Four key pieces separate us from a traditional steakhouse.

1) We only serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. That means we don’t serve beef from anywhere else on the planet. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put into produce our beef. We like our beef to be, hormone & antibiotic free and pasture raised. Happy cattle make for better steaks.

2) We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

3) We use an 1800o Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. Our grill stays at very consistent high heat versus a traditional open flame grill. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

4) Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palate for a steakhouse. We broke the mold and decided to add hand selected music that reflects us!

It was a nice place to try, the skirt steak was not the best cut of meat for $49 (quite over-priced for 6 oz and for that cut) and the steak knife you get to pick (colour) was dull which left me hacking into the meat. Yorkshire pudding was very good though. Strange to have cheese and meat in the centre though. Baked Alaska was nothing special though, only browned on a small side because the waiter couldn’t get his small lighter to work.

Very nice. Our waiter was very good. My wife had the halibut and it was fabulous. I had a 7 oz. filet. Ordered medium rare but it was medium. Still very good though. Will come again.

Best service with particular attention and valued input. Serve was polite, attentive for appropriate time to interject as to not interfere with discussion at table. Referered to sommelier for vin selection and appropriate pairing. We took shared plate for 4 and all 4 meats were perfectly prepared and cooked at the desired level. More than we could eat. The crème brûlée and baked Alaska are highly recommended

Service was good but the food was average at best. Steak (Tomahawk) was good but lacked a lot of flavour and tenderness that it was promoted to have. For side dishes, the brussel sprouts were delicious but the roasted potatoes were too bland. While I enjoyed adding my own salt to taste, it would've been nice if the base product of the steak was higher quality considering the price. Overall not bad, but other steakhouses like Chairman's are much better :)

Modern Steak is ALWAYS an outstanding experience. Their menu has a little something for everyone (yes including those who don't eat steak and even vegetarian/vegan option). This is not your average stuffy oldschool steak house experience, it's modern, and every detail/moment is well thought out. The warm crab dip was unreal, the octopus was cooked to perfection and the steaks were seasoned to perfection- there is a salt tasting brought out which is excellent but I don't feel you'll need to add anything to these already brilliant cuts. The wine menu is well thought out, the cocktails are exceptional (and yes even the non-alcoholic ones are worth it!) and of course, the service was exceptional, as always. The staff from the moment you walk in are welcoming and kind, every server that comes to the table is knowledgable, friendly, kind, and cares about your experience. Always look forward to dining, and can't wait to go back :)

Cass was our server and I can’t say enough good about her. She was super knowledgeable, attentive and personable. We are coming back in a couple of weeks for a group event and I’ve requested her as our server. Great atmosphere and vibes. Will definitely go back!

This is the YYC Food and Drink Experience Rancher’s Dinner. You usually expect the best…and indeed they delivered. We had a WOW evening. Over top quality of beef. We had the best beef ever from the 3 courses: carpaccio, short ribs and prime rib. So good to be in Calgary this time for the event!
