    A wonderful birthday celebration this evening with excellent food and service. Lauren, our server, attended to my multiple food allergies and intolerances. She checked with the Executive Chef for every single food item we ordered to make sure it was safe for me to eat. She went above and beyond for me and this was much appreciated. We started with the Avgolemono soup that was wonderfully light with the taste of fresh lemon, pieces of fresh dill, chicken pieces and not overly filled with rice. The dolmathes were flavorful with a mixture of interesting ingredients (raisins and nuts for example). Our main dishes, Moussaka and the Flat Steak with Fries and a salad were excellent. Both were very tasty and fresh tasting. We had a very tasty Greek Syrah wine that paired well with our dinners. Dessert was a difficult choice - they all sounded so good! We ended up sharing the Galaktoboureko. We definitely will return to Nikos in the future. The restaurant's attention to detail is much appreciated; from the fresh flowers on each table, the warm welcoming decor (especially on this cold winter night), and the excellent service and hospitality.

    I've been dinning at the group's restaurants for many years now, but this time the experience was underwhelming to say the least. We ordered the Tzatziki, Lamb Youvetsi and the Byzantine Chicken. The chicken was very dry; with the exception of the tzatziki, the rest of the flavors were just ok and nothing out of ordinary. I understand the restaurant is fairly new and there may be kitchen issues yet to be resolved, but I also know the management has what it takes to make this restaurant what should be and not what currently is. We spent about $140 including three drinks, tax and tip (dinner for two). The food/experience is definitely not worth the price.

    The hostess was very considerate and accommodating when I told her we had 2 in our party who would be in a wheelchair or who would sit in their walker (shame on me for not putting that in the reservation). The waitress was delightful and attentive but didn’t hover or hurry us. The food was outstanding…all were pleased. In my humble opinion, our glasses of wine were on the expensive side, but that’s my only negative.

    Portion size is hard to predict and prices are pretty high. Food is fairly high quality but some of it is flavorful and some is pretty bland. Great ambiance and staff is very kind and friendly. Better for brunch than dinner.

    Great Brunch and Dinner! All their food is delicious, service is friendly and thoughtful, and it's in a charming location. There's a really lovely outdoor patio, too - really pretty! Drinks (alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and coffee drinks) are great, too. Drinks from the bar are unique and beautiful! Desserts are DELICIOUS! Great Baklava (the best I've ever had, and the piece is huge!) and absolutely do NOT miss their Caramel Pie -- it's outrageously good!! Each person we've brought to Nikos has loved the food/service/location/decor, and is one of our favorite Brunch and Dinner locations in Durham!

    We went to Nikos for the first time and were blown away by the experience! Our waitress took the time to walk us through the menu and specials, including some suggestions. We decided to split a few of the smaller plates and a larger dish. Definitely overate but everything was delicious! Portions for everything was reasonable and easy to share. Highly recommend the zucchini cakes, the moussaka, and the rice pudding for dessert. We can’t wait to come back!

    Very disappointing. The flounder did not taste like flounder. The cauliflower and calamari were not impressive. The brussel sprouts were the best thing we ordered.

    This was our first brunch a Niko's. We have been here several times for dinner and really enjoyed the food. Our main meals were brought out while we still had our appetizers, they were scattered in delivery and the claim was that the eggs were overcooked. We had to send back an order of overcooked poached eggs and then it was returned with only one egg instead of two. We will come back, but likely not for brunch. We were not happy with this trip overall. They did remove the items from our bill.

    Arrived early, sat late at near the bussing table. I’d wager it’s probably the worst seat in the house, and I highly encourage them to remove it after our experience. Our waiter didn’t check in after 10 minutes, and everyone was in a frenzy. A bottle of wine dropped at the bussing table, and our pants got wet. After cleaning it up, damp towels sat on the ground 10 feet of us for the rest of the meal. Most of the food was over salted, but there was one dish with what felt like no seasoning. Salad was heavily over dressed. You can tell the original plates by the chef were creative and fun. Execution on this busy night was very off though. We’re massive fans of Kipos, so this experience was very disappointing.

    So glad I picked Nikos for my b-day dinner! Everything (saganaki, keftedes, moussaka, wine) was perfection. Karma recommended the fig/feta cheesecake and YES! It was smooth, creamy and dreamy. Thank you to the warm, welcoming and very hard-working staff!

    The food was delicious. Our favorite dish was the cauliflower. The service on the other hand left something to be desired. We ordered coffee at the end of the meal. When we asked for refills we were informed that they were all out of coffee….who has heard of a restaurant running out of coffee??? We ordered dessert, that included ice cream. The plates that it came out on were hot. As a result, we had ice cream soup. Additionally, we had asked that our meals to be coursed out. Everything came out at once, and things were missing. When we said something about it to the waitress, she goes “I guess the chef and I aren’t communicating”. The biggest issue, however, was the noise. While I understand there were lots of people seated (in fact they had too many tables for the space -everyone was on top of each other), they also were blaring music. We asked for it to be turned down, which it was for about 5 mins before it got super loud again. They also yelled “Opa!l every time anyone came in. Overall was hard to enjoy your dinner with that noise.

