My best friend and I had reservations to go to your restaurant on Friday night of this past weekend and reserved a table on the patio. We were really looking forward to having our favourite salad that used to be on the menu and was taken off for some reason. However this is not the reason for the poor review. It was just a minor flaw in our decision to leave. We were greeted right away, properly by the hostesses. Within 5 minutes she took us to our table and we were told that the only table we could sit at was a high table even though we saw a better shorter table that we wanted to sit at that was empty but not cleaned yet. We were told we couldn’t sit where we wanted.
Next our waitress came to our table within 5 minutes. I do not remember her name as we could barely hear what she was saying due to background noise and her soft voice. She went through the drink specials with us and asked if we wanted water. At that point we already knew what we wanted to order and also wanted a drink but she didn’t offer it. She came back with our water and left! She did not say when she would be back to take even just our drink order never mind our meal order. While we waited for her to come back we checked the menu not that we really needed to because we already knew we wanted the chopped Asian salad. To our surprise it had been taken off the menu and we were shocked as we had been looking forward to this salad all week. We understand when items get removed from menus but this was our absolute favourite salad and it’s our tradition to order it together when we go out together which isn’t very often, unfortunately.
We chatted and waited for what was 25-30 minutes without any sighting of our waitress. She NEVER came back to check on us, or take our drink or meal order. We decided to leave at that time because the service was so horribly poor and also our favourite salad wasn’t on the menu anymore. We left and said we won’t be back
The nachos are delicious but about half the size of what we expected. The service was quite slow. We were not offered small plates to share the nachos. We had to ask. Overall, it was OK.
Our server was awesome !!! I wish I remembered her name!!
Moxies Restaurant is a great choice. You won’t be dissatisfied
I've been a number of times and enjoy this restaurant. This visit was not ideal - my friend asked for a burger with no mayo or coleslaw, and it arrived with both. This was promptly dealt with but we had to wait. I had the chicken taco, which was very messy - should have worn a bib but instead it dripped on my shirt ...
I've had better meals there, but will still go back.
Great food and service
I have many food allergies. This location takes that very seriously. The waitress and management checked about what my shrimps could be grilled with. I have come here many times as they are so good with allergies.
Mother’s Day great service and good good with nice presentations .
Enjoyed Mother’s Day with entire family. Booked on line in the AM. No wait, and service was excellent.
Great service from everyone at Moxie' s Pickering on Mother's Day 2018.. Had a great time and the restaurant gave all the mom's nice flowers to take home! Food was very good and the young Manager came by our table many times to ensure we were enjoying our meal.. excellent service!!
Always pleasure to dine especially at the Pickering location. Customer service is very good. Ambiance is superb. A bit pricey though but overall a pleasant experience.
The staff were courteous, professional and friendly, the whole setting and umbiance of the place is great, it would be a remiss not to mention the quality of the food save the healthy choices of the menu, definitely I will use Moxie’s for my family and business events.
My mother's day was made. I adored my server. Always excellent experience when I visit. Thank you
Always a good experience at this Moxie's location.
Lovely experience. The service was awesome. Server was gracious. Don't remember her name, but I do remember she is a Psychology student at Ryerson University (this should narrow it down). She was quite attentive to details. Yes, I would do it again. Actually, I have been there quite a few times before and was never disappointed. Thank you.
Celebrated son's 12th birthday and he chose Moxie's! Appreciate extra care given to son with peanut allergy by manager Morgan. Moxie's is by far the most accommodating restaurant to my son's allergy that we have experienced. Becoming one of the select few restaurant choices for family events. Love the Calamari and Fish Tacos!!
Overall no issues. Orders were accurate. Food was cooked as ordered and without noticeable delays. Server was friendly and attentive.
Everything was good but the temperature was much too high. I was on a date but kept sweating so obviously a little embarassing. Good staff there.
Service and food was excellent, server knew we were pressed for time and made sure we were looked after. He paid close attention to our table and even notice we received the wrong size of dessert and came right over and corrected it.
This place is always busy on Friday nights and I would strongly recommend making a reservation. Noise level can be a bit annoying at times, especially in the bar area and the closed-in patio which was so hot it was almost unbearable. The ceiling heaters need to be turned down when the place is full!
