   The food was not seasoned enough. My husband had the duck which needed salt. I ordered octopus linguine. I could not find any octopus in the dish.

   For our wedding anniversary we had a wonderful meal. I absolutely loved the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection! My husband has the steak frite and it was also delightful. The staff was exceptional and attentive. I would definitely go back!!

   Service was very slow. It wss so noisy we could not hear the music which is why we went. The food was good but not worth all the noise.

   We read the rave reviews and thought we couldn’t go wrong. Wrong! Service was fine but the food was absolutely nothing special. My husband had the rigatoni and said I make it better. That’s saying something. Calamari was heavily fried and the sauce was greasy. So disappointed in the food.

   We had a wonderful lunch dining experience — the meal, the service and hospitality were a delight. The manager Lorenzo was warm, funny, and added to a great time. The duck confit, lamb chops, steak frites, and cheese plate were delicious. Highly recommend.

   Food was good. But none of our dishes were outstanding. One of the reasons we came was for the live music but we could barely hear it. Service was very friendly but got one of the orders wrong, forgot to bring an item, etc. Nothing major, and we were full so it was ok. They brought out warm bread and butter twice, which was very appreciated. Great location

   We were seated upstairs. Tables were a little cramped. I got the typical tourist French meal: French onion soup and steak frites. Both were very good, although the soup seemed a little too oily on the top (broth flavor was superb though). Steak was a little underdone and hard to cut in places but otherwise tasty. Price was a bit steep; for two onion soups, my meal, the duck confit (also good but really fatty) and a soda it came to over $100. But it’s in a tourist area so it’s to be expected…and while it wasn’t the best French restaurant I’ve ever eaten at, it definitely was in the top ten. The live entertainment wasn’t super loud, which we both appreciated because of all the ambient noise that you get in buildings with high, echoey ceilings. Overall, we had a great time and would come back.

    The Musician was great performing a mix of Rock and Blues. Food was average at best. Service was mostly great. I asked the waiter for a bottle full of regular water, so I don’t have to wait for him to come around with it. He brought it, but chose to charge 7 dollars for it without telling me.

    Our waitress was extremely attentive and the food was exquisite. My hubby had steak and I had the ratatouille dish - excellent food and presentation. We will definitely go back.

    Nice place , excellent food. Unfortunately we arrived close to shift change. We ordered appetizers and drinks from menu(lunch). Server came by after a while and dropped another menu on our table and said “ dinner menu, more stuff on it “ and then left. After a while we wondered where she had gone as we wanted to order dinner. We sat for a while looking around when another server obviously saw that we needed help and came over. She told us that our server left after shift change. We are in the restaurant business so we know how that goes . We should have been told that she would turn us over to another server . She just left us with no explanation. She apparently did not even tell anyone else that we were there and would need further service. Thankfully Jessica helped us and made sure to give us excellent service. She was very nice and efficient. Our dinner was excellent and Jessica made up for the previous poor service.

    As we checked in, the hostess after saying hello, warned us that we only had 2 hours to eat because the table was reserved for 7:45. We wanted to have a peaceful dinner, have some wine and extend the dinner but it is pre set for a quick meal. We were very disappointed with comment. She could have managed this issue differently and more cordial Never go back. Food was ok. Nothing extraordinary Very disappointed.

    this is the first time we've been back since the pandemic. we ate outside on a lovely evening. we were cautioned that service might be slower because there was only one waiter covering the section, but we had no issues at all.

    Went for dinner with a group of 10 people, we had a reservation for 5:30pm and were seated immediately. Our server Laurie was absolutely fantastic. She took our drink orders and they were served promptly. Food was ordered and again served promptly. The portions were very good and delicious. Between our group of 10 we had lamb, pasta, burgers and steak and bone marrow. To note I was told the burger was the best burger my friend had ever had.

    The food was decent and the prices were fair but the service was very slow. Our waiter took a 15 minute smoke break and was clearly in view of us looking at him but he was more interested in having his cigarette. Also the table next to us was next to a railing that fell over into the street and the lady look like she got hurt. I would not go back to this restaurant.

    Food, drinks and service were great. I cut my filet mignon with a butter knife. The restaurant ambiance reminded me of a pub, I was expecting it to be more upscale, with table cloths at least. It was pretty loud, a bit hot, only 2 bathroom stalls for women so there was a long line which was annoying. Overall the food, drinks and service made it worth it.

    Nice ambiance and live music, but food was just okay. Bone marrow appetizer was burnt and poutine was average. Lamb papardelle had very little lamb in it. My son enjoyed his steak frites. Good service.

    First time at Modavie, and we will definitely be going back. Lots of yummy options on the menu. Very French bistro vibe. Nice location in old Montreal. Good wine list!

    I was in Montreal for a week and booked all of our restaurants ahead of time. I initially picked Modavie to celebrate a special occasion because of its live music and menu. I could barely hear the live music over the restaurant noise; the food was nothing special and the tables were especially cramped together. We didn't even end up ordering dessert here because it was just too loud with diners - we ended up celebrating elsewhere. Perhaps the dining experience is better where the music is but if you're not seated there, skip this place.

    It was my second time at Modavie and I still had an amazing time, just like when I first went. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable and the live music adds such a great ambience, without being too loud. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Thank you Modavie <3

    Food was amazing and the service we recieved was excellent! It is a bit noisy inside esp when the live music started but we were still able to hear each other. The live music was a nice touch and gave good ambiance.

    We went for lunch. Food was over-priced and unimpressive, if not disappointing, Service was mediocre. Perhaps a nice place for a drink and some live music but in terms of the quality of food, you'd be better to walk on by.

    Did not enjoy the music, it was not jazz. The food was not great, mussels were too small and rather tasteless, my friend did not enjoy her steak frites, the dinner was cold. Will probably not return.

    The food was delicious…onion soup and risotto! The ambiance with musician was fun and the service was great! My only complaint was the small table but I would go back in a heartbeat!
