   While staying in the Desmond Hotel Crowne Plaza, I used the Mr. D's restuarant to conduct two interviews. The manager and staff were understanding and accomodating to allow me to use quiet area of the restaurant. One of the interviews was at 12 and had lunch with interview. Food was good. Wait staff was attentive.

   Mr. D’s never fails to provide a delicious meal, great atmosphere, and extremely friendly service. We had cocktails, an appetizer, entrees, and dessert, and everything was fabulous from start to finish. Would highly recommend to anyone!

   We were staying at the Crowne Plaza and decide to try Mr. D's for dinner and we were so happy we did. Six of us ordered four appetizers including Buffalo and Korean Fried Wings, Drunken Clams and Gulf Shrimp. All were delicious and in large portions for the price. For dinner we ordered one Korean Chicken Wrap, two Penne a la Pesto, two Chicken Francaise and one Pan-Seared Filet Mignon, all came out as ordered and were phenomenal. Our server Michael was great, knowledgeable and accommodating. I would highly recommend to anyone staying at The Crowne Plaza or nearby.

   The air was blowing cold air so we moved twice. But they did turn it off. Food was good. Not very cozy. But fine for lunch. Everyone enjoyed their food.

   Easter Dinner with son, meeting him and his +1 half way was great. Food was good. I felt it was pre-prepped and didn’t have that freshness taste admins smell. It was good and treat for us all just the same. It was pricy for that quality.

    Brunch on a Sunday with my husband and brother. I wanted to try this venue and I am glad that we did. They have a brunch menu which includes an appetizer and your main meal, and then your choice of beverage. The pricing was very good and the service was excellent. The strawberry chilled soup was a hit with my brother as well as myself as I tasted his. My husband and I got the smoked salmon and it was very good except we could’ve used a little bit more smoked salmon. My entrée was the avocado eggs Benedict and it was OK. I give it a seven. My brothers was the Panini and he also gave his a seven. My husband got the skillet and he enjoyed it. I would go here again I would recommend it is a nice place to go and have a conversation after mass in the morning or for lunch. Nice and airy dining room however, our table just by the tables design would move if you leaned on it. There was nothing they could do. It was basically the tables design.

    When we arrived host desk said seat yourself which we did. There were only 4 people at the bar and no one in the dining room. The bartender saw us and no one was told we were there . After 10 minutes with not even a menu I went to bar and asked for service. Five more minutes and no one came over so we put our coats on and we’re on our way out the door when a waitress appeared and talked us into not leaving. This was my 7 th time there and it never happened before. The food is excellent there but they need to pay more attention to patrons.

    Husband ordered swordfish paella. Really wasn't a paella, just grilled swordfish on top of rice with 2 class and 2 shrimp. Fish was dry. Very disappointed for an anniversary dinner.

    Swordfish “paella” was awful! The amount of seafood was decent, but the rice part was on par with one of those packet rices, the chorizo was terrible and the olive topping on the swordfish was definitely not a good pairing of flavors. Only about a third of the swordfish was edible after the olives were scraped off because the flavor was left behind on the rest.

    Usually don't eat in hotel restaurants and I am so happy I did. Our server was attentive, gracious, and kind. We had questions about two dishes and she detailed all the ingredients, such professionalism. We had a wonderful experience and because we are local, we will be back.

    We stayed at the Desmond, which houses Mr. D's. We had dinner the night before which was good. I had the grouper. They are understaffed, but did the best they could. Brunch the next morning was delicious - I had the bananas foster French toast.

    Customers were few at the tables. The restraint was not busy…..Appetizer had burnt edges to the pitas that was served with the humus. As a vegan, I’m perfectly comfortable asking for a salad without cheese. The salad came with cheddar on the menu, I asked for it to be served without cheese. The chef substituted mozzarella instead. Ranch was also served despite the fact I mentioned I was dairy intolerant. It’s not rocket science.

    It was a Sunday night and I was there on a 2nd date, so there was no food involved, just a couple of drinks. April was our bartender, and she was very sweet, and personable. The atmosphere was quiet, super modern, and comfortable. We sat in the back of the bar on a very comfy gray couch and talked for a couple of hours. It is a very nice environment for a couple of good drinks, laughs, and conversation. I really like the updates. Will definitely be going back to try the food!

    Mr. D earned a C. Value just wasn’t there and didn’t impress. For example: the Drunken Goat salad was served without the goat cheese. That’s kinda the key ingredient. Some bland mozzarella shavings were sprinkled on to try to hide the fact. The waitress had no idea what gluten was and the chef had no idea how to prepare food without it. Since GF Chicken Francaise was out of the question, we ordered the filet mignon instead. The filet was just over an inch thick. In a lame attempt to make it appear thicker than it was they served it on top of a slightly smaller piece of bread. The food tasted fine and was ok overall - just not worth the mid/higher prices. Mr. D’s just didn’t have its act together and is certainly not the level of dining experience they are trying to portray themselves as. You’ll get better food with better service and better value at any number of restaurants along Wolf Road.

Our Drunken Goat Salad features a spanish-style goat cheese that is soaked in red wine, which is a hard goat cheese that is shredded and not a traditional soft cheese. Our Filet Mignon is served classically on top of a crostini with your choice of preparation and sauces. We are very sorry to hear that you did not find these dishes up to our usual standards.

    Our luncheon at Mr D’s was lovely. The food was great! The renovations were so appealing to the eyes and to our comfort. Our group had a lot to catch up on so we appreciated the thoughtfulness of the staff to let us stay on and on to do so. All and all the experience couldn’t have been better!

    There was no hostess to seat us, so had to choose between bar area and restaurant side on our own. There was only a table near the fireplace which was hidden from the rest of the room. Very few servers. There was a conference and wedding at the hotel, which compounded the lack of servers. When a server did find us, he was very attentive. The place has been redone and is very nice. Energetic crowd. Food was good although small menu.

    THE RESTAURANT HAS BEEN TOTALLY RENOVATED SINCE LAST WE WERE THERE. THE DECOR IS MODERN AND PLEASANT. THE WEEKEND BRUNCH MENU WAS AWESOME WITH BASICS AND UNIQUE PREPARATION. EVERYTHING WE ORDERED WAS DELICIOUS. WE WILL DEFINITELY RETURN.

    It was our first time at the renovated Desmond. We were very impressed with what we saw. Our meal was truly delicious. We will recommend the food to others. The noise level was a challenge. The lounge crowd was very noisy, affecting the noise level in the dining room. It was the Kentucky Derby though. Also right next to us was a table of 11 older women. They were very noisy, and it did affect our experience. Perhaps spacing seating would help. The biggest challenge was the service. Robert was the only server in a large area. The large table was very demanding and demanded a lot of his time. We did not fault Robert, but he clearly had too many guests to care for. We had to wait for water. We had to ask for bread. Once the big table left, things improved. We even were able to chat with him. His recommendation of the Adirondack skillet cookie was a good one. It was an expensive meal. We hope our experience next time will be quieter and that there will be adequate serving staff.
