Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palette for a steakhouse. We broke the mould and decided to add hand-selected music that reflects us! We’re more like Jay Z and less like Sinatra.

We only serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. That means we don’t serve beef from anywhere else on the planet. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put in to produce our beef.

We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

We use a 1800 degree Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on the outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

Cowboy shrimp and peppers were decent portion but sauce was very bland, had no character. Had the A5 17 oz, 328 buck steak and was very good in taste, tenderness and cooked perfectly. Sadly a 328 dollar steak didn’t come with any sauces, as was the case in all previous visits and before the menu change. The other sides were decent. The menu is still complex and a bit confusing, way too much going on with this, as is with the two different menus and different parts to the restaurant , I have been here five time now over 1-1/2 years and I think I am at the end of my patronage. 3 of us had a 588 buck tab with only 4 beers and 1 drink. This is not cheap at all, so service and food quality should be extremely high for the buck. I have to earn 800 bucks to pay out 588 after taxes for a dinner. One of us had a salad only and two shared the A5 17 ounce. Lastly we didn’t have a waiter assigned to us and after 20 minutes we went looking for one the we were assigned the bartender, this person was very unfamiliar with the menu and was busy with his other job mixing drinks, service was very slow and poor. In the end Taylor came to our rescue and provided some great service

Absolutely amazing experience! It was my partners birthday AND his first time at Modern Steak. He loves everything about the experience and the atmosphere and the food. Most of all, the service right from when we walked in to when we sat and ate to when we left was outstanding. Thank you for making it a truly wonderful experience!

The Wed Date Night special was a great deal. And our server Todd was very friendly and patient. The menu is intimidating at first glance but he really helped us through it. Never had a baked Aladka like their's before. Let's leave it at "interesting" Well be back next month for sure.

We visited Modern Stake for a date night and it was amazing as usual. Our server was Andy and he was truly exceptional, he is super knowledgeable about everything from the food to the wine, is super attentive and has a wonderful sense of humor. The steak was delicious and the desert delectable. I would definitely recommend.

10/10. This was our first time at Modern Steak on Southport Road. We enjoyed everything, from ambience, service to food. It was absolutely FANTASTIC. The quality of food and ingredients were outstanding. The only complain would be the booth we were seated in, as it was only 3 of us and it was quite big and U shaped, so the person sitting in the middle had to turn their had back and forth while talking, but that was minor and maybe next time we will ask for a smaller booth. Not a big deal. Loved, loved, loved everything and we'll be back soon.

We were celebrating a 60th anniversary and I can’t say enough about the special treatment we received. All of the staff went above and beyond to make this dinner celebration special and we thank the manager (sorry I don’t have his name handy) for his extra special attention to our reservation. AND on top of the exceptional service, our dinner was amazing!

This was our first dinner visit and from the moment we came until we left the service was awesome and food was delicious! When the reservation was made we noted that it was a 35 wedding anniversary for a family member. The establishment surprised us with dessert for all (group of 4) which was unexpected but a very classy gesture! Our visit exceeded our expectations and we will be back and thank our server Taylor(sp?) for being so attentive, informative, thoughtful and on point for our entire dinner experience!! 💯 Thank you so much and and highly recommend anyone to visit - you won’t be disappointed👍🏻💝

My wife and I decided to give this restaurant a try and this was our first outing together alone in 6+ months. Needless to say we were beyond disappointed with the quality of food (seasoning. Have you heard of it?) mashed potatoes were less quality that powdered mash. Steaks were tender but bland as all hell. Lobster? $30+ for a tail that was the size of a jumbo prawn. You gotta be kidding me. Only saving grace was the delicious cocktails and desert. We will be going to chairman’s from now on.

The service was top shelf and our meals were amazing. Can recommend the steak tartare, tuna tartare, surf & turf with either giant prawns or lobster tail, wagyu dumplings. And for dessert the sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee were delicious and the perfect size.
