The ambiance was nice, but it was so cool in there, my friend and I were freezing. It didn’t make for a comfortable dining experience. We had our coats on.
The grouper was a weird texture and not tasty.
Never made it past the hostess stand. We showed up on time for a brunch reservation with my 87 year old mother in law. Were told they needed a “few minutes” to set up. After 15 minutes of no further interaction with the hostess (she disappeared) we walked out. Looking around I saw that none of the empty tables had been cleared and standing any longer was too much for my mother in law (nowhere to sit while waiting). Seems they are short of help. Suggest they remove themselves from OpenTable until they can accommodate expectations of customers making reservations.
We had a very nice, quiet lunch. Very few people in the restaurant. We sat in the pit in front of the tv which was on silent mode (good). The couple we were meeting for lunch was late and the waitress seated us and checked on us occasionally to see if we wanted anything while we waited. Would definitely return.
The food was pretty terrible, we couldn't finish our breakfast.
Atmosphere was exceptional, seating was well spaced out and comfortable, food was good. I modified my reservations through Open Table to add another person and push back the time 15 minutes. They were not aware of the modification but said they would accommodate us anyway? Delay in a couple of items served to our table. Would have been fine but felt like asking the server for anything was an imposition. I didn't say anything because it was Mother's day but after breakfast my wife said something to me about it. Beautiful place, nice atmosphere, excellent spacing, all you need is the right server and you should be fine going here.
Staff was overworked and was totally inadequate to properly handle the volume of Valetine's Day patrons; management dropped the ball!!!
We waited 35 minutes before waitress took our drink orders. The Filet mignon was so tuff it was inedible. The cheese cake tower was a round cake with a dollop of whip in the side. Waitresses were fighting. And it was an expensive valentines dinner special.
Restaurant staff needs refresher training; on how to create a sense of urgency to cycle patrons through on high reservation evening. Some servers need the friendly ness factor built in more. Tables and chairs need adjustment on the floor to accommodate party’s of 2 & 4. Just obtaining an appetizer (wedge salad and rice balls took an hour), seems the patrons just sitting and not leaving had control of the restaurant. Why not a friendly reminder signage before entry... ‘Do to a high volume of reservations this evening kindly be mindful of other patrons who like to enjoy this dinner experience also’...My wife and I need to give credit as the delay in reservation put us the Tavern for a half an hour for an appetizer and 2 free drinks.. thank you..
The food was delicious but there was a long wait to place our order and get our meal. The waitress did not check to see if we needed anything else. My husband asked another waiter to refill his drink. Our meal took about 3.5 hours.
We were greeted promptly. She did not have our reservation through OpenTable but was able to seat us. Their appeared to be only two servers for the while restaurant. Our server seemed a little abrupt. We both ordered the lobster bisque as our appetizer . For our meal my wife ordered a salad and I ordered the filet.
When string at Simpson’s, hostess said we did not have a reservation. Said there was no communication from open table and suggested next time we call her directly.
Although not an extravagant decor, the waitress was 5 star plus as was the meal. The only negative was the hostess!!
The service was very slow. A single diner, and a couple sat down after my husband and I did. They had coffee and drinks even before our server came to get us coffee. Then they were waited on before we had coffee. It took 15 minutes for the server to even come to see us. The single man had eaten his breakfast and was done before she even took our order.
Great service- food fresh, quick and tasty. Portions small for the price. A little pricey. Overall a great meal with great service.
We received our entrees 2hours & 20 mins after sitting down. Just about everyone was pleased with their entrees, but we were all very dissatisfied with the service. We all were without a drink for close to an hour after finishing our first.
Only saw two waitresses & a busser working. We were there just under 3 hours on a night that was far from busy!
The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Grouper Special and my Husband had the regular Grouper. He had the Apple Soup and I had the Lobster Bisque. I could have died the bisque was so good. The Lemon Drop I had to drink was really good too! It was quite quiet and not very busy at all on a Friday night! In our early 30s I think we were the youngest people there. Will tell our friends not to sleep on this place! Definitely a special-events kind of place, however, with the price. Perfect choice for our Wedding Anniversary!
