This was my first time dining at Murphy’s and I was very pleased with everything. I wish I could remember our server’s name because he was so pleasant, friendly, and helpful. We were seated promptly and served just as fast. The braised brisket was tender and went well with the mashed potatoes and green beans. A tad bit salty but still very good. The burger was also fantastic - avocado mayo was a huge plus. Get the lemon Meyer and mint mock tail if you prefer nonalcoholic beverages.
Would I recommend Murphy's to a friend? I'd like to say 'maybe'? My one and only experience was mixed. The wait staff was engaged & engaging. I had asked for a relatively quiet table. No sooner had we settled in with our menus than a large group, boisterously happy, with clearly a lot on their minds that couldn't wait to be shared, was escorted to the only other table in our room. I looked at my son then gazed through the glass paned panel separating our now lively room from the next. It had a cozy-corner/library appearance in contrast to our room - essentially a 'hallway'. I noted several empty two-tops, a small family engrossed in their early dinner, it was barely 5:30. The only other occupants were an elderly couple, looking, sadly, as though long ago they'd run out of things to say to one another. I gazed wistfully at the quiet scene then turned back to my son. In a voice strained by volume required for simple conversation, the conversation for which I had arranged the 'early dinner' meeting with my son, I began. It was disappointing that the hosts (right & left hand) were unaware of the other. Our waiter was the bright spot. He was charming and very attentive. The food was the biggest disappointment. It wasn't that it was 'bad'. It was that $28 was way too much for the small chunk of grisly brisket unattractively plopped in a pool of mashed potatos that were oversaturated with horseradish (not a sprig of scallion or any other morsel on the plate). The mango chicken salad I had seemed like it might have been half-way decent had it come with dressing, or a mango that had flavor. The chicken breast was quite tasty - but I had hoped for more re the greens. The spritzer drink I had was very odd. I asked for cranberry & orange but it tasted like the bartender had ground up a few cranberries, mixed with seltzer and added a pinch of ?cardamom?
I think it would be worth trying again. I know they've been around forever so it must go better most of the time? Valet only
Wonderful and accommodating! We will be back!
This was my first visit to the Highland's and Murphy's. Bar was intimate and a good place to hang out until our table was ready. Food had a good southern bent --- but even those who don't prefer Southern style had good options. Definitely would go back.
The food was great. I went for brunch and was excited about the mimosas but they weren’t all that great. I expected more flavor from the blood orange sage.
I’ve been dining at Murphy’s for many years and it is always delicious! The ambience is always conducive to a pleasant evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our server, Jamil! He is so friendly and professional, just delightful!
I choose for lunch " bowl grain" !! It was cold, too sweet, poor presentation. Due to respect to my friend didn't say anything.
Maybe it was a very poor choice for that day!
We stopped in for a late lunch. Great healthy options. Everything was so fresh, well-presented and delicious.
Great place. Had lunch for our granddaughters birthday and were well pleased.
Food was not as it should have been. We got the Brasied Brisket and it looked like it was scrapped from the bottom and doused in salt.
Delicious meal! Brussels sprouts were amazing!
Our server was the best and the food was excellent. Murphy’s never disappoints.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Never disappoints.
Great server. Really good food. Salmon dish could use more sides.
So disappointed last night - Mahi Mahi was obviously the bottom of the fish barrel. Had I not know - I would have guessed it was a Mahi Mahi knockoff swimming in a sea of butter. Instead of worrying about their dining customers - they sold all cases of Veuve earlier in the day. Happy New Year "uncorked."
Murphy’s was a great start to my New Year’s Eve celebration! Dinner was fantastic, I recommend the trout and the Brussels sprouts! Our waitress was excellent and constantly checked on how we were doing throughout the evening. I hadn’t dined there in years and was glad I made the choice. I will definitely be eating there again really soon.
Delicious food and beautiful presentation. Service was excellent.
Had a lovely time.
Dinner before a play. Murphy’s is reliable—good food, excellent service, very pleasant setting. And, bonzo is the best dessert anywhere!
Service not up to par this time. Table not cleared Burger ordered med rare but came well done.
