Very friendly and accommodating. Server was extraotdinare.
Awesome dining experience. I would suggest reserving a window seat or being specific on where you want to sit. Wait staff was super professional
We made reservations a couple of weeks ahead of time and once we arrived the first that was said to us was ‘we will need the table in 2 hours’. That set the feeling for the rest of the night. Food wasn’t bad but when service is rushed and you’re made to feel like an inconvenience then it ruins the whole night. So many better restaurants in the area. Would never go back.
Excellent service and flavorful dishes. The fireplace, live music, and hardwood floor/stonewall interior make the space warm and memorable.
So I made a reservation just to see the live band and they told me my reservation wasn’t where the band plays it’s in the other room but in the website you can’t even see which table you are reserving so at the end we got a table where the band plays but in a place where you can’t even see the band but the band was fantastic.
Was really looking forward to dinner at Modavie. Really disappointed, however. While the server was pleasant, 3 of 4 orders were incorrect and food was... meh. The lamb, which they claim to be their specialty, rivaled that of a Greek diner. Great place for a drink, but nothing more. Save your money and go to any number of Old Montreal’s quaint restaurants. Easily the low point of our trip. Sad, but true!
Super ambiance jazzy. Repas exquis. Recommendations accords mets-vins excellentes.
The service was amazing! Our waiter had many pairing selections that we found superb. The rack of lamb was the best my husband had ever tasted. I had the mussels which - in a delicious white wine and cream sauce - were gone too fast! Dessert was a decadent brownie with caramel sauce! Yum! And because it was Valentines Day, there were rose petals on our table ❤️. We will definitely be going back! Modavie came highly recommended. It exceeded my expectations.
Excellent evening. Great food, great service, and EXCELLENT live music. Loved it.
We had the set Valentines Day menu. All 3 courses were great. Good wine selection, and suggestions.
Jazz band was great, just an added bonus to an already great meal.
The entire experience was soured by the service - as soon as we mentioned we were only there for drinks and appetizers, our waitress became visibly annoyed and had little time for us afterwards (I should also add I had called the restaurant the day before to make sure it was ok to just have drinks and appetizers, since it was Valentine's day, and they assured me it was fine). Shouldn't be made to feel guilty because we aren't contributing to your gratuity as much as you would like.
Waitress not smiling to no accommodation for my gf and myself to have a Jazzy night since i was told to live before 7pm on valentines day
Great food and atmosphere. Loved the live jazz music.
Food wasn't great but very nice band and ambience!
Incredible!! Julien our waiter was possibly the best waiter we ve ever had😁. The service, the ambiance, the food, the location, the live music: it was all amazing. I came from Victoria, BC and it was one of the best experience of my trip. They made my mom (who was turning 80) feel very special too! Merci😊
Great place! Go here, you won’t regret it.
Great food and service but super noisy. We actually had to move tables . They were really accommodating though.
Great restaurant with live jazz band. The band was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive.
We were here in Montreal to celebrate my sister’s birthday for the weekend. I didn’t realize you had to specify in the reservation to be close to the live music, so when we arrived, I asked to switch tables. They were so accommodating and made it happen so it was perfect when the band sang to my sister later on the evening bc she was able to see everything . Everything was perfect. The food, wine, ambiance, SERVICE and the MUSIC. This restaurant is just an example of why I now love Montréal. It’s such a beautiful city with really genuinely nice and down to earth people. Can’t wait to come back!!
Great food, atmosphere, service, live music and very reasonable price. Highly recommend.
The food is consistently excellent and the service is impeccable!
Dommage!
Went to Modavie for the Happening Gourmand. The service was warm and welcoming. However, for the Table d'Hôte for the event, you have three choices for each course and they had added extra fees for the most random plates (+9 for the onion soup when there's no extra for the foie gras, +6 for the Apple Crisp when it was cold and had been frozen). Finally the only vegeterian options were the onion soup for entree (extra fees!) and the tofu pesto pasta which didn't taste fresh at all and had enormous pieces of tofu. Overall, it was a disapointing experience for me. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant at an affordable price and putting extra fees on some plates because they're the most popular just goes against the whole principle.
Excellent!!! Tout était parfait. Merci pour tout.
Set menu was great. Reasonable prices - big portions. Super service. Delicious French onion soup, tender salmon, lemon tart, even a unbelievably special brownie. Nice jazz music.
Very nice welcoming by the host and service was great. We enjoyed our evening. We will definitely come again
I had a good time with my wife. Good food and great service.
Very good food, cool service and great music
The environment is nice; however, it was a little bit noisy. The service was good in general, but we had some details, no knives, we waited around 30 min to have our appetizers, and they told us at last minute that one of our appetizers was not available anymore. The main dish had the right quantity of food, but no too much taste. I was expecting more. The dessert was tasty!
50 th anniversary
I really liked this place. The problem is the band came when we were finished eating and we waited 45 minutes for our food and we were only 2. It was pretty expensive for what it was but the guy was very nice even though he was constantly switching from french to English while we were constantly trying to talk to him in french. I went there for my one year anniversary with my girlfriend and it wasnt that bad of a place.
It was for my boyfriend’s birthday and he was really happy. He had a great time and meal.
