    Good meal good location good ambience. Just don’t sit upstairs where the live music is if you want to hear your dinner companions. The musician was great but precluded us having meaningful conversation except between songs briefly. Sit on first floor

    nice ambiance but not terribly inspiring menu (unless you really like meat). Quite expensive for what it is and while we were there 7.30-9 there were two musician breaks so not a lot of live music. When they played it was enjoyable though. Cocktails were good

    Lovely restaurant, Lorenzo was a wonderful host. Delicious food and great ambience . Enjoyed listening to light jazz performance by Sam while eating. Would go back !

    Our waiter Anzo recommended the lamb chops and they did not diasspoint. Paired it with the escargot appetizer and a nice Pinot noir. For dessert the lemon tartlets and Cafe Monavie. Service was great, and food delicious. Atmosphere charming. Highly recommend for a special night out!

    Unfortunately the restaurant did not meet our expectation. Rack of lamb at $55 was cooked properly but was very tough. Not what you expect for Quebec lamb and what the restaurant said they are known for. French onion soup was good but not great, same with creme brulee. Disappointing dinner in Old Montreal where you expect excellent food.

    We celebrated our anniversary dinner here last night. The fried octopus appetizer was tender and delicious. Lamb chops with potatoes and steak frites were both sumptuous. Waitress was wonderful. Music added a lovely touch. Highly recommend!

    We loved Modavie! We ended up front row on 2nd floor for the jazz band during dinner which was a delight. The service is great and my only complaint is that thy make you order the entire meal - al courses- at once and brought the food way too quick, barely giving us time to finish the prior course. We had the cheese plate- very good. Would have been helpful if they told us the cheeses we were eating. Also shared scallops which we incredible, the salmon entree which was good, and the cavatelli pasta which was the loser - too much tomato and noodles were too aldente. We had profiteroles for dessert and they were average. The highlight of this restaurant is the wine and the entertainment!

    This was a 10/10 experience. The server was incredibly kind to help us navigate our food needs, the food was INCREDIBLE, and then there was some amazing jazz. I cannot recommend enough going to Modavie!

    Les moules étaient moins succulentes que la dernière fois, est-ce le goût du Pernod auquel je ne suis pas habitué et qui était trop insistant? Je ne peux le dire. L’ambiance , le service, la musique étaient parfaites. Cependant le coût du repas était, à mon avis, excessif. 132$ plus le service pour deux tables d’hôte à 29$ chacune plus deux verres de vin blanc de 8oz et un cappuccino, ça me semble vraiment beaucoup. Ce qui fait que je ne sais pas si, malgré tout ce qu’on a apprécié, nous reviendrons.

    The foie grad was excellent. The rack of lamb and the lamb burger were not. The service was good…but not helped by a very slow kitchen. The restaurant was recommended to us, but we will not pass on the recommendation…unfortunately. We really wanted to enjoy this place.

    Excellent. I dined solo and, while some places will stash solo diners near the toilets, my server put me at a great table to see/hear the musicians. He made great recommendations and provided outstanding service. The food was superb. I recommended it to those on my tour the next day.

    From the moment Lorenzo opens the door (and we were there twice for that) LOL you are greeted and treated like family. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food is delicious and the portions adequate. Live or background music adds the perfect ambience. We will definitely be back.

    We absolutely enjoyed being greeted by Lorenzo Baldassare. He was friendly, funny, courteous and had great mannerism. Great to hear the history behind the restaurant and chef. You don't get this at restaurants! Our waiter was as well very courteous, listened to my dietary needs as I am vegetarian. Took the time to explain the menu as well as some of the wine and martinis we were deciding on. Kudos to the chef as the food was absolutely delicious ! If we had more time in montreal we would have returned to try other dishes! We've already recommended modavie to my family and friends!! The one difficult issue was the level of noise which at times made it hard for us to hear one another. Besides that, music was great,

    A special treat on our last night in Montreal. We got a nice window table after refusing original offer. Waiter was excellent and food was well prepared and we were not rushed. It was the most expensive of our dinners in Montreal but the music definitely have the restaurant atmosphere.

    We had French onion soup, Beef tartar, Garlic snails with cheese, Steak and Frits, and Salmon. All were delicious! We went on a Sunday Luncheon and not a lot of restaurants were open around that time so I definitely recommend this place. Also has live music! That was a plus. Overall 4.2/5 stars

    This is definitely my favorite spot in town! I went for a third time yesterday and it was for a birthday dinner. As always the food was amazing the service was excellent and the atmosphere very nice! I’d always recommend this place and will always be back! The portions are a bit smaller than usual however it still tasted amazing!

    We loved the atmosphere and the live band playing blues. Fantastic. Our server was polite and timely with food, ice bucket and check. The food was good. We started with escargot. Predictably delicious in garlic, oil and herbs. For dinner I had salmon with sides of veg and potatoes. I thought my portion of salmon was ok, a little small, as was the amount of veg. (3 sprigs of asparagus) . The salmon was very good. My husband however ordered lamb chops and it was a very generous - the meat portion, not vegs. Prices for food was fair but cost of a bottle of wine was extraordinarily high. We opted for cheap Cavit still at $40, way too much. I would still recommend this restaurant for quality of food, atmosphere and entertainment.
