaint, and that is the bathroom counter housing the basins had a messy appearance from hand washing splashes. It's probably unreasonable for me to expect the establishment to keep the counter always looking perfect.
I had a great evening!
The service was helpful and friendly, from the hostesses at the front door, to the bus staff. Our waitress, Joy, was very attentive and explained what was in each dish, and what certain words were that were on the menu. When we had trouble reading the digital menu, she brought us a paper copy so we could read it more easily. The food was a delight to the eye, and delicious. Portions were a good size, not mega-size, which allowed us to enjoy an appetiser, drink, entrée, and the chef's decadent, special chocolate cake. We were dining for a birthday celebration and the birthday person's cake was brought out with a birthday candle and chocolate wafer on it. These lovely little attentions made it a very special supper!
The only down-side was that it was a bit cold in the room, and the music a bit loud, but we were there for about 2 hours, and did not feel pressured to leave. It was an experience we definitely will repeat! Thank you!
Food was half -half. Some of it was delicious but half of it was pretty bland . Not worth the price point overall
Service was excellent and enjoyed the evening. Highly recommend it.
such fun innovative sushi dishes
sake selection terrific
diy hand roll temake and sabo aburi were the highlights
Excellent service with great ambience. Noise levels were high and some dishes were priced high for the portion however the quality of the food was excellent.
Food was mediocre at best. Noisy and sterile atmosphere… would not go back.
We went for our anniversary and ordered the holiday kaiseki. The highlights are the octopus with crispy potato and wasabi mayo was our favorite from the first course. The scallop and oyster with uni were good but not nearly as great as the octopus. For the meat main course the steak was perfectly cooked sitting in a pond of peppercorn au jus. Sitting softly beside the perfect stake was a small mound of fois gras. So smooth and decadent. It was first experience with fois gras and I was not disappointed. For the sushi course there were 5 pieces of perfectly combined fish. The yellow fin came with a spicy uzu mayo, a small slice of jalapeno and sandwiched in between perfectly cooked rice was some tangy pickled radish. There was Atlantic salmon soaked in beet root. Torched salmon, Japanese mackerel, and sockeye all paired with the most delicate flavors. Dessert was a dark chocolate cake drizzled with raspberry coulis and fresh strawberries wedged with coconut, caramel tuiles. Beside that was a scoop of soft, sweet raspberry and strawberry sorbet on top of raspberry gelee. All in all this was one of the best experiences I have had and it was all facilitated by the server who's name I cannot remember. This gentleman walked us through every dish and was accommodating to our dietary needs. The staff deserve all the thanks we can give. Lastly, I have to mention how absolutely beautiful it is inside the restaurant. This is a place everyone must go to and I will be recommending it to everyone who will listen.
Thank you so much for the beautiful review! We are thrilled you had a fantastic time dining with us and that you chose Minami to help celebrate your anniversary. We will definitely let the team know how much you enjoyed it and find out who was taking care of you that evening to thank him. We look forward to seeing you again and hope you have a safe and wonderful holidays.
This was our second time dining here.
Because of the time we tired the chiefs choice taste menu , my husband said this is the best sushi he’s ever had in his experience of course in GTA even better than its top-pest Yorkville Hanna .
Great food , excellent service.
We’re satisfied indeed
Thank you Jacquline for the lovely review. We are happy to hear you both enjoyed yourselves on your second visit. We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Excellent food at a reasonable price for this quality. The staff were friendly, professional, and diligent. All safety protocols were followed. Great ambiance and decor. The noise level was quiet during our lunch.
First time here. Having a pre-theatre lunch. Nice assortment of choices on the lunch menu. Had the Poke Bowl. All seafood were very tender and tasted fresh. Serving size very generous. The menu options could best be described as traditional with an upscale twist. My partners sashimi lunch was similarly very fresh with interesting sauces and sides to round out the flavours. I liked the design and decor. I remember the prior restaurant that was at this location and they have done a nice job changing up the look and feel. Can't wait for next summer to enjoy the patio.
Service was very good. They took the time to fully describe our meals and were appropriately attentive.
I’m a hard marker so only Michelin level get five stars. Food was high quality and very attentive staff. Table in the middle was a bit noisy and busy, felt like we were in the hallway right beside the bussing station. But decor is great, buzz is fun. I’ve been to the Vancouver Minami and remembered the aburi there, note for anyone who’s tried it that the hamachi and mackerel doesn’t come with as Smokey a flavour as the salmon probably due to the lighter nature of the fish.
Oshi Sushi was a gamechanger - we got the Salmon and the Ebi Oshi, and it was like any other Oshi that we've ever tried. The drinks were fantastic -- we had the Apricot Old Fashioned, the Margarita and the Miso Espresso Martinis. There were some items that we had that we weren't huge fans of, but that wasn't anything on the restaurant, we just didn't have the pallete for it. The Wagyu was great as well. Service was top-notch and very attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu, and the company as a whole. Would recommend and will definitely be coming back
Food and Service we're great - 100% Would Recommend
Food was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient.
They need to find a way to isolate the entrance from the rest of the restaurant. Too many cold drafts coming in. Very uncomfortable in winter! Noise level is high, partly due to music being too loud. Ask for a table far from the entrance or dress warm.
The servicing staff did extraordinarily to make our anniversary special.
Amazing service and outstanding food. !! Very noisy. Don't expect to be able to have a conversation easily.
very fresh, fun atmosphere, loved the oshi sushi.
The wait was too long for our food. The server should ask if they should explain what’s on our plate, before taking up 10 mins to explain everything. We just wanted to eat and we were with someone that knew Japanese food.
I rated the service with combined with kitchen and front.
I think if the wait was max 30 mins then I would have given a better rating. Our server was great. She knew her stuff. But the wait for food was too long and we only went for lunch around 12:15.
I’d go back again if someone wanted to go, but I personally don’t have a strong desire to go back.
Everything was perfect but it was so loud from the bar
Food was delicious. Cocktails are a bit overpriced but they have a daily cocktail special and happy hour specials. Overall we enjoyed our meal. The service was friendly and polite. We did wait 50 minutes for our apps to come out so don’t go expecting a fast experience. It is a night for dining.
Loved it and will definitely go again and recommend it to my friends
This is a great place to go out to eat especially with friends the atmosphere is amazing and so are the servers I couldn’t ask for any better.
Excellent service! Beautiful restaurant and really cool food.
