New Punjab Sweets & Restaurant
We were trying this restaurant on recommendation of both Canadian and East Indian friends. We had been told that many East Indians eat here and enjoy the food. If that’s the case then it must be good, right!!!
It was absolutely the case. The food was excellent and we would recommend it highly for anyone who enjoys Indian food to try dining here. Portions were large, well presented, hot (as in straight from the stove) and prepared exactly to our requirements. If there was any complaint that we could find it would be that we all 4 diners ordered medium level spice and one of the four dishes tasted as though there was no spice in it at all. This was not a problem, however, it was still a very tasty dish.
Downside was that there is no liquor license as yet (one in application) so no alcoholic drinks available. Ambience not so hot either, the place is a former takeaway restaurant I believe and the dining area lacks decor and lighting that is warm and welcoming.
Menus are tri folded laminated and are dated, it would be nicer to see a bound, fold open menu.
That all said, the quality of the food made up for it.
Service was good, there was no intrusion every five minutes asking if everything was ok and the level of service needed to seat/offer drinks/take order/serve was spot on.
We would certainly recommend dining here and would return on another occasion.
