    This used to be a great place. All your citations have caused you to rest on your laurels. Chicken (pomegranate - what pomegranate???) BADLY underdone. Asked for an additional 5 minutes of cooking time - waited 40 minutes for replacement. Buffet was unimaginative. Soup was watery and tasteless. Dropping the automatic complementary papadams was a really dumb cost saver. You could simply state that they are available complementary if desired. Scallops WERE good as was the onion bhaji. Service was generally good. WORST move - telling us how much to tip. SORRY - tips are VOLUNTARY gifts to appreciate quality and service. Implying an 18% minimum angered us. When we are pleased we often tip at 25 - 30%. Should you prefer to state a SERVICE CHARGE then do so, but tipping is then optional and/or unnecessary and the patrons are quite capable of deciding on the amount of any tip. Certainly, the option of "other amount" was there, but the implication was blatant. Certainly leave the tip line open, but leave it at that. Staying at the top in any service is a lot of work. We are frequently in Kingston and always eat out. We love Indian food and have travelled to India. In Kingston there are many Indian restaurants - one in particular is fast gaining a glowing reputation. I suggest that you take this critique seriously. Richard & Patricia Lyle Barlow. 416-723-8440.

    The food was delicious. Quite authentic tasting. We chose the buffet and all the food was really good, but we noticed all of the other customers, mainly Indian, we’re not eating from the Buffet and we wondered why not? L O L. The service was very friendly, but they got a little bit busy and didn’t always get our things as quickly as we would have liked. Next time we will definitely choose from the menu and see the difference. The decor is really lovely- we sat next to two lovely elephants! The room was a bit cold but perhaps they hadn’t turned their ac off as the weather had just changed. We will definitely go back!

    We were well looked after, requests answered, nice table, comfortable chairs. We used the menu, not the buffet. The food was excellent and nicely served.

    We had a 5 pm reservation that was not recognized by the waiter. We waited outside til 5:10 before it reopened for dinner. (It is closed 2-5pm) The patio was blocked with chairs so could not even sit down to wait...I moved the chairs and sat til they opened. The service was very slow and all but one of the waiters understood English very well. We waited too long for our drinks and had to ask twice for 2 tea orders. We opted for the buffet, new for dinner time. It was good but could be hotter and our plates were ice cold. The hot towels at the start are a nice touch. The staff were all gracious but so lacking in understanding English that it made the experience very difficult. My husband had to ask twice for the bill and did hand gestures to help them. Overall not the best experience. I doubt we will return.

    Party of three had reservation for 7:15 on a Saturday. Took over 1:15 mins for 3 main dishes to come out, it felt like servers were avoiding us too (had empty water cups for 30+ mins and they went around filling up water for everyone else and not us), food came out for other tables that arrived after us. When I waved a waitress down, I didn’t even get to speak before she said our food was next. Took another 20 mins from there. I usually order takeout and will do so going forward! Great food, mid experience in the restaurant.

    The service was awful & we had 3 people doing our table & it was still bad. The waiting time for food after ordering was crazy, 45 mins. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. We were a table of 8 & the food came out in 2s & 1s while everybody’s was getting cold. I told our other guests to eat. My husband had to wait for another 5 minutes for his meat & then 10 mins for the rest of his meal, which was rice & salad. Luckily the food is good, but don’t expect your meal to come with everything at the same time. I wouldn’t of minded if the front service was good, but it wasn’t

    The food was adequate but uninspiring. It was overall very mild, best adapted to a Canadian palate unaccustomed to Indian cuisine. I had a samosa, raita and chicken tikka biryani. The rice was overcooked and too oily, and it was disappointing that it included no vegetables. The samosa was perfectly cooked and not at all oily, but both it and the two chutneys served with it were way too mild. For the price, which was moderately high, and a restaurant billing itself as "fine dining," I expected better. Service was polite but very slow. One member of our party of three was served far later than the other two. If we had politely waited for his food to be served, our meals would have been cold. Instead, we guiltily ate while he watched. Overall, the value for our money was not great. We were sad, because this is one of the closest restaurants to our daughter's new apartment in Kingston (we walked there). She's vegetarian, and Indian cuisine is a family favourite that normally offers her lots of choice. We hoped for better, and might have become regulars if our expectations were met. We likely won't return.

