Modern decor with comfortable seating and roomy tables. Two of us shared Grand Seafood Platter and all items were fresh, chilled perfectly, and flavourful. Server was knowledgeable and attentive without hovering. Finally found excellent fresh unbreaded seafood in Calgary at a moderate price. Will definitely return !

Date night and no other restaurant in the city really excited us, so we ended up at our favourite. Beautiful evening on the new patio (definitely our new go to in the summer) with truffle popcorn, cocktails, seafood platter, cavier, tartare, southwest prawns, and baked Alaska. Service was amazing!

For the price, I felt the appetizers while good were by no means exceptional. The ahi tuna was scant and the accompanying vinegarette/greens didn't have much depth in flavor. The beef dumplings lacked spice/flavor and weren't especially hot (temperature-wise) when they reached our table. The crab itself was good but swimming in butter. I like butter, but it was excessive and interfered a bit with my enjoyment of the delicate crab. Our two salads (especially the wedge) were fantastic. As well, our server was incredibly attentive.

Modern Ocean was perfect for celebrating our anniversary. They allowed us to order from the Steak menu and had a. very nice card on our table for our anniversary from the staff. They also, comped our dessert. We ordered the Mash Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and Garlic Mushrooms, all very complimentary with our dinner. We would highly recommend Modern Ocean/Modern Steak!

Our waitress was absolutely lovely. She was fairly busy and our main meal was not hot. The steak was at best cool. We appreciated the free dessert in celebration of my sons birthday.

Our meal was average, there wasn’t a large selection on the menu and prices were high. The scallops were sent back as we didn’t feel they were cooked properly, but they didn’t charge us for them. Decor, ambiance and service were great, but I don’t think I would return.

Food is great, no options on sides on the Ocean menu - very disappointing. Recommend the Steak menu, virtually the same but better options. Birthday card was a nice touch but no sparkler, like other tables, with our dessert. Our table for the Ocean side was not available even though I made a reservation. Seated in Steak side.

We celebrated my partner's birthday at Modern Steak and Seafood last night and have nothing but good things to say about the experience. The food, the service, the ambiance, the value...chef's kiss! We will definitely be going back for Wednesday's date night - what an incredible deal!! And we cannot wait to bring the whole family from the east coast to try out the seafood <3

Although the service was very good, the time it took to get our dinner seemed longer than it should have been for the amount of people in the restaurant. We also found that the value was not there, the prices seem higher than other restaurants with the same offerings. Overall we found the experience OK at best. There are other restaurants with the same or better ambiance with more reasonable prices.

Six of us went for dinner on a Saturday evening. The experience was fabulous for four of us; however, one of our guests were not as lucky. They have allergies and are well accustomed to going out and working with the location/service staff, but this place does not know how to deal with allergies. Twice they made an error with the allergy order. The advertised vegan mushroom risotto is NOT vegan. It got worse for our guests when the server mixed varieties of wine for this same guest who had already had the allergy issues. Not a good experience for them.

Great service and great food! We were not in a hurry to finish our meal and three weren’t in a hurry to rush us out. The food was delicious and server worked with us on the best “courses” based on our menu orders. Such an enjoyable evening. Food was fresh and from management to servers to food runners, all employees were outstanding. Will come again!

Tapas - Crab in jar was delicious, would skip the scallops and wagu dumplings. The Sable fish was amazing , no need for the curry sauce...it was cooked to perfection..yum! Celebrating a birthday so we had the cream brulee and it was the best I've had. Waitress was great, the atmosphere was lovely . Would definitely go back.

The contemporary design and atmosphere started the night off and the exceptional service made our birthday celebration worth the visit. The food was great with the fish and steak being some of the best we have tasted. The starters of Octopus and spicy prawns were very original and tasty. We felt the server went beyond what we expected. We immediately spoke of returning.
