Moroccan
Moltaqa is translated as a place where people meet and enjoy the whole experience.

Healthy and flavourful, halal Moroccan cuisine, full of aromatic spices. Vegan and gluten free options. We offer BC and international wines, beers on tap, cocktails. Freshly squeezed juices, Kombucha on tap, Moroccan Tea, Turkish coffee, homemade lemonade.

Moroccan cuisine is a delicious combination of mouthwatering flavors that make it unique. Moroccan food is incredibly diverse, thanks to the country's interaction with other cultures and nations over the centuries. Influenced by Berbers, Arabs, Andalusian, Mediterranean and especially French.

We use traditional Moroccan Tagines for cooking, where the convection produced by the design of the pot cooks everything perfectly. The dish is naturally and continuously basted - ingredients are moist and the meat buttery.

No Fat, No Oils. All our meat is halal and hormone- and antibiotic-free. We have lots of vegan and pescatarian options. Dance shows.

Great meal, service and ambiance. We will definitely come again. Staff are very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. A lot of restaurants in Vancouver should take a page out of Moltaqa's playbook.

Wow! What more can I say about this place. From the moment that my party and I walked in Mimo and his team took care of us. The hospitality that his team and him showed us made us feel like we were in his house. The food was amazing and BC wines too! Our group was 12 people and he served us family style and not one person left hungry. The stories about the dish, the attention to detail they put in preparing and cooking, the spices the use, the music was energetic, and to top it off Mimo cooked it all! This place lives up to the Moroccan name. I would highly recommend this place and take the time to get to know the team as they all know what they are doing! They even have a live belly dancer on Thurs - Sat.

The food was good, not great. We felt that the tagine could be a bit more flavourful. The eggplant appetizer was tasty but it was too cold...felt like it had been stored in the refrigerator. It would taste much better at room temp. Our waitress was lovely but there was a mix up with our food order and one of our group didn't get served until 25 minutes after the rest of us. I think perhaps they need additional staff.

We were there for New Years dinner. It was not the best time to try a new restaurant. They did not have a full house but previous diners had not left and we had to stand and wait at the door for about one half hour. They gave us a free drink while we waited. There was a few seats at the bar that were not offered. Our waitress was lovely but inexperienced. We gave her a decent tip anyway. The food was nothing special. The starter was a salad, followed by another salad and then a small lamb sausage on an unknown vegetable. The main was in our case a lamp shank. I did not eat this and went straight to dessert. The desserts were fine. We left immediately after because we did not want to get caught in traffic with other drivers who may have been drinking. The entertainer was a very good belly dancer who gave the diners a chance to dance with her. She was a winner.

The food was good and varied with lots of different flavours. My only negative comment would be that I found several of the dishes to be overly salty. The host was great, took good care of us. I would recommend the restaurant to friends.

We had a group of 18 people, my entire family and friends enjoyed there experience. The food was delicious and the presentation was great.
We tried the Lamb shank, several different types of fish, chicken, and the vegetarian Tagine, everyone enjoyed the taste of their meal.
Thank you

Excellent, fresh ingredients, prepared with great spices for real Moroccan flavors. This is one of out favorite restaurants and we dine here whenever we are back in town and, as always, Mimo was a gracious host. Bellydance performance by Lana added to the authentic experience. We really like the lentil stew and the tajine dishes, which is a closed pot that allows the flavors to to simmer slowly and fully develop. On this occasion we had the fresh fish and the vegetable tajines, both excellent. On previous visits we had the chicken and lamb tajines and these were also excellent.

Most agreed that the cost for the amount of food we got was too high. Otherwise, the quality was okay. The waitress was attentive and the ambience was very good.

We were well taken care of during our first visit to Moltaqa. My party of 6 was in town for a conference, and we loved the ambiance. Two staff checked in with us regularly and kept our glasses full, and we were shocked by the amount of food we had between 2 appetizers and 3 tagines. We all left full and happy, and appreciated the service and value we experienced.

Great experience the food was top notch and the owner came over and made conversation. Nice setting, decor and ambiance. They were very busy and a little short staffed (Owner’s words) so our last 45 minutes of the experience, left us a little disappointed. Once we got our mains, the server came by once and then we never saw anybody for 45 min. We certainly would’ve had a special coffee and desert. Overall the food was great and we will come back and dine.

Always love the food at Moltaqa and the owner is a very nice affable guy. However, the place is packed on weekends, so the noise level was very high. Restaurant was well staffed, but all the servers looked a bit frazzled by the crowds. Service was good though. Younger crowds taking pictures of the food to post them online. So if you like lot's of people and lot's of energy, it is perfect. For someone like myself who is a bit crowd averse, I'll stay away from Moltaqa on the weekends and leave it for the 20 somethings who were packed in this hopping venue!

The staff at Moltaqa aim to please. The service was great, food fabulous and it is a beautiful room. We were giving small tastings of the beef sirloin just prepared and it melted in your mouth. My lamb tangine was delightful!

Rustic food and simple presentation. Tried the special and other dishes and found the pot contains the same vegetables. It would be nice if there was a better variety within the dishes.

We went for lunch on a Sunday so it was relatively quiet. The food was great, service was a tad slow, however our server was friendly, professional, and offered us great suggestions. The decor is quite nice, it was still cozy even though it could have been awkwardly empty.
We shared three starters, stuffed aubergines (really good), a salad (super fresh and tasty!), and a stew (also great). We all ordered the same main, which was the lamb with figs tagine, it did not disappoint!
Looking forward to coming back on a Friday or Saturday evening to experience the belly dancing and potentially a whole different vibe !

We visited Moltaqa Moroccan Restaurant and were very disappointed. The Service was so bad that it took away from the rest of our experience. Though the food also certainly could have been better. Our Server was under the impression that he was a comedian...and he was not only not funny, but he was fouled mouthed, loud and obnoxious, and not only to our table, but in looking around, you could see other patrons were feeling the same way. His really poor service took away from the ambiance and certainly from our overall experience...moreover he got our order wrong. The food itself was mediocre. While the tagine dish was alright, our pastilla was soggy and tasteless. And what Moroccan restaurant doesn’t have olives? Have you never been to Morocco, it’s a staple at every restaurant. I don’t recommend this restaurant, the service alone really took away from the evening, he tried to make the whole evening about himself, with a very table. Just completely loud, obnoxious and oblivious to fact that people weren’t interested in his rude and unfunny approach. He must have been the owner, it’s the only way someone like that would still be employed at such a restaurant. Either way, really disappointed experience and certainly won’t be recommending it.

This is a wonderfully authentic place. The decor and the aroma draw you in. We were there early on a Wednesday night and there wasn’t much of a crowd. The restaurant manager/owner is a very soft-spoken delightful young man who provided interesting details on how the food was prepared and served. We had the eggplant and dal appetizers and the lamb tajine for the entree. Everything was incredibly flavorful. We had the Moroccan cookies and mint tea to finish things up. I highly recommend this great little place.

The service is friendly and the food is delicious. We ordered the couscous and a couple of appetizers. The interior design is also very special and nice. You really feel like you’re in Morocco. The only thing that could be improved is the service. It’s a little bit chaotic sometimes, for example, we were helped by many different waiters. On the other hand, they’re very friendly, so it’s easy to forget about this.

Our friends and us enjoyed this Moroccan experience very much. We are foodies & so we enjoy trying new cuisines. The food was very tasty & the Moroccan style of serving plates were unique. The only disappointment was their bread. I was expecting Moroccan bread with the meal not regular crusty buns, overall excellent! The belly dancer was superb!!! Definitely will come back, the server was sweet. 👍🏻😊
