Have been to modern steak multiple times with great experiences. After last visit, will not be coming back. Ordered warm crab in a jar, Wagyu dumplings, halibut, and tomahawk for 2. Food quality is no longer up to par. Crab was too salty and even though it was in butter felt dry. Wagyu dumplings were okay. We had asked for the halibut to be done medium rare but it was done medium-medium well. Tomahawk for two was the biggest disappointment. Used to come sizzling hot on a hot skillet. Was told by staff that they are not doing this anymore. This was the best part about ordering this steak. Instead it came out quite cold (rare when I had asked for medium rare) on a plate. Sides were all good. For a $350 meal, it is simply not worth it. Will attempt to find a new steakhouse.

We had an unforgettable experience here for our anniversary. The food was all cooked perfectly and every dish complimented each other so well. The service from our waiter, Petar, was top notch. He was perfectly attentive, gave great recommendations, and was very professional. Really an unbelievable experience and we will definitely be back!

We were disappointed be seated in the lounge level when we arrived instead of the second floor dining room. The lights in the room kept dimming and brightening on their own and the table beside us noticed as well and complained. The wait staff were overwhelmed and the service wasn’t great. Given how many great steak houses are in Calgary and our experience we will not choose Modern.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Modern Steak. Our waitress was amazing! So friendly and knowledgeable and always ensured we had what we needed. We ordered 2 steaks and split a couple sides. We were fortunate enough to get a table with a view of the Calgary Tower. We can’t wait to go back again.

Food is way overprriced and portions too small. 60 dollars for a 7 ounce steak with no sides included is ridiculous. And each side is 14 dollars. Not again. Keg is less expensive and tastes better and portions bigger

Arron, We seem to have a miscommunication. All steaks include a complimentary side and large format steaks include several. Now comparing the Keg to what we do is unfortunate. We serve Prime grade ranch Specific Alberta beef, the keg simply does not. So yes there is a price and quality difference. Thanks for posting

Don’t order their Fish dishes. They need better chef for that. Not sure, why they are making soups for salmon and other dishes. They should either remove those from menu or get property made like Hy’s. Dessert and stake are good.

Mixed experience. Food was “ok” but would expect more for the price. Steaks good but ordered a combination plate for three and it cooked quite differently so we had med rare to well done steak. There was a conference/gathering taking up the entire open area so not great for our business dinner.

Our steaks were over cooked and we only had 1 server for a table of 10. She did her best, but didn’t have enough support. The manager only came out to help her once we had to send food back because it was over cooked from sitting under a heat lamp. Overall a pretty disappointing experience, especially for the size of the bill.
