It was my first time and Modavie did not disappoint! Ii sat near the live music and was surprised it was just the right volume and didn’t over power the room. The food was delicious and had generous portions. Service was fantastic and will return in the near future when I’m in town again. Oh yes, I can’t forget the extensive wine list :)
Super nice! Enzo was amazing!
great as usual good music and good food will go back
I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is delicious, the service was excellent and the live music was amazing. I will definitely return.
Food was great, we ended up going two nights in a row just to try different stuff.
If you want to listen to some Jazz... then fine. But if you're looking for good food, you'll be out of luck. We were 8 people and we all ordered a variety of items on the menu. These included some of their recommendations as well. Aside from the calamari appetizer which was ok, the rest was mediocre to bad. The lamb burger was tasteless, the oso buco was just bad and the steak was hard and chewy. They do have a great selection of wine. And our server was very nice. The music was pretty good, but don't go there if you have any issues with loud live music. We didn't have an issue at all so we enjoyed it.
Ambiance et décor trop bien! Les bands live trop bons et les éléments architecturaux ancestrales font vraiment une soirée spéciale!
I was unsure where to book as I had such a short time in Montreal. I wanted something little upscale but not beyond my means. This place was perfect. The ambiance was spectacular. Live jazz music was amazing and the staff were very attentive even on such a busy night. When we left at 1030pm diners were still rolling into the packed venue.
Starters were fine, gravlax was good but cubes were too big, onion soup broth lacked depth and seemed diluted. Main service was great, cassoulet was very tasty. Desert was flat, brownie was very standard and quite cold, lemon pie was very sour, but it was good. Great service except at the end when there was a mix up in desert and the staff seemed confused, had to wait 20 min for the lemon pie. Criticism aside, we had a good time and enjoyed our meal, but not sure we will come back.
One of my favorite restaurants in Montreal, great atmosphere service and live music in front of a fireplace in the winter.
The servers were a little slow, and the music seemed very loud, more so on the bottom floor than the upper floor. The food was amazing and quick after ordering.
Every time I bring friends or family to Modavie, we’re blown away. From the service to the food. Exceptional cuisine, with knowledgeable staff when asked which wine to pair with our meal. 110% satisfaction.
Change the cook and a better menu.
My calmars were well cooked.
I will recommend Modavie for drinks and music
In terms of food, everything was okay. Didn't love our dishes, but they weren't bad. Dessert was good. Drinks were good and the service was outstanding.
Live light jazz music. Very friendly staff and tasty food
Fantastic start to finish. The servers, the music, the food ... perfect. Friendly, fun, and we were full when it was over!! We all thoroughly enjoyed this dinner!!
The dinner, dessert, drinks, and service were amazing. The owner greeted us when we entered and made us feel welcome immediately. Our server, Daniel, was incredible throughout our meal. The lamb was great, but the real winner was dessert. I strongly recommend this restaurant as every aspect of our meal was wonderful.
Amazing place to eat right downtown Montreal. Great staff and taste food. We would eat here again! A+
Great place in Old Montréal with a delicious Old Fashioned while listening to awesome music. Would definitely go again!
Merci pour la soirée
Excellent all around. Waiter was perfect.
We were in town for a business trip and this restaurant was recommended by staff at the hotel we stayed at. It was a great place and we highly recommend it for anyone
Very nice experience. A lively atmosphere with live jazz music playing. A wide menu selection and friendly staff. Steak frites was great!
Very friendly and accommodating. Server was extraotdinare.
The food at Modavie is great; authentic French cusine. Service was very attentive. Great central location in old Montreal. Make sure to have a reservation on the weekends since it is very buse.
Awesome dining experience. I would suggest reserving a window seat or being specific on where you want to sit. Wait staff was super professional
We made reservations a couple of weeks ahead of time and once we arrived the first that was said to us was ‘we will need the table in 2 hours’. That set the feeling for the rest of the night. Food wasn’t bad but when service is rushed and you’re made to feel like an inconvenience then it ruins the whole night. So many better restaurants in the area. Would never go back.
Excellent service and flavorful dishes. The fireplace, live music, and hardwood floor/stonewall interior make the space warm and memorable.
So I made a reservation just to see the live band and they told me my reservation wasn’t where the band plays it’s in the other room but in the website you can’t even see which table you are reserving so at the end we got a table where the band plays but in a place where you can’t even see the band but the band was fantastic.
Really great customer service, our waitress was delightful.
Was really looking forward to dinner at Modavie. Really disappointed, however. While the server was pleasant, 3 of 4 orders were incorrect and food was... meh. The lamb, which they claim to be their specialty, rivaled that of a Greek diner. Great place for a drink, but nothing more. Save your money and go to any number of Old Montreal’s quaint restaurants. Easily the low point of our trip. Sad, but true!
Super ambiance jazzy. Repas exquis. Recommendations accords mets-vins excellentes. Mention spéciale à Daniel: un serveur super attentionné, passionné; un guide pour comprendre de quoi se délectent nos papilles. On va essayer le brunch du samedi bientôt!
The service was amazing! Our waiter had many pairing selections that we found superb. The rack of lamb was the best my husband had ever tasted. I had the mussels which - in a delicious white wine and cream sauce - were gone too fast! Dessert was a decadent brownie with caramel sauce! Yum! And because it was Valentines Day, there were rose petals on our table ❤️. We will definitely be going back! Modavie came highly recommended. It exceeded my expectations.
Excellent evening. Great food, great service, and EXCELLENT live music. Loved it.
We had the set Valentines Day menu. All 3 courses were great. Good wine selection, and suggestions.
Jazz band was great, just an added bonus to an already great meal.
The entire experience was soured by the service - as soon as we mentioned we were only there for drinks and appetizers, our waitress became visibly annoyed and had little time for us afterwards (I should also add I had called the restaurant the day before to make sure it was ok to just have drinks and appetizers, since it was Valentine's day, and they assured me it was fine). Shouldn't be made to feel guilty because we aren't contributing to your gratuity as much as you would like.
