Usually we enjoy dining here but this time we had a horrible experience. Originally we were given a larger table but once we arrived she seated us at a much smaller table. 3 Adults 1 child as per my reservation.
When our main courses arrived the waiter even apologized for the "ridiculously small table" we were given. He had great difficult trying to fit our courses on the small table. We had ordered 2 appetizers, a soup, 4 main dishes, and a Peking duck. Two other waiters came by during the course of our meal to help us move food to smaller dishes. But because they kept having to clear our table and move our food everything became cold very quickly. We felt rushed and didn't enjoy the meal at all.
By the time the Peking duck came our waiter couldn't find a spot to put the sauce dishes. I had to place one sauce dish on our teapot and stack up our 4 hand towel plates even before getting to use them. It was very embarrassing as it wasn't a simply family dinner we had a guest. I have never dined so uncomfortably before at a restaurant that prides itself on service, food quality, and the dining experience.
This was absolutely unacceptable considering the price you pay to dine there.
The waiters that served us did as much as they could to help make the situation more bearable. However, it was really unprofessional and extremely poor judgement on the part of the waitress at the front who decided we would fit in that small table.
I would understand if we had done a walk in and they had limited space but my reservation was booked 1 week in advanced. The table was already set up for us (I know because they had already placed the high chair as per my request at the table in which they had to move when they told is to seat elsewhere). I don't understand what inclined her to move us in the first place. What the biggest kicker was she ended up seating a party of 3 at our original table 30mins later.
My wife and I first discovered Mott 32 on a trip to Hong Kong when we were researching Hong Kong' best dim sum restaurants. We loved the experience so much that we went back for a second time in a short four day visit.
The Vancouver restaurant echos the style, charm and quality of dining experience of it's Hong Kong sibling.
In my view, the dim sum is phenomenal. A five course meal for two people cost over $100 but was well worth it.
If you are looking for an elegant, classy and enchanting food experience, check them out. You can enter off of Georgia Street if you don't wish to enter the hotel.
Had a great customer service experience, from the Sommelier, Mark to our server, Bobby. The food was outstanding, very fresh, wonderfully plated. We preordered the Peking Duck which was also very good. We shared all the dishes, including two desserts. I would definitely recommend this place for the food and service. The ambiance and decor was classy and there was a great selection of cocktails, teas and wines.
A group of us came here on a Saturday for lunch. Liked the atmosphere, it was quiet and relaxing, with unique decors. The menu selection was quite limited for dimsum as compared to other Chinese restaurants and expensive.
Food quality was good, but presentation was less than expected. Great service and ambience.
Good food though pricey
There needs to be more vegetarian options (i.e. no fish broth infusing the veggies etc)
Stunning food, stunning service, we could not have asked for a better afternoon!
Very nice place.
This is probably our favorite spot in Vancouver. The food's amazing, the service is very individual- approached and every time we come here we feel like we came to our friends' house! Thank you very much Mott 32 stuff team!
The service was excellent and our server suggested a number of options which were really helpful. The Peking Duck ‘s crispy skin and juicy meat was perfect. All in all we had a very good meal
Great duck but uneven service and high prices.
First, let me be clear that I am a white girl from Colorado. My exposure to Chinese food is pretty limited but, I was hoping to expand my range at Mott 32. We were not quite certain how to order and our waiter Bobby, while extremely friendly, kept pointing us to “familiar” tastes. His suggestions were okay, but we were still unclear about how to order - how much? In what order should the dishes be ordered? Etc.
FOOD: We started with the Pork Belly Salad Rolls, which were almost really good but lacked a level of flavor. Next we had the Double Boiled Sea Conch, Silky Fowl and Matsutake Mushroom Soup and found it to be warming, but just okay. For our main (?) course we had the King Prawns with Crispy Rice Cake and the Free Range Chicken, Dried Chillies, Szechuan Red Peppercorns. The prawns and rice cakes were delicious but the chicken was boring. Dessert was the Bamboo Green Forest and the Mango, coconut, glutinous rice roll. Both desserts were good but not mind blowing. The food was good, but far from inspiring.
SERVICE: Our waiter Bobby was friendly and made decent suggestions. We should have been more clear when asking for his advice. We were seated on the outer edge of this circular restaurant and I think this detracted from our experience. Had we been in the middle we might have felt more of the energy from the kitchen. We were in a weird space. Half way through our dinner a manager asked us to move over a table because there was a large party coming in. I don’t think I’ve ever been asked to move tables by a restaurant manager. Weird.
This was just an okay eating experience. Perhaps if I knew more about Chinese cuisine I could have ordered more wisely. However, at a nice restaurant you shouldn’t have to move tables halfway through your meal.
I don’t think I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.
Nice environment and service is excellent. The tea was very disappointing as they used tea bags. In Chinese restaurants, you NEVER use tea bags - we were extremely surprised that such a high end place would use them. Food was good, but not traditional Chinese cuisine - more fusion, but was very tasty!
We had a wonderful experience for celebrating Chinese New Year yesterday. The service and food are exquisite. 👌
We had a nice evening there, a little bit pricey but I guess it’s worth it.
Valentines day. Service was a lot more rushed than the usual non-busier days. We kept getting asked if our food was done but there was still stuff left in the plate. The waitress even forgot if she gave us a “course” yet or not.