Excellent food and service!
Good food and good service. Ordered a charcuterie plate but got the charcuterie and cheese one instead but no biggy because everything was tasty. The soup of the day was very good but i would not have complained if it was a larger portion. Otherwise everything was perfect as always.
Great foo, great service, great atmosphere
The food was terrible. Service was good, but not good enough to ask if the food was enjoyable and it was not. Definitely won’t be back.
Decided on Daily Special which was an excellent choice
Murphy's food is delicious and be sure to save room for a spectacular dessert! Unfortunately, the tables are so crowded together that our (excellent) server could not reach our glasses or serve the plates without our helping out. We were crammed into a corner between a wall and another table set crosswise from our table. Our guests sitting at the back of the table were not able to squeeze between the table and the guests at the next table, without asking people at the other table to get up. It was very uncomfortable for everyone at both tables. And the parking situation is impossible, especially for people who may not be familiar with the neighborhood. I would not recommend this restaurant!
Murphy’s is one of my two or three absolute go to’s for a consistent wonderful evening. The food is always terrific. The service is second to none. I like the quiet inviting casual atmosphere. It’s quite conducive to catching up with family and friends. The wine list is always a plus as well. And, don’t forget to order dessert!
Always a fantastic time at Murphy's; not a single complaint about the entire evening
Great food, amazing service.
1. 6:15 Reservation and the evening entree special was sold out
2. My Second choice entree of trout was sold out
3. Requested a cucumber martini with 3 ingredients....gin, lime juice, cucumber “couldn’t make it”
4. Mashed potatoes served with all entrees
5. Sub par for an Atlanta dining experience. Won’t be going back
All was well, except that my Rib-Eye steak, the most expensive item on the menu was so tough and grisly that I couldn't eat it. Because of the way it was pre-carved diagonally and completely unchewable, I suspect that it was really poor grade London Broil. Service was pleasant, but just a bit inexperienced and thin on her menu knowledge.
The English bottled water they feature has been bad for years and still is. Pellegrino or Perrier it's not.
All in all, a disappointing, but not a disastrous experience. Next time, I'll try the low-cost and low er risk brisket.
Murphy’s is one of my favorite restaurants. The food selection is great, service is great, ambience and great !! Never disappoints
This was our first visit to Murphy's Restaurant, based on good reviews and the ability to make an Open Table reservation for Saturday brunch. Expectations were high because our restaurant choices the day before had been regrettable and I was hoping to redeem our culinary experience in Atlanta. In short, we were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome and were seated immediately in a cozy quiet back room. Service was extremely friendly and our server was very knowledgeable of the menu. Lots of great options, but my husband ordered the shrimp and grits and I ordered the Eggs T. Murphy (basically Eggs Benedict). This was the best English muffin I've ever had - so tender and soft! Portion size was very generous. We also enjoyed our cafe lattes and the complimentary muffins and biscuits. Wonderful brunch start to finish. This will be a go-to for us on future visits to Atlanta.
The food was tasty it just wasn't enough food! We ordered the rainbow trait & it was very, very small portion of trout as well as the vegetables on the plate. I'm guessing I had one asparagus which was cut in five pieces, a few lentils & and exacyly two very small pieces (pea size) sweet potatoes. I'm a medium size woman & my meal was no where near satisfying. If I pay $18 for a lunch entree I should be somewhat satisfied. I actually left Murphy's & stop to eat somewhere else. Not acceptable Murphy's!
Excellent food and atmosphere. Soup was amazing and service was great.
Birthday meal was wonderful!
20 years coming to Murphy’s and it never disappoints!
My only suggestion is minor: you all use to have a grilled pork chop on menu, please think about bringing it back! Thanks
The calamari and flatbread were delicious, and very flavorful! The brisket was cooked perfectly and a fork is all that was needed... so good! Brussels sprouts had an Asian flare to them... different and very welcome. The Mac & Cheese was also insane. Basically everything tasted amazing! And don’t even think about leaving without a desert! Bread pudding and the trio... you’re welcome!
Excellent food and service!
Always dependable. Great food and service.