    I felt like I was at a party - huppa! Every time a server came from the kitchen with a flaming dish, other servers would shout, “huppa!” It was such fun! And I loved looking at the amazing fixtures hanging from the ceiling. This is a really special place with great vibes and delicious food - go!

    Fantastic restaurant! Artistic space, food that is layered with flavor and complexity! This is our second time going because we were WOWED the first time we went! Celebrated a birthday and anniversary here! Highly recommend! Get lots of appetizers, share a dinner, and save room for dessert!

    Though this restaurant has been open for a couple of months, it has yet to sort out its service. Four of us were promptly seated, but not given menus. When we finally went to the reception desk to ask for them, we were told they would be brought to us, even though there was a stack sitting there. It was several minutes before anyone brought them. We ordered eight small plates. Three times waitstaff tried to deliver food to our table that we hadn't ordered before any of ours arrived. Our first round of six plates was delivered more than half hour after our drinks arrived. The second round of one took another 30 minutes, and the last plate never came. (We canceled it and ordered dessert instead) Though the staff was very attentive during the entire meal, we still felt the flow of the meal was rather awkward.

    Food was delicious and service was great. Love the decor though lights could’ve been a tad lower. We were disappointed that pretty expensive yet delicious shrimp appetizer only came with 3 shrimp.

    Delicious food. Loved the hummus, roasted cauliflower and octopus carpaccio in particular! I couldn’t imagine better hospitality than what we experienced with our waitress, the bartenders and the host/hostess. Just lovely humans. Beautiful restaurant-loved that it was well lit! There’s good energy in there. We’ll be back!

    We had a lovely time and the food was amazing, staff so friendly and welcomed us so warmly. Two opportunities to improve were: 1) noise level so high it was hard to converse, and 2) I wanted staff to check in re: water refills, or else to give instruction like “feel free to use our water station…” Perhaps those instructions were give and I didn’t hear them (see item 1). Overall, thank you for a happy evening!

    This was my first time at Nikos - the decor and ambience were 10/10, extremely lively and welcoming. When we were seated, the service was a bit jumbled - we had three different waiters coming to wait on us, but there was a lack of communication between the three of them, because often times the servers would ask us if we were ready to order something, when, in fact, another waiter already took our order. Additionally, in the middle of dining, a fourth serve, brought us two entrées which we did not order. We politely told her that these were not ours, and she gladly took them away, but this actually happened a second time throughout the night. The food was overall fantastic, we ordered three apps, which were fantastic minus the grape leaves, which were not bad, but just not outstanding. For entrées, we got the special short rib which was 10/10. We also got the Parmesan crusted fish which was delicious albeit slightly dry. We also ordered some beer, wine, and cocktails – all of which were fantastic. Unfortunately, when it came time to pay, our bill was much higher than expected. When we looked at the itemized receipt, another other table’s entrées and desserts had been moved to our receipt. When we told the waiter, he was understandably frustrated because he then realized that the other table had paid and left without being charged their full bill. He told us that he would fix the receipt, and when he brought it back, he removed some of the items, but not all of them. We were not trying to be aggravating guests so we decided to pick up the rest of the tab to make our server’s life easier and help him recoup some of the lost money. Overall, we had a good experience. The ambience, food, and drinks, were all fantastic. The service needs some work, this is understandable, given it as a new restaurant, but I do hope this will change so other customers will not have the same experience we did.

    Always an outstanding experience at Nikos. We have dined here numerous times, both at tables inside and on the patio. The ambiance is lovely, Chef has created menus that are a beautiful balance of traditional Greek and creatively updated Mediterranean, and the team is friendly and knowledgeable. The charred octopus is made to perfection, and the parmesan-crusted flounder with the delicate lemon potatoes is always a favorite. But last night, we had two specials that make this restaurant a new Durham fav: a halibut crudo with pickled fennel and piquillo pepper coulis (unique and layered with wonderful flavors) and the 32 oz tomahawk ribeye. The staff made great wine pairing recommendations by the glass.

    Outstanding food and service. Chef Rodriguez and his wife and manager Nelly personally came to our table and made our night even more special. Our waitress Lauren was attentive all the time and gave us very good recommendations. We liked it so much that we went for brunch the following day and the menu was different but equally delicious. We already booked the restaurant to visit during our next trip to Durham. A real Gem in Durham Thank you

    Ewe went for brunch and tried the Fates Awakened cocktail, Cilbir, Shirazi, and the Greek quiche. Everything was delicious, flavorful, fresh. Our server Naomi was on top of it and we can't waitbto come back and try more items.