Had a 9 pm reservation but did not get seated until 9:50!! Because it was Valentine's Day, they had a set menu for about 130$ per person (around 220$ with wine pairing). I had high expectations as I have dined here over 8 times before and had overall good experiences every time, but the food came out only minutes apart as if they were trying to get rid of us as soon as possible. Portions were also EXTREMELY small for what we were paying as I know the regular menu very well. They comped us a free glass of champagne but was that really worth the 50'minute wait on top of our reservation? All I can say it was the quickest 390$ I've ever spent on a meal.
no not good ！
Our service seems very busy, can’t find her, wait to 10 mins to find ppl to place order, sever only fill up water for us once, and the rest time we need to call the server. Device is not comparble than it was first open.
Environment is Good for chill with friends.
I would say this place is better for groups, not a great date place. It was busy with groups and not the greatest setting for romance. Service was okay although our waitress kept confusing us as each time we asked about a couple of dishes she would offer to bring us pieces of each but we weren't sure if she was trying to upsell to us or whether the price would be reasonable to do this. For this reason I would suggest they have a tasting menu for 2 with some options or something.
Also my boyfriend found plastic in his steamed dumpling when he bit into it, which we then told our waitress. She was reasonable about it in that she offered to give us another dish instead to replace it; however, she did not take the dumplings off the bill. We didn't put up a fuss at the time and in retrospect we should have asked as we just assumed it would be taken off given he could have easily choked on it.
The food that we ate was decent aside from the plastic but we likely won't be back again as that kind of ruined our experience a bit.
Food was delicious and flavorful. Cocktails were unique and yummy. They have vintage grade teas and great wine list. Chic ambience and comfortable seating. Service was fantastic. Everyone were friendly with tons of welcoming smiles.
The server only communicated with the youngest guest in the party. The other guests especially the paying one was totally ignored.
Spoke to manager about issue.
i am so so disappoint to this restaurant. the food is soso.and i think because they r so busy .the waitess dont have time to serve us. its really bad experience. i do not recommend here
Very good service and decor. Not cheap, but quality is quite good. Great for special occasions and safe for more Chinese traditional taste buds. Solid cocktails too (~$16-19)
The waiter mixed two different food into one box for pack up, and it tastes like S. This is such thing I couldn't accept.
Came to Vancouver to celebrate my SO’s birthday, and he just HAD to try Mott 32. At first I was hesitant to step foot inside the hotel because, you know. BUT our experience was totally worth it! Our bartender, Benji, our server, Helena, the somms, Mark and Robert were beyond amazing! We’d definitely come back if given the time!
Beautiful place, very nice decor. Food was delicious but a few items really overpriced! Can get a Peking duck and bbq pork with the same quality fraction of the price at almost any Chinese restaurant. That said the majority of the food was excellent, great flavours and beautiful presentation.
Exquisite service and fabulous service from gracious and attentive staff.
If I could describe this dining experience in one word, it would be WOW. We decided to do Mott 32 on our last night in Vancouver based upon a recommendation from our friend. We preordered a duck and iberico chashu pork (so worth it) and ordered the wagyu beef cheek per the recommendation of the bartender in the hotel lobby. Not only was the service impeccable but it was one of the top 3 dining experiences I have ever had. We ordered 4 desserts and I must say, they were all worth it. My boyfriend loved the mango soup (per the recommendation of what I am assuming to be a manager) and I killed the panna cotta, soy sauce ice cream and chocolate dessert. We probably ordered enough for 4 people but had some food left over for a late night snack. This was one of the greatest dining experiences we have had and loved this restaurant. We highly recommend it and are so glad we chose this place to be the way to end our trip.
So dark inside
Service is good
Food is hit or average
Perking Duck is average but chef has amazing cutting skills
The rice soup is really good
Other food are average
An unforgettable dining experience! Robert and Vivian went the extra mile to ensure our experience was first class.
good service and fresh dessert🤗
The food is an explosion of flavours. The service is excellent. The drinks are unique. It's extremely expensive but totally worth it.
Amazing service, food wasn’t worth the premium pricing. Would recommend to anyone looking to have interactive dining experience.
Spent my Christmas night here to celebrate both my mother’s belated birthday and Christmas. Excellent service, great food, awesome vibe!
Will definitely comeback!
Everything was great other than we had our reservation and got there early around 6pm they told us come back at 6:15 and when we came back they said there was a delay so we have to wait 30 more minutes ( without any apologizing from the host)
Otherwise food was great our server was great and excellent beer and champagne recommendations
Peking duck was amazing
Not enough staff. The server was good but one waiter was serving too many people. We end up didn’t get much service or had to wait too long.
The food was good but there is no surprise for the price we paid.
The food and drink were spectacular. Their version of shanghai soup dumplings with spicy broth was to die for and the Hanami cocktail was superb. Other good items were the signature baked pork buns and chive dumplings. The only downside was I felt everything was a bit overpriced for the quantity you got.
Wait for over an hour for the Peking Duck. The host did not tell me how long the wait for Peking duck was one day before when I confirmed my reservation with them. When we were seated, I was told I would need to wait for 30 minutes. Even though it was a bit rush for my next appointment, I accepted 30 minutes wait. However we waited for over 70 minutes. Broken process and bad management. Hope they can review and improve their work process.
