Opened in 1978 and located in the heart of historic Old Town, Alexandria, Murphy's Grand Irish Pub is one of Alexandria's best-loved and most inviting restaurants. Murphy's offers an extensive menu and top-class traditional cuisine in the welcoming ambiance of its cozy settings.

Our confirmed reservation was at 7:30 pm but when we arrived there, we were told that we'd have to wait at least 30mn! Granted the place was quite busy on a Saturday night, but we were disappointed to realize our efforts to select a restaurant that offers reservations ended up with such a long wait. The food was decent, not good, aside from the fried wings that all appreciated. The staff was polite and pleasant. There was a live band so it was quite loud, but a good atmosphere all around. In the end, we would have gladly forgotten about the wait, had the food been more memorable...

Its an Irish pub on King Street, so it was very busy and crowded. Reservations don't *sound* necessary, but make them. The food is a step up from a boring Irish pub. The service is a bit slow. They were OK with accommodating my daughter's food allergies. Overall, recommend, if you are looking for a more casual dining experience on King St.

Pat Carrol is a reason to come out on a cold rainy evening. The tasty food and drinks compliment the pub-wide entertainment.

Enjoyed sitting outside having beef stew and the salmon special. The special was delicious and the stew was really good, it just wasn't a big serving, but I don't think it was meant to be. They should offer a bigger version of it. Everything was price reasonably, especially a glass of wine at $6.50! I would definitely return. It was a good meal after a couple of not so good meals in Alexandria.

We decided to dine at Murphy's because it was an Irish Pub and we're literally Irish (it's our last name). Great food and loved the decor of the pub. We will definitely go back there whenever we get back to the DC area!

I really wanted to love this place, but from the start our server was terrible, messing up our order, never refilling drinks, and I honestly thought he may have quit midshift since the manager started filling in.

Fun place, fabulous service and great Irish music downstairs. They have other types of music upstairs, too. Great food and casual setting. Brunch is always a go-to for us (white table cloths and champagne!)

We stopped into Murphy's this past Saturday and had a great experience. Food was good but the service and ambiance is really what struck out. They had a live musician playing downstairs and he was phenomenal! Definitely recommend!

This is a drinking place with decent pub fare. Not really able to brag about the food, but good ambiance for an “Irish pub”. It lacks a guy with his guitar in the corner singing pub songs and an old man at the bar with a white beard regaling is with tales from his time at sea…. But it’ll do in a pinch if you’re homesick for Éire.

As always Murphy’s is that comfortable restaurant with great food. There’s not much more I can say that I haven’t said before. But if someone is willing to drive over an hour in DC traffic just for fish & chips and a burger you know it has to be good!

Always a great atmosphere, happy hour is a super deal. Surprised how small the soup, salad, and desserts were for restaurant week. Still a real nice time, food was tasty. Erin was a great server!! Going back in a week for Sunday brunch!