We generally enjoyed our meal. The only critique is that my steak was served with too much salt and seasoning. The manager came by and noted my comment but didn't do anything to rectify it. Our server was very friendly and was easy to talk to. I would come back as the rest of the meal was great, just would ask for less salt and seasoning if I order the steak again.
My go to place as usual. Never disappointed. Good apps, food, drinks and atmosphere
This is our go-to restaurant out in Pickering. The food is great, the staff is very attentive, and the place has a good atmosphere. The only negative is that I always find the music too loud, which makes the conversation a bit challenging.
Always a good experience.
Great service food was excellent !!
My husband and I went there for Valentine's dinner. My husband ordered the red curry chicken stir fry. It came without the chicken. They apologized and brought a new plate about 20 mins after. I ended up eating my meal before his. Furthermore, there were mushrooms which was not stated in the menu. I understand that errors happen but we expected more than a sorry from the manager... i feel they could have done better than that given the fact that we didn't get to enjoy our meal together on this special occasion. :-(
Almost perfect but a bit loud.
Me and my friends will most likely not be returning to this restaurant. We had to flag our server down several times as she walked by in order to add additional items to our order. Although the meals and apps arrived in good order, the meal feel sub-par as there was a small lobster tail provided with the linguine, and the spaghetti was overseasoned with herbs. We had asked for dessert and that somehow took the longest, which came out somewhat cold and the server apparently forgot the carmel which was partially hard before it came out, all in one heap. I will fully admit, with my sticky toffee pudding I did expect pudding. I will admit I did not read the list properly. However, what I did not appreciate was the snide remark from the server asking me if I knew what "dates" were. While I understand that I may have thought it tasted "different" a simple explanation of what it was made up of rather than asking me such a question would have been more appreciated. As such, while we appreciated the central location of the place for our girls night, we will not be returning to Moxie's again. Thank you.
Very nice for New Years Eve dinner really enjoyed everything will come back
Grat food and the New Year’s Eve pre selected menu was fantastic !
The only thing I would like to see is especially on New Years Eve a bit more excitement perhaps party hats for kids bead necklaces for adults ? Something to get into the spirit even if it’s an earlier booking and not ringing in the new year at the restaurant sometimes family commitments or work keeps us from being able to stay later!
Will definetly go back next year!
Nice venue - excellent service - all food good except calamari very chewy. Good value for the money!
Delicious food and good service
Would like to go back there again
New Year's Eve dinner with friends. The meal and service were awesome!
Food was hit and miss - Ginger Teriyaki bowl was very salty, medium well steak was rare on one side and medium on the other, loaded baked potato was oddly done (mixed the “loaded” part into the potato then twice baked).
Heated patio not recommended on a cold night - unless sitting directly under the heater it was cold. If you were directly under the heater you roasted.
Service was friendly but needs brushing up - don’t reach across one guest to serve another unless table set up makes it otherwise impossible (ours was not). Hosts should not drag metal legged chairs and tables across a concrete floor to rearrange a setting - there were 2 doing the set up so lifting them up was an option. Save personal conversations for areas where guests cannot hear.
Small adjustments could take the experience from average to good quite easily.
Ordered sweet chilli chicken, calamari, red Thai chicken curry. Everything came out semi warm. Calamari was crunchy room temp, chicken was room temp, curry was warm not hot. Everything else was fine. Tea was hot when I asked if they can make sure it was hot
Service and food were very good.
The menu wasn't properly explained and I ordered incorrectly a salmon entree. The salmon was under-cooked and the staff was very accommodating and promptly presented a new dish with the fish properly cooked. At least three staff members apologised for the mishap and I was offered a salad so that I could continue eating with friends at the table while the fish was being replaced which I politely declined. At the end of the meal I was offered a free dessert which I accepted. The servers and staff are very professional and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for dinner or lunch.
Sister going for stem cell transplant this week so took her & parents for dinner. Waiter was fabulous and manager gave special personal touch (without knowing occasion).
Food was perfect, fire places gave nice ambience, staff great, wonderful overall experience.
Praying that sister does well, we want to come back here to celebrate post transplant.
We found the music too loud. Otherwise it's a great restaurant.
