Seven nights a week, live local bands take the stage at Montreal’s hottest live music bar and bistro. Modavie’s spirited setting encompasses two intimate floors and sets the scene for a night of great tunes and top dining . The bistro’s far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef, duck and inspired pasta dishes.
The whole evening was perfect. I enjoyed the meal with colleagues after a full day of client meetings and we were sat at the best table in the restaurant near an incredible experimental jazz group that was playing. We all ordered from the pre-fix menu and everyone’s meal was delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves live music playing but not too loud where you still can’t enjoy the company of your table.
Exceeded expectations. Great vibe, food and drink. Our servers recommendations were outstanding. Will certainly return next time I’m in Montreal.
Ambiance sympa avec la musique live. Bonne carte des vins. Repas bon sans être exceptionnel. Un peu trop cher...
Enjoyed our dinner however I did not understand why we were seated next to the kitchen with all of the open table availables
Fun restaurant, great live music, delicious food in classic old port location
Très bon service et très bonne nourriture. J’y retournerai assurément.
Ambiance was good but maybe because we sat right next to the band it was quite loud for conversations. However the food was great and we had a great time. Service was also great, our waitress was very nice!
I had a nice experience overall. Loved the life musique, the cozy environement, food was nice. The only complaint is that we were asked to leave before 9pm as our table was reserved for 9pm and we were not informed of this when we arrived. Besides this unpleasant moment we had a nice soiree. We were celebrating my recently past birthday.
Great place (looks nice, good drinks and entrées) but main dishes weren't excellent.
The welcome was warm, ambiance and live jazz was great, the food delicious and reasonable, and our server Heloise was charming, attentive and very knowledgeable.
Great food, the server was very attentive and kind. Would definitely go back
Lovely atmosphere & good food & wine
Great live music on a Saturday night. This is a great spot for a special occasion (I was there for a birthday). The food is good and priced well in the context of downtown Montreal. The cheesecake dessert was delicious! The ambiance was great but overall what made it so wonderful was the amazing live music along with delicious food right in the Old Port!
After having a few bad dining experiences in Montreal, finding the Modavie was a huge and welcomed relief. They were extremely accommodating, welcoming and professional from the get go. We were a large party that they handled with expertise. The waitresses were kind, the food was delicious and the live band was an excellent touch. Highly would recommend for any occasion!
The moment I walked through the door, everything was fabulous! I highly recommend the 60 ca pre fix chef menu, the lamb was excellent and so was the live music and general ambiance
The dinner was very nice, however, I was underwhelmed by the vegan options. Service was amazing.
Truly outstanding service, good food, nice music.
No complaints, but nothing exceptional. The lamb poutine was a highlight.
Comme toujours, ce fût une expérience remarquable.
Service avec le sourire, explique les plats avec enthousiasme, respecte les demandes.
Nourritures exquises, assiettes généreuses.
Ambiance chaleureuse. Très agréable musique.
Mon restaurant préféré et de loin.
Je le recommande fortement.
Really lovely dinner with impeccable service. I would definitely recommend to anyone!
Me and my spouse went during our trip to Montreal. Tons of positive reviews so we thought why not try it out.
We had the house specialty, lamb rack, and also the French onion soup. We were there on a Thursday night, they have live music starting at 7pm which is great.
We were sat near the band beside a window, the perfect seats.
The French onion soup, although I did not try it was apparently very very good!
The sesame encrusted lamb rack was pretty good; however, was a relatively small portion for the 40$ price tag on it.
Overall, great atmosphere, very extensive wine list, live music after 7pm, and food was great but portions somewhat small.
I would recommend this restaurant!
Wine is great, service was excellent. Sat next to jazz player and could still have a nice conversation.
This is our second time here and the second time that we have given the restaurant a chance. We started with the soup which tasted like pureed carrots heated up. Zero complexity or flavour . My husband had the lamb....burnt...dry...beyond recognition . I had the pasta with lamb. It was a melange much like what you would throw together in university out of sheer desperation with dregs from your fridge. Totally inedible . The store-bought sorbet was good. Price with taxes and tip? $211.09. Why the tip? Because the service was excellent!!! Food....beyond bad.
Everything was very good. Highly recommend this place, and especially the lamb chops.
Loved the live music
Was not expecting a fixed menu, that was disappointing and expensive. We had an 11 year old who ate nothing at all and we had to pay 95.00 for his meal. He ended up at McDonalds on the way back to the hotel. Two great aunts in their eighty's did not want soup nor a salad, no one ate the sherbet. So a lot of waste of food on the fixed menu.
Our server was amazing! He coordinated with the live band to sing happy birthday to my partner. Great experience!
Too quiet and casual for the New Years Eve dinner.
Delicious holiday menu! Went with some friends on New Years Eve and it was just divine. Great service and lovely live music. Highly recommend, worth the $$
Great live music Montreal experience. We visited during the busy new years time, staff was accommodating, food was good value for the price. Must try in Old Montreal!
Lovely dinner- traditional moulles frites exceptional, service great and we will surely return.
Great restaurant !
Food and live jazz were mediocre at best. Slightly disappointing for a Saturday evening. Found out the hard way that this is a “tourist trap” restaurant.
We have made special trips from the US to Montreal just to go to Modavie for years and rave about the restaurant to our friends.
Great restaurant with a good ambiance. Live music is a nice touch and the food was delicious.
Dining at Modavie was an enjoyable experience. I would definitely go back again.
The live music is amazing and the food is superb
Atmosphere upstairs was excellent with the live jazz music and window seat! Lamp chops were very good and service was adequate.
