Every grill item ordered off the menu was FANTASTIC. Octopus, lamb, and grilled asparagus and broccoli were so good. Would recommend to anyone.
Full Orata was VERY good, as was all the food. Our Waiter was very new...it took a long time to get drinks (even water) despite it not being very busy when we were there. It is great to have a an option for good food in the Beach - most of the other restaurants there are pubs an mediocre food.
Not the greatest of areas and overpriced food for what it is unfortunately. Tenderloin cut was not quite what it should be nor the accompanying starchy potatoes.
Made a reservation for brunch, after reviewing the brunch menu posted on their website. Upon arriving, we were told they’re no longer serving brunch and will work on updating the website. This was an apathetic response, which is how I’d describe this place. We stayed for an overpriced and nothing more than mediocre lunch. Won’t return.
Best kept secret in the Beaches. Amazing brunch patio on weekends.
Worst value for my money I have ever spent. Ordered the Tenderloin 8oz steak for $38. What came to my table was 4 small baby potatoes cut in half and 2 x 1 " cubes of meat. The overpriced mac and cheese was very good but not worth $12. We left and went and ate a full steak dinner somewhere else for half the price with a full 12 oz steak, baked potatoe and salad and bread and coffee. The coffee I ordered at Neruda never made it to my table. I will never attend this restaurant again will let all my friends know.
I wanted to try a cocktail they had but they didn’t have the ingredients
I ordered broccolini but it was over cooked
There were spider webs where we sat against the wall
The restaurant smelled mouldy I guess because it had just rained
The surrounding areas looked dusty
The ladies at the front desk had no expression so I didn’t feel welcomed
However the waiter was nice & it felt like we were at a resort
First time I went to Neruda, the presentation was perfect. The second time I brought family to visit on their special day of $25 for the brunch advertised on Facebook. They charged us $35 per person and not the promo price. The third time I went there they charged $45 and the website still said $35. The service and food that time wasn’t even worth the $35. Felt over charged that time. I decided to give them one more try. Books a reservation online. Spent 15 minutes trying to find parking and another 10 minutes to walk over from the parking spot. Once we got to the host stand, found out no brunch was being served. Wish I got an email or notification that it was a BBQ instead of brunch. Was looking forward to bunch on the patio since you opened. Was very disappointed. May never go back.
We went to Neruda on Mon June 24th to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were joined by our 2 closest friends, also first timers at the restaurant. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the hostess and as we walked into the restaurant, we were all blown away by the visual appearance of the restaurant. In one word, stunning. Layout and design were magnificent and this was accompanied by a gorgeous aroma of BBQ food. Very appealing. We were seated at our table. The restaurant was not busy. We looked through the menu and felt the selection of appetizers and entrees was amazing. It was a bit pricey but when you go for fine dining in Toronto, this is expected and we were eagerly anticipating a great meal. From there the rest of the evening spiraled downhill quickly. I ordered my steak medium rare and my friend ordered it blue to rare. Both steaks when they arrived were overcooked and the meat was tough, not tender like you would expect. The server while not very busy since there were few patrons in the restaurant had a problem remembering what was asked of her on several occasions. All in all it appeared the restaurant did not know how to prepare the food to their patrons liking. What started out to be a promising venture, turned out to be a big disappointment. I don't mind paying a premium price for premium food prepared properly but unfortunately this was no where near what should or could have been. The restaurant business is a tough business. If you want to act like the big boys then you better be prepared to exceed expectations and perform as such. Sorry I generally don't do reviews or talk in a bad way but it turned out to be a major disappointment.
I was excited to try this place out, but, unfortunately they missed the mark. I ordered an entree only to be told it wasn’t available, I picked a 2nd item and that wasn’t available either. At this point, I pretty much lost any interest in this establishment. I thought the restaurant would make an effort to make this up to me, nothing. Just a simple, “sorry and please pick something else.” Anyhow, the servers and host etc were well-mannered and were trying hard. This one lies squarely on the bosses. The menu I hate to say is over priced IMHO. Dinner for two approaches NYC prices and food wasn’t nearly as good. I doubt I’ll return.
My family had an amazing experience at this restaurant on Saturday night Great steak, seafood and Mediterranean dishes Service was excellent. I had seen few reviews about the price but I was shocked how reasonably priced this Restaurant was. The steak was the best I had in Toronto my wife had the Mediterranean Sea bream, she loved it. The deserts were superb. I would give more than 5 Stars, if I could!
I little pricey but the meats were prepared and presented well.
It was lovely atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff. The food was amazing, along with the lake view patio makes you feel like if you were in Spain, Italy or Greece! We loved it.
The service was amazing, the decor and open kitchen was so unique. We loved the dry age room. We had meat and some seafood and the seafood was fresh! You can taste the difference. The calamari falls apart in your mouth and was not rubbery-yum! That’s how you know it’s really fresh and not frozen. The grilled salmon is to die for.
Really love the restaurant and staff especially with the nice weather it’s amazing to be so close to the lake while dinning
Great Steak and seafood. Definitely the best restaurant I’ve been in Toronto so far. The grilled ribeye was simply incredible and the bone marrow was cooked to perfection. The service was great. Price range for that kind of quality is just great!
It's expensive, so we think for it for special occasions.
Have a wonderful Father's Day Brunch at Neruda. The food was amazing and a lovely assortment of food to eat. Our server Suzy was very friendly and attentive and made us feel looked after. I would love to go back and try their regular menu and sit on the patio one summer night.
