Four key pieces separate us from a traditional steakhouse.

1) We only serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. That means we don’t serve beef from anywhere else on the planet. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put into produce our beef. We like our beef to be, hormone & antibiotic free and pasture raised. Happy cattle make for better steaks.

2) We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

3) We use an 1800o Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. Our grill stays at very consistent high heat versus a traditional open flame grill. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

4) Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palate for a steakhouse. We broke the mold and decided to add hand selected music that reflects us!

The best steak you will ever have. The range of options for finding the perfect cut of steak are exceptional. Our server was helpful in recommending a perfect meal for both of us. Each item from the cocktails to desert was perfectly prepared. The food quality justifies the price at Modern Steak.

Patrick was our server/bartender and was simply amazing. He was attentive and provided creative and delicious cocktails. Made sure food was delivered on time and provided excellent menu recommendations. The manager was also very attentive as our table wasn’t ready so he offered us a complementary cocktail while we waited on the patio. Overall, if you get Patrick as your server you’re in for an excellent experience. Thanks for making our 22 anniversary a memorable experience.

Cowboy ribeye thickness was too little for such a premium cut and place. Meat was quite overloaded with salt and especially pepper, it was hard to appreciate the true flavor.

Date Night at Modern Steak is great value. The steak and sides are excellent and the wine that accompanies is good. You cannot beat the value. But this most recent time, our server Dominik really made our evening. He explained the different cuts of steak and why one would choose each of them, and was attentive, efficient and kind throughout. I mentioned this to the manager, but having been to Modern Steak several times before, I want to say that Dominik elevated the experience for us 100%. Thanks!

Best Steak my husband and I ever had. The mashed potatoes and mushrooms were amazing. The lobster tails were underwhelming. The wagu dumplings were good. My husband loved the old fashions. Pat the bartender was very talented and friendly. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. The manager also stopped by to see how we were doing which we enjoyed. The food and drinks were brought out promptly. The establishment was clean and ambiance was perfect. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner very much.

This is our second time celebrating our anniversary with Modern Steak. This year we went to the Kensington location; our first visit to this location and I’m sure it won’t be our last. Since it was a special night for us I requested a table in a quiet area and they wowed us with a fabulous booth tucked away in a corner. The anniversary card is a wonderful touch of acknowledgment and the food, as always, was fantastic. Even when you order the promotion of the day they still ensure the meal is of impeccable quality. And my espresso martini was fantastic!

Best steak I have ever had! The Rib Eye was my absolute favourite, melts in your mouth, with the Wagu steak a close second (but others at our table loved it more! Soooo good. The Brussel sprouts are also to die for, as was the carpaccio ❤️

We tried the Sunday Supper Club Experience….it was a tasty and wonderful meal that was well presented and priced. Our first course, a wedge salad was fresh and flavourful. We ended with baked Alaska for dessert and it was very well presented and fantastic!! Our server was attentive and yet gave us space to enjoy our meal. It was a great evening out! Some observations related to location: -located in the lower level, stairs may be a challenge for someone managing mobility issues

First time going on the recommendation of a friend. We were lucky enough to sit out on the small patio at the back of the restaurant in the sun and there was no one else outside, so all to ourselves which was great. Servers and all staff were super friendly, authentic, and helpful. It was our anniversary and the hostess even made us a nice card and wished us a happy anniversary. Steaks were very tasty, very well cooked, and cut well before being cooked (I'm not a fan of huge hunks of gristle everywhere, and these were trimmed very well before cooking). Sides were excellent as well, the truffle fries and the brussell sprouts. Deserts were also excellent. All in, one of the nicest meals my wife and I have had in a very long time!

We really enjoyed our evening. The manager came to our table to make sure everything was to our expectations and our server was very good, friendly and attentive to our needs. We were celebrating a birthday, a card from the staff was presented as well as creme brûlée on the house. We have come to Modern Steak on several occasions and thoroughly enjoy our experience.