    The waiting staff were very inattentive, to the point that water glasses were not filled, nor was coffee delivered when requested. Incomplete orders were delivered and an excessive wait was required for follow-up. While the main dishes were on the whole very tasty in large portions, the appetizer was unappealing visually with wilted greens presented as garnish. A cheesecake dessert appeared that cut with a chainsaw and was obviously damp from sitting in a cooler.

    Service was terrible, even though restaurant was not busy. Ordered chai tea, three times and it never got-to the table. After showing us to a table , no one st anytime came to the table to see if we wanted anything off menu or just buffet, or to take drink orders. After 20 minutes……. Well on our second trip to the buffett we actually flagged waiter down and ordered drinks…… which took another 10 minutes. Will never return or refer.

    We were disappointed the food was mediocre nothing like any Indian food with had in the past every dish seem to have the same bland sauce. Most of the meat dishes had bones in it. No one cleared our table, the roti came at the end of our dinner so it was useless. That coupled with the many flies flying around our table and dead ones on the windowsill made for an overall disastrous experience. The whole lunch was overpriced for what we received. Unfortunately I would not recommend Namaste.

    The food was delicious. We had Okra (fresh and perfectly cooked), Tandouri shrimp (moist and nicely spiced) and curried lamb. It was a Wednesday night in August, the place was busy with not enough wait staff. The delay arose when we requested dessert. This is my second time eating at Namaste , the other time was lunch a few months ago. Will be back the next time we visit Kingston, the food is great.

    I think this is a beautiful restaurant. It’s very quiet. I don’t remember the young man’s name that served us, but he was a very informative and pleasant. We had the Buffay everything was very good and nice variety I wish there was one dish that was a little more spicy overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. This was my first time, and I will definitely go back.😊

    Washrooms were not working out of 3 only one was working, hand tissues were not present. It's basic hygiene which should be there in any restaurant. Rest food & ambiance is value for money , staff is polite, and service is very good. For Food, ambience and friendly service I would highly recommend this restaurant.

    Service is slow . Food is ok if you arent a foodie . I enjoy indian dining . This is the 2nd worst ive had . The stinky old guy wondering around made you gag when he was close . Please sir you are dealing with food ! Gentle indian music would fit the scene much better than blaring pop music . Wont be back !!!!

    Washroom was seriously in need of cleaning. No way to dry hands. I see the washroom as reflecting the entire service, especially food preparation. Service was amateur, the lady server at least knew the menu. Food was OK though.

    The Vegetarian platter was amazing, the pomegranate chicken was excellent. The service was almost too fast. We regretfully had to rush through dinner because we had a pending movie time, otherwise I would've preferred to stay and savour the wonderful flavours.

    A lovely building in beautiful downtown Kingston. The staff was VERY attentive. Our food and drinks were delicious - arrived in a timely manner - hot and tasty. The restaurant quickly filled up - we were happy we had reserved. My husband had the goat vindaloo and said it was very spicy and quite enjoyable. I had the chicken jalfreeze (spelling!) and it was divine. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed their choices too.

    The food was delicious and served hot. The servers were eager to please but there seemed to be a slight language barrier, nothing we couldn't work through - everyone was very pleasant. We had requested a quiet table by a window and were seated next to a very large family group which was a bit noisy until they left. There seemed to be alternate seating available, so I don't know why our request couldn't be accommodated given it was a Monday evening and we had reserved a couple of weeks in advance. We did enjoy our time at Namaste overall, and look forward to doing so again.