It was an excellent experience at Simpsons. We are long time customers and appreciated the great wait staff that has been there for many years. An added bonus was that we were there for the Friday night prime rib special. We will be back.
We have been here prior and we love the food and we love the atmosphere and everybody is always very kind and accommodating.
I can't tell you how impressed I was with everything. Started with a drink in the Tavern. Friday happy hour has nice music. Me not being a big drinker opted for my Saranc Root Beer which came with a nicely frosted glass. Then to Simpson's. Wait staff was excellent, very attentive. Menu selection is great. I had the Friday Prime Rib special, absolutely delicious. Just nice little touches with warm rolls, pretty butter pats and chocolates at end. Also the chairs are VERY comfortable. Another thing I notices was how clean the hotel looked. I think it is a diamond in the rough for lunch also.
We went to a union convention and after a long day we relaxed and enjoyed the food here. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
Needs more waitstaff.
Staff seemed overwhelmed.
The service was great. The food was great and pricing was good. This was the Easter dinner we went to and everything was fresh and for a large party everything was hot
The wait staff is always welcoming. The food was delicious and at the right temperature. The value is always great and the ambiance and noise were quite acceptable. We go to Simpson's at least once a month and have enjoyed dining there for 35 years.
93 birthday for Neighbor
As always we had a wonderful experience at Simpson’s. Food was delicious, staff was attentive. Great for large group dinners. Highly recommend.
I had the Prime Rib special which was excellent. The beef was very tender and done exactly how I liked it. Vegetable tasted like fresh picked. The house salad was very good and the bread pudding for desert was the best ever! All in all my diet may have suffered but I left very happy. Simpsons is a great place for a nice quiet dinner.
Tracy our server was awesome. The food was fabulous. We will be back to see her soon.
We've gone to Simpson's for many of our special occasions with large groups as well as Sunday brunch and family dinners. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive and the food is always spot on. The menu is excellent and we've never been disappointed with the chef specials. Their ability impaired access is excellent too, easy to drop off at the front entrance under cover and not far from the main entrance. Would highly recommend!
The food was great!! Our waitress seemed more bothered like us being there was problematic. That was the only part that was not enjoyable.
When we arrived we were seated at a table for four in the middle of the room. Myself, my mom and my sister are all, shall we say, "vertically challenged", and the chairs were so low that we all felt we were sitting in a hole. When we asked the hostess if we could move to a booth, which would be more comfortable for us, we were basically told no and that they would get pillows for us. We thought they would be regular chair pads.... no, they were bed pillows! Yes, actual big, white bed pillows. My mom was so embarrassed that she was ready to walk out. We have spent the last few years spending our New Years eve at Simpson's and have never been treated that way. Also the lobster bisque was too salty and the lobster chewy and tough. While the main meal was okay, after the "pillow incident" it just put a damper on the rest of the evening. I'm afraid we'll be going someplace else next New Years eve......
Christmas Eve, prix fixe, seemed like a nice option, but I couldn't tell by the taste that my lamb was really lamb
We always enjoy dining at Simpson' s in the Desmond. The food is great, the seating is comfortable and the service has always been excellent. It's a great place for a special occasion or just a night when you want to have a great dinner experience.
Delishous and huge amount of food. Service was fabulous... mimosas was the perfect touch with our brunch. Prices were wonderful.Very festively decorated for Christmas !
We will be back more often!
Quaint place. Food delicious
The food was excellent and the service was OK but they did not have the reservation when we got there. So it took them some time to set up a table for 10. But we will go back
Loved the "welcome" by the hostess, wait staff and the manager. Food was good as usual and the service was great. Thanks for another wonderful meal. :)
Need to focus on food and service . Did not enjoy it and would not recommend having dinner there
Had the grilled swordfish which was excellent. Perfectly cooked. Moose and flavorful. Being from NYC I was skeptical of the kind of meal I could expect but was happily surprised at the quality of the food. Excellent.
Had another great dinner at Simpson’s. It was a Friday night so I took advantage of the prime rib special. It was delicious. The service by Deb was outstanding. I will be back.
