Seven nights a week, live local bands take the stage at Montreal’s hottest live music bar and bistro. Modavie’s spirited setting encompasses two intimate floors and sets the scene for a night of great tunes and top dining . The bistro’s far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef, duck and inspired pasta dishes.
Decent food. Great environment and great service.
First off, the music is way too loud. The performers also asked intrusive questions over the microphone which were inappropriate. Basically had to come out as a gay man to the entire restaurant bc the performer kept asking me questions about our bachelorette group and why I was the only male. Not good etiquette.
Our server tried to be a show off and memorize our orders for a group of 9 (appetizers, dinners, drinks) and she had to come back 3 times to reconfirm/check what we ordered. I told her she should write it down but she didn’t... and had to come back yet again to ask what we ordered.
Saffron risotto was tasteless and dry.
French onion soup was great.
Food was great. Service was very good. Ordered a bottle and they always made sure are glasses were full. Music was excellent and they timed the table d’hôte to work with your two hour table timing well.
Wonderful service, food, and live band was great. Would go again
The wild boar was excellent , the side needed a little more taste- very bland. The lamb was excellent
Modavie provided the best experience for great dining: great food, great service, great atmosphere. Our waiter made some excellent suggestions and the meal could not have been better. Modavie will be on the list to revisit upon my next return to Montreal.
Overall it was good dining experience. Food was good, service was good also even though the restaurant was rather busy. Good French vibe and flavor. Definitely recommend to reserve a table beforehand, we went there on Tuesday evening and it was fully packed. We ordered selection of dishes and all good: French onion soup, calamari, lamb, risotto, steak... portions are big. Recommend to try!
Nous avons passé une excellente soirée,
Très bon chansonnier
Prefect experience for an out of town group with a special Montreal meal of french cuisine. Service was excellent- the staff handled our large party very well and everyone was happy.
Modavie is amazing. It offers authentic and delicious French food with a decent, affordable price! Would totally recommend.
On a adoré . C'est facile d'accès aussi. Merci à toute l'équipe.
Nice ambience, but overpriced and bland food.......................................................................................................................
A bit noisy and as such hard to hesr and enjoy music. Super hot in there. The waitress said it's always hot. Food was okay but not great. Worst part was being told after we barely finished dessert that they would bring us bill and we had to pay and leave because they had people waiting for tables. We had 3 courses and wine and wanted to relax and not be rushed through our meal. We wanted to hear music. So very disappointed in how they rushed people through. We saw others before us have same experience. Not what we expected.
Overall a nice experience. We were headed to Cirque du Soleil, that is really close by, so didn't mind the two hour limit. We ended up staying an extra 15 with no problem. Service was friendly and professional. Lots of staff filling water glasses, taking dishes away, pouring wine. We were a table of six. I had the mussels which were delicious. Someone had the salmon and they enjoyed as well. Calamari and ceasar salad were also good. My daughter ordered off the kids menu. For $12, I would expect more. She chose the chicken breast and it was litteraly a cooked piece of white meat and a big pile of fries, no sauce, no vegetables, no breading/coating on meat. Very sorry excuse for a kid's meal. The hanger steak also had a big pile of fries, no veggies. Portions for other items were small relative to price including charcuterie board and foie gras torchon. Music started at 7pm which was loud as we were seating very close but really good so we didn't mind.
The quality of food was poor !the portion of the food is small and not worth it for the money you spend
Excellent food. Argumentative wait staff
Disappointed at placement of seating. Made reservation weeks in advance for dinner at jazz club. Got the dinner but not the jazz. Seated I. The back away from musivmc. Very disappointed.
I was dining solo after a long, frustrating day and Modavie came to my rescue with wine and steak frites 😊. The food was great, the music superb, and they made my night.
We loved this restaurant. From the greeting as we entered to the excellent server and everything in between. The food was outstanding. My wife had the lamb chops and I had the cassulette of duck confit, with sausage and red and white beans. Both were up to great Paris bistro standards. The live combo made the evening that much more special.
Excellent food and service excellent service. Very personable waitress
The service was awful and food came out cold. We were very disappointed.
Food was great ! And worth it . I love live jazz music over there. We got a table just only 2 hr. Wish could stay longer.
Lorenzo and the Team were extremely hospitable. Service was great and attentive. The rack of lamb was very well done. There is live music and a great atmosphere without it being a distraction between table conversation.
Great live music !
We very much enjoyed our evening at Modavie. Our waiter was amazing (but I can't remember his name). This was my first visit to Montreal but I will definitely be back to the city and to your restaurant. We were given a recommendation to go to Modavie by the front desk clerk at Springhill Suites.
Lorenzo and the team at Modavie were absolutely amazing!! Great food, wine, service, atmosphere and music! Highly recommend!!
The food was amazing. We had the lamb burger and a catch of the day. The service was great. They had Sam Orsini playing, he set an amazing ambience with classic songs (country roads, stand by me...) and an amazing voice. Very romantic date!
Live music, fine food, beautiful people : what more could you ask for ? The lamb is amazing
Really great atmposhere and good food! My wife wasn’t the biggest fan of the salmon but all of our other meals were great! Highly recommend. Love the live music!!!
Good food great service and an overall great experience.
We had a great even at this restaurant in beautiful old Montreal. Service was very good, friendly and at a good pace. Spanish Coffee at the end of the evening was outstanding. Will definitely go back.
Amazing food, atmosphere, customer service... highly recomemd!
Cassoulet and mussels were delicious.
The music had not started while we were there, so no opinion on that.
Excellent music, food and service!
Modavie is a wonderful restaurant! My husband and I went on a Tuesday once and really enjoyed the live music (acoustic guitar and singer). This time we went on a Saturday. The quality of the music was great, but it was SUPER loud. Multiple people asked for the band to turn things down a bit...but, it didn’t seem to get any quieter. My husband had to plug his ears at times.
The food and service have always been great. There is a maple donut bread pudding dessert that is DELICIOUS. It’s not on the menu right now, but I highly recommend trying it if you ever get the chance!