Excellent service, great food. Lovely evening.
Services wasn’t bad but wasn’t great... didn’t know about the different beers on tap. Steak was just ok ... nothing great and very expensive.
Excellent service, wonderful location. The staff worked hard to accommodate our special requests and were very kind and caring.
Amazing as always, steak was perfect , dessert was amazing as well and it was a bonus the raptors won !
The restaurant is beautiful and only steps away from the lake! Would definitely come back.
We (a family of six) had dinner this past Saturday. The restaurant itself is beautiful. That being said it is clear that it is a pretty unprofessional management team running the place and it shows - wait staff were fine but not up to the quality of the location or the prices charged. The fire alarm went off twice during the meal which was highly annoying and distracting. The food was decent - but not distinctive and for the prices charged not really worth the value. The owner was gracious at the end in trying to offer some desserts (which were good) but overall we left with a view that we won’t be back. Toronto has much more to offer.
My son said it was the best steak he had ever had. He also wondered if I could call the restaurant and get the recipe for the Mac and cheese. He had two.
The restaurant was better than I had expected. The owner gave us a tour of the meat freezer and kitchen. Met the chef and saw the biggest grill in North America. That chef made magic.
The ambience was very nice. Had a lovely table at the back overlooking the lake. The service was excellent and understated.
The food portions were very big. Will have leftovers for the weekend. The T-bone steak was perfectly cooked and the presentation in the black cast iron dish was lovely. May have to steal that for my home.
Definitely will go back.
Extreme price gouging at Mother’s Day Brunch. Charged $40 pp for my 2 kids ages 9 and 6. Mandatory 18% gratuity for buffet service and party of 4. Menu on open table showed a la carte items of pancakes and waffles available. Arrive at the restaurant to find no a la carte items on offer. Buffet had no pancakes or waffles for the kids. Very poor value and misleading.
Really nice place to be with great staff and amazing food.
Really wanted to like this place but had such a bad experience will never go back or recommend. Overpriced brunch was $20 more per person than advertised. Manager was an absolute monster when I mentioned they should update the website.
Superior customer service
High quality meat
We didn't have the 'best' experience here. Our steaks were luke warm when they arrived and our server seemed to be so busy (poor guy) that we couldn't get his attention so we decided to eat them anyway. Not all our sides came and we had to ask 3 times for them. The remain side was delivered to our table just as we finished our food - we sent it back! We had to pour our wine ourselves despite every other table getting theirs poured for them - we don't mind but if every other table is getting premier service - why not us?
The ambience is nice and whilst it was very busy - the noise level was such that you could easily have a clear conversation.
The server was extremely nice- I just think he was so run off his feet that he simply couldn't give the top service that he probably wanted to. He apologised profusely and offered to get his manager but we didn't see the point.
At this price point - our expectations were high. Having been to Ruth Chris's, Michaels on Simcoe and others - this is well below par.
Fantastic food. Took my mom for an early Mother's Day lunch and we all loved it.
Might be a good place for dinner but I would not recommend it for brunch. The food took forever to arrive, was extremely greasy and lacked any flavor. Very disappointing experience.
I took 2 of my clients with their wives , first there was no wine in menu that they had! Then we decide to have cocktails the cocktails were uneven and water down , the order couple of appetizers 2 of each to share which they decided to bring half when they even took our plates away , weather got dark and it was no light above us that waiter said the manager gonna come and see u which he never did , we put or cell phones on top of glasses to be able to see!! Never been this disappointed, tooo bad as location is great and has ana amazing view !
Honestly I’m not sure how this place has such great reviews. The concept has so much potential, and I was really looking forward to trying it out, but it’s executed poorly. Mostly our mediocre experience has to do with the wait staff. They weren’t knowledgeable and couldn’t offer any suggestions. The server couldn’t tell which steaks were on our plates when they served us. That just goes to show either lack of experience or training. It’s little things, like when you order a drink and ask for lemon but they bring you lime. Or a bottle of Perrier with no glasses. Do I really have to ask? The food was pretty good, but our steaks were cold. There was only 2 of us so not a big party to be served. We ordered the side of fire cooked greens which consisted of 4 stems of kale. It tasted nice, but for the price I expected a lot more. Should have gone to The Keg.
Fantastic food, amazing service and great ambiance. Loved it.
Food was great but they arbitrarily increased the price of the beef short rib from 35 to 50 which is a huge increase and it was particularly disappointing because we went there for that dish. Food taste was good though.
As per always it was amazing and the service was its usual fantastic familiar self.....so many restaurants now a days don’t take the time to recognize their continued guests but Neruda definitely makes you feel welcomed and acknowledged
Steak was good, octopus was not very fresh. Took about half an hour for our order to get to us. Found it very pricey.
I go out to a lot of restaurants. Service was hands down the worst I have ever experienced.
Party of 7, waited 20minutes to be greeted our table and 35 mins before getting a drink... actually watched our drinks sit on a tray at the bar ... 5, 10 minutes later as servers zip back and forth — clueless
Food was served to certain people and not others as entrees and main dishes were brought to our table. Also different servers were coming and going to our table — as clearly the staff, the kitchen and/ or both lost track of who ordered what!
The whole time the Owner is sitting not 10feet away. Not even a gesture of an apology. He was too busy chatting up his much too young girlfriend!
This place will be closed down in no time.
