   Decided to visit Monk10 prior to the Jimmy Carr show and planned to arrive early. Glad that we did as we ended our meal with only 25mins to go before the show started. While we were rushed, the restaurant filled up quickly and the wait staff were certainly rushing around to try to get the tables served. The meal itself was great - fantastic taste, amazing drinks and overall another great visit.

   Initial servers was ok. We were a party of 4 and each ordered burgers. Three were medium rare and 1 was ordered well done. When the first two plates came to the table we asked the doneness and the server said “I don’t know, I didn’t take your order”. Odd thing to say. At the end, all the burgers were cooked similarly, and my grandmother not wanting to cause a fuss ate around her burger.

   Our server was good & tried her best but the kitchen was too slow! We sat at 6:00, placed our food order 6:30, got our food 7:40, ate far too quickly to get to the Kevin Hart concert for 8:00!!! Terrible!!!!! Food was just ok. It was a complete waste of time & money. We had to gulp down our food in 10 mins!

   We took part in the Valentines day special ($80 per person) to celebrate both Vday and our wedding anniversary. This was noted in the reservation but not acknowledged or mentioned by the staff. The ceviche amuse bouche and caeser salad appetizer came quickly and were both good. I ordered the seared tuna for my entrée and my husband took the beef tenderloin cooked rare. We waited quite a while for our mains. His steak arrived with a medium cook and my tuna was cooked solid through, a similar consistency to canned tuna. The steak went back and they replaced it with one that was rare. I had pushed my tuna away at this point and our waitress asked how it was. I told her it was not good and asked if it wasn't supposed to be raw in the middle (which is what seared tuna usually is), maybe my fault for not confirming when I ordered. She asked me if I was going to eat it and I said no (cause it was terrible) and she took it away to find out how it should have been cooked. She came back, announced that her manager said to give me 50% off, and that it should have been cooked medium (which it wasn't). No replacement meal, no properly cooked tuna. I should have said something more at this point cause I now found myself without dinner, but I didn't. I had a couple bites of my husbands steak. Dessert came, it was fine. So all in all, it was a disappointing experience. I do not foresee us going back in the future.

   I was suprised bu the qualitycof the foods. Not many people are talking about the restaurant. Wonder why? Good value. The aestetics is lacking, looks like a breakfast nook and not a nice dinner look.

    We were seated at our table and sat there for 20 minutes before a server came to talk to us. They said they would bring water but forgot. Then we waited another 10 minutes for our drinks and 40 minutes for the food. They seemed understaffed and it was very busy when we arrived so hopefully the service issue was due to poor timing. The food was great once we got it.

    The dinning room was completely empty. Turns out the hotel only had maybe 3 rooms booked which made our experience quite peaceful! Food tasted great and the service was fantastic! Meal was nicely spaced out between courses which made it a no rush feeling!

    We were told by several staff members that we were at the wrong table even though they seated us when we arrived. Waitresses kept walking right by us. We had to stop one and ask to be served. Most people that came in after us were served and left well before we did. But food and drinks were good!

    The atmosphere is more like a cafeteria, than fine dining. The food was excellent & our server was very professional, but the other wait staff were not. A dress code should certainly be put in place.

    Great food, great staff. There was a particularly large group there for our entire meal that was extremely loud. I don't hold this against the hotel/restaurant but they ruined the ambience a bit. The restaurant is open concept so sound carries a lot.

    Great menu and good location next to the Avenir Center. Both occasions we were at Monk 10 was prior to a concert at Avenir and the restaurant was very busy. Service was extremely slow and staff seemed overwhelmed. Ordered burgers and waited over an hour for the food and were almost late for the show. Definitely would not go there on show night. Probably a reasonable place to dine on other occasions.

    We have now been at Monk10 4 times. Every time we have been there the restaurant has been what appears to be understaffed. We have been there with 2 people, 4 people and 6 people so it didn't matter the number of people in the party- we are always there for 3 hours minimum. We keep going back because 2 of my adult children and my husband have offices downtown .We want to support the restaurant. But last night service was the worst its been .The waiter clearly had no idea what he was doing. I understand if he was new but there did not appear to be anyone around to help him.The restaurant was also not busy at all and still we waited about 30 minutes for a drink and even longer to place our order for food. Each time we wanted to either order a drink or food we had to go find someone inside as we were on the patio. Our reservation was for 5:30 and we did not get out of there until 9pm. We didn't end up having coffee or dessert. We had family here from Halifax and we were hoping for a much better experience. I would really have to consider ever going back.

