The food was a bit lacklustre, the chicken tenders tasted about like the frozen ones we make at home. The venue itself is nice, although looks like it could be lacking some attention (lots of burnt out lights in the chandeliers, and overall a bit unclean in some areas).
Service was fast, to accommodate before-game or before-theatre crowd, which is good. But you can get much better food at this price. Salads and main courses were mediocre at best, although the dessert trio saved the day.
I added a request when i booked a reservation online but it did not happen.
Had a reservation, hostess's argument with other staff took priority over greeting and seating us. Music in the partially full restaurant was so loud we needed to shout to have conversation. Server was very good. Kitchen didn't get the food order correct and needed to go back. I've always had good experiences at the other Moxie's restaurants, but I'll avoid this one in the future.
Heading to the Juno’s
The main problem was the music was too loud, we asked to be moved to a quieter table but it did not help
First impressions are important, and once you go up the stairs to the restaurant part there is a sign that says to 'go to the hostess stand' -there is no "hostess stand" so we were kind of wandering around trying to make eye contact with someone.
I found the hostess who helped us to be a little rude, she showed us to a very tall table, my friend who I was dining with is barely 5" tall and had to climb and jump into her chair, so I asked if there was a shorter table or booth available, and the hostess acted like I had asked her to do something so inconvenient to her life--for me it was more of a common sense thing; why would you seat someone who is vertically challenged at the tallest table possible?
She showed us to another table, which was fine, but again the attitude was a total put off.
Our server Dawson was very nice, so that would have to be the one positive part of the evening.
The food was excellent and the service staff were very accommodating and helpful
We were visiting from out of town and staying at the Sandman and that's why we chose Moxie's. The food and the service were excellent, but the music was WAY TOO loud - geared towards the younger set for sure. However we are Seniors and were meeting other Seniors for dinner and we could hardly hear each other speak. That is why I cannot recommend this Moxie's to others.
Recently renovated with a new menu and recipes. Had a good dinner, but prefer the food prior to the changes.
Decent kind of pub food but so attentive to food restrictions and allergies. Always!, we come here a lot for that reason.
My boyfriend and I booked our reservation a few weeks before Valentine’s Day and thought we’d finally utilize the “Special Requests” section on Open Table, and let me tell you: we were NOT disappointed!! We wrote “Make it Valentine’s Day-like. Improvise. Tipped based on creativity. ;)” we laughed about it whilst making the reservation, not actually thinking they’d follow through with it... when we arrived, we were promptly seated in a booth by the windows, and immediately greeted by our server (I’m kicking myself for not remembering his name, because he was awesome!!) We ordered drinks and an appy before our meal, and when he came back, he brought a red rose, and two coasters cut into the shape of hearts, before running off and quickly coming back with a plate of heart candies!! Best Valentine’s Day dinner ever! P.S.: the food was excellent as well. :)
Food was good but nothing special, I'm a big eater and I found their portion size small (I ordered "the burger"). The service was great, very friendly and polite. I'd recommend it because they have a pretty versatile menu with a variety of foods, so its great for a date when you dont know the other persons preferences.
Service was very average. When the food arrived it was not as ordered and the vegetables were cold and the meat was not tender. Would not rush back though I may have caught them on a bad day.
Good food good beer
Ribs were OK, but the bruschetta was excellent.
Food and service was good. However there was an overwhelming smell of stale fish upon entering the restaurant that remained for the entire time of our stay.
They allocated a large room to our group of 7 people which turned out to be quite private and nice. The food is good, our server was very good. The only thing unpleasant was that we saw little mice running from one corner of the room to the other... we didn’t mind it too much but I think the restaurant should take it more seriously.
Our table was ready when we got there. We were pleased because it was a hockey game night. Our service was very good. I was also pleased about that as we had heard other people from different nights complain about the lack of service. I would recommend this place to people. Thank you.
I ordered Mushroom Sirloin with fries. medium cooked.
I got Sirloin rare and no mushroom or fries.
I enjoy Moixie's and this location. I do find that the lighting, at least in the area where we were sat, is too dark. When you have to use the flashlight from your phone, to read the menu, there's a problem. The service and food were great. It was a bit loud and hard to hear the server though and I do think they need more salad and pasta options.
Good restaurant to go to before theatre or sports events.
Food us good and service is good. Wish they would add a few new items to there menu as we go there regularly before theatres.
Went for lunch before a performance we were attending. They ran out of soup at 12:15pm, and when we went to order other items they were out as well. Food overall was good but just disappointing that a resturaunt can’t plan to have enough food on hand!
The food and service was excellent and it was conveniently located across the street from the theatre but unfortunately it was very noisy. They had the music on loud and therefore everyone had to talk loud to be heard. Won't go here again unless maybe in the middle of afternoon. I wouldn't call the noise level energetic it was just loud.
Great spot if your heading to the theatre or sports game. Was a busy night with both going on, but all the staff was working to make sure you had your drinks and food on time.
Have dined at this location a number of times and have never been disappointed. Will continue to eat there when in the area.
Busy night with 2 sporting events but was seated promptly in the back room, which is quieter than the main venue. Food average. Nothing wrong just nor exciting. Could use a little spice. Service was good.
I was intoriduced to the G&T Moxies style...it was amazing! The place was clean and staff were very friendly. Oh and the pizza was wonderful!
We always dine at MOxie's when attending an event at Rogers arena. Food and beverages were great though the yam fries could have been hotter. Not bad though for the price
My ladyfriend and I were staying at a hotel near this restaurant. We entered the wrong door, and sat in the lounge, not the dining room. The lounge background music was quite loud, almost too loud for a date. But the food and the service were good, we enjoyed our meal, then went on our way!
The drinks and food were very good. I didn't like our table set up. Squishy and since we had a reservation it would have been nice to have a window view...not one of the people waiting and the washrooms.
Service was great. Too loud for intimate settings.
Good location for downtown events. Apart from being placed in poor sears, despite having reserved, it was very good.
Drinks were good but my dinner was terrible. Husbands dinner was good.
Late night dinner after a long day of traveling. The food was very good and the server was great! Our server, Dejauna was new to the area and Moxies, she was very attentive and took really good care of us. We would certainly go back for a drink and great dinner.
Great food, good service..not too expensive. Parking across the street with easy access to the Football or hockey game. Well treated.
We where going to the show across the street. I felt the food came out like it was on an assembly line. No sooner did we get our drinks, by the way we waited 10mins before someone came to our table. Then we order a drink and the food. We wait for the drink wait... and then drink comes don't have time to take a sip the food comes.. it was warm to say the least and just OK.. Our waiter was not very friendly to us.... sorry no recommendation from me....
We shared the calamari appetizer which was quite good. I then had the cobb salad which was very good and filling. My wife had the taco dinner which she enjoyed. Service was very good and fast.
We went for dinner before seeing a show at the Queen E Theatre. The food was quite good, but the service was only fair, perhaps because there were new staff being trained (my assumption, they just did not seem very experienced). One of the ladies at my table had her meal brought to someone else, so she had to sit and wait while they cooked a new one for her. We had to eat ours so that it would not get cold. They brought her some french fries.
Both our meals were excellent. Wait staff pleasant and courteous. We were going to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and especially appreciate that this restaurant was right across the street.
