Four key pieces separate us from a traditional steakhouse.

1) We only serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. That means we don’t serve beef from anywhere else on the planet. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put into produce our beef. We like our beef to be, hormone & antibiotic free and pasture raised. Happy cattle make for better steaks.

2) We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

3) We use an 1800o Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. Our grill stays at very consistent high heat versus a traditional open flame grill. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

4) Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palate for a steakhouse. We broke the mold and decided to add hand selected music that reflects us!

The evening was great, food/drink were excellent. Was the first to have the Grass fed/finished rib-eye. Delicious and flavorful. Will be back in the future.

The best steakhouse:) i love there wagyu dumplings and signature warm crab in a jar 😋the best! And of course our main course which is the striploin and grassfed ribeye, it was perfectly cooked ( medium rare ) Will be back soon for sure !

The setting is really comfortable and the staff are great. The sides were delicious, but my steak was really dry and flavourless. That was disappointing. Now my husband loved his bone in ribeye so perhaps the filet wasn’t the best cut for me, and perhaps medium-well was too much for the delicate meat. Given how tasty everything else was, perhaps I was just unlucky.

Always a good time here! Our server Ashley was incredibly attentive, engaging and made sure my wine glass was always full! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. We will definitely be dining here again!

We ended up sending our share plate steak back as majority of it was fat and not edible, and they quickly resolved the issue by bringing out a new steak, which was lovely. A little disappointed that the $124 steak wasn’t removed from the bill, which we didn’t eat much of. But thanks for the free bday dessert! Been to Modern Steak numerous times for all of our anniversaries and birthdays, but was a little underwhelmed this time!

Had the A5 Olive-fed Wagyu Ribeye and our minds were blown. The story and quality alongside the perfect cook made it something to remember. Amazing beef selection, room and service. Will return and tell friends.

This is our fourth time going to modern steak, the first at the Stephen avenue location. Our meal was great and our server was fantastic offering wonderful suggestions that paired with the meal very well. Like past visits, there were a few minor issues with our meal. Our food took longer than anticipated to come out from the kitchen due to being behind a larger party that our server kept us in the loop about. When our food did arrive, the steak we ordered was cold. Our server took our steak back to be heated up, and when it was brought back, also brought two complimentary sauces to accompany it. Because it was my wife’s birthday, as well as the issues with our meal, our server offered us two complimentary desserts and had recommendations for us for that as well. Bjørn was a wonderful server, and made sure that every issue and challenge we had was dealt with swiftly. What we love most about Modern Steak is that they always go above and beyond to ensure that we are taken care of.

The tomahawk steak was next level!! The service was amazing. The sides were bland and the ambiance and decor were average at best. Expected more of the overall experience for the price tag.

Great service and delicious food! We had the wagyu trio taster, the oysters, steak tartar, dumplings and lobster tail. The wine that was paired with our food was also amazing. Will definitely be going back.

We went there for lunch and the staff and food where both excellent. The restaurant is really nice looking and the food selection was great. I tried a new drink coconut something and it was really good. I highly recommend this as a must do to!!

Overall experience was great, but I found the server to be a bit too pushy. Don't get me wrong, attentive service is way better than non-attentive. But she seemed to interrupt my business conversation multiple times to see if we were ok. Which was a bit of an annoyance.

Excellent location and a most enjoyable evening meal. The wine selection was modest, but all the selections were top quality. The not steak meal choices were limited to two fish selections, but it is a steak house. The steak selection was fantastic, the sides were plentiful and very tasty. The service was top notch, I knocked over a wine glass and the clean up was discrete and instant. We will definitely be going back again.

We celebrate our wedding anniversary and We had a great time. Absolutely delicious food, in a fine dining setting. The service was exceptional, with the server Cassy taking time to explain the menu. The best beef we had in a long time.

For the Tenderloin steak I do wish they would have asked us how it wanted to be cooked. As I wasn't able to eat my steak. But the over all experience was amazing and the mashed potatoes and ceaser salad was delicious

Had the benchmark ribeye and my guest had the benchmark filet. Possibly the two best steak I’ve ate at Modern. Excellent lunch spot for a business meeting busy but not crazy volume levels. Recommend!

Great service. Good recommendation for my cocktail. Incredible choix of steak. Enjoyed my meal. Had the truffle fries to eat with my succulent steak. Wonderful desert I recommend the tropical savarin. Will recommend and return to this restaurant. Great ambiance

Always such a wonderful experience. The decor and the food are fabulous. We had a problem with one of our dishes, and they took it and our side off the bill and brought two more right away!. Very professional! appreciate the staff very much!

The sides have changed so much they are not worth the money anymore. The Brussel sprouts were burnt and the mashed potatoes were extremely salty. Steak was not cooked to the temp we requested. The Caesars were sweet and horrible. Sent them back 2x. Before covid we looked forward to having a splurge night out at modern. But its gone drastically down hill. It's not even worth it any more. It's just sucks that it's one of the few places in town with halal steak.