    My friend from out of town and I met up here for lunch. We split the charcuterie board and had some drinks. it was fantastic!!! Servings were very generous and more than enough for us both! Everything paired very well! If you’re unsure what to pick and like to try a bit of everything I definitely recommend it! Service was great. Not gonna lie, I can be a bit picky sometimes and have very specific questions, but our server was Very friendly, knew the answers to all my questions and made awesome drink recommendations! We’re already looking forward to coming here the next time my friend is in town!

    The atmosphere is amazing! I ordered the Pork Piccata with the lemon couscous. The pork was juicy seasoned and cooked perfectly. Came topped with a delicious lemon butter sauce. The couscous was light and fluffy. Beautiful plating. It was the perfect cozy place for a meet and greet. It was my first visit but I will be back for sure.

    First impression : looks good, but smells like a swimming pool. When making a reservation, you can select the occasion (none, anniversary, birthday, special occasion...). You would expect that a special occasion would be seated in a special area, but I was next to a table full of kids running around the place. The place wasn't full and it was so loud we could hear everything going on at every table. The food was good, but not WOW-good. The server was nice, but seemed a bit confused and didn't know the menu very well.

    The food is awesome! We got the Smokehouse burger and I would definitely recommend it. I loved everything about it. The gravy for the fries was spectacular. I will definitely be going again.

    We went for Mother's Day. The photos online gave the impression of an atmospheric place for a casual slightly upscale dining experience. As we open the door we were "greeted" by a server who ran away from us as we were letting in the "too cold" air from outside. Then met with the faint smell of chlorine and the sound of happily screaming kids as they raced through the hotel lobby back and forth to the pool. The restaurant must serve as the location that the hotel serves breakfast to its guests each morning. The breakfast chaffing dish set up is in evidence. Although we had a reservation and the place was deserted we were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant rather than a cozier booth. The table was the breakfast buffet style and was wobbly to the point that we had to keep our feet on the stand to keep our drinks for sloshing out it moved. Now our server did fix this about half way through our meal once we asked her so that helped a lot. Our appetizer was given away to another table but that was okay. When it did arrive, what was tantalizingly described in the menu as croquettes were merely large rounds of potatoes rolled in breadcrumbs. Not worth filling up on as we hoped the burgers were going to be great. The server took our order (3 different burgers, I with fries and 2 with the delicious Monk10 salad). She did not write it down, so we had to keep correcting her as she said it back. Needless to say it was not right when it arrived. We eventually switched things up to put together a semblance of what we had ordered. Wrong cheese on wrong burger, wrong sides with wrong burgers, wrong toppings, etc.. The meat was well prepared, the buns were really good. The Monk10 salad was really really good. We asked about the specialty cakes. As it was Mother's day, we figured it might be something decadent. They were out. They only make so many for the week and they were out, on Mother's Day at 5:45pm? Not eager to try again.

    Not what we expected, this is the same room the Hilton is serving breakfast in, you can see the cereal bins on the wall, no ambiance at all, kids from the hotel guests are running around. Food is average. I guess it’s ok if you are staying at the hotel and don’t want to get out but this is not a fancy restaurant for a hot date.

    The burger and the pasta were excellent, and the musician (singer/guitarist) was really good. Unfortunately, there are a few issues you will want to be aware of. The online and phone reservation system are not user-friendly. The restaurant is located off the main Hilton hotel lobby and strongly smells of chlorine from the pool. It is difficult to have a conversation due to the loud acoustics. It’s much better outside on the patio. Nice variety of local craft beers, extremely good food, carefully prepared.

    We have to give a lower score for food because we did not know that dinner menu was not available at 3:30. And several of the lunch menu items were not available. Kitchen was closed from 4 to 5. That would have been helpful info to know when booking a table. Food items we did receive were very good however.

    Our server was new but she did a great job! She brought our drinks promptly, explained the specials/menu well, told us what wasn't available right off so we wouldn't get our hearts set on something. I thought it would be loud in there since it's so open, but it wasn't. After leaving for a change of venue, we wished we hadn't left. The other places we tried afterwards had extremely loud music which made it hard to have a conversation. The lemon drop was my favourite cocktail. Although the charcuterie didn't have the jerky available that night, it was still really good and just what we wanted for 3 ladies catching up on the last few months of pandemic time. The restaurant itself seems very open ... open to the lobby etc. It was kind of funny seeing kids runs through on their way to the pool or back to their rooms, while we ladies were out for grown-up drinks. But they didn't bother anyone and weren't noisy. We really enjoyed ourselves.
