Housed on the first floor of the LINE DC hotel in the heart of Adams Morgan, No Goodbyes is an all-day neighborhood hangout by Chef Michael Freeman that taps the farmers, fishers, and small-time ranchers in DC’s own backyard—The Chesapeake Bay—to create an eclectic mix of feel-good dishes morning, noon, and night. Everything on our food menus is from no more than 150 miles away.
Choose-your-own-way-to-dine from several distinct menus and spaces (a restaurant, bar, communal lounge, and counter-service coffee shop), so no matter what time of day it is, there really is no need to say goodbye.

Fun inventive spot, good food, great ambiance. Our server went out of her way to accommodate a group of semi rowdy, semi confused older folk and provided an exceptional experience.

I loved the vibe at No Goodbyes on two previous occasions, when I sat in the main dining room and enjoyed a varied menu. This visit, we were seated in the bar area with a more limited menu, which I initially assumed was just bar snacks. While the food and service remained excellent, I was slightly disappointed not to be in the main dining room (which was devoid of diners) and not to have more choice. I assume the restaurant was tightening its belt and hope it continues to thrive as a funky neighborhood hot spot.

Although our service was excellent, our second visit to No Goodbyes was extremely disappointing. Having been impressed the first time we dined there, my husband and I brought five others with us to celebrate several birthdays. When three of our party received their entrees, the other four of us did not but insisted that the others go ahead. This proved to be sage advice because one entree arrived about 15 minutes later, and the other 3 not for over 25 minutes. This left huge gaps of time in which some were eating while others were waiting hungrily or staring at empty plates. While our waitress apologized profusely and brought complimentary glasses of champagne, it did not change the situation, no manager ever approached us, and no adjustment was made to our bill. In addition, the menu had just one vegetarian option for an entree, which was broccolini that probably amounted to about 200 calories but was priced as a regular meal. The entire experience cast a pallor over what should have been a more festive occasion, and we may be saying farewell to No Goodbyes.

Took Mom and Dad here on Mother’s Day, food could not have been worse! A year ago I feel like it was great, no idea what happened. Lettuce not cleaned, crunchy, hacked up carrots beneath a mushy piece of rockfish, rigatoni, crudite cut cauliflower and crunchy raw ramps sitting in a half inch of watery broth that tasted like white onions, everything tasted like it was turning bad, server had zero knowledge of menu; will not be back.

Mother's day brunch=not good. Poor service. Cold cinnamon roll for a starter brought with main meals. Forgot "mom's" mushroom frittata, then brought it out late and lukewarm. Undercooked and overspiced vegetables in the root hash. Beautiful space, wish the food and service were even decent, but they weren't.

baseline for a restaurant.. warm food - unfortunately a big disappointment for brunch. the restaurant was quiet when we arrived, only 3 tables of people.. perhaps this should have deterred us, but we braved the dark room on the lower level of the hotel to see if we’d be pleasantly surprised. we ordered 2 starters, both came out cold. the server let us know that the cast iron cinnamon bun was in fact supposed to be warm - a warmed skillet came back with a still cold cinnamon bun… the flavor was good but someone just heated a skillet and put a cinnamon bun from a shelf in there. we managed to have a good laugh over the cold bun. The biscuit was another good one… a cold biscuit with a dollop of butter, blue cheese.. and very good jam. I wish I took a photo of how it came out. Good thing we were in a good mood, it was sad & funny all at the same time. the cocktails were unfortunately sour, we didn’t even finish them, paid our bill & went to a nearby restaurant instead. Total waste of $90 but we had a good laugh & hopefully it was just a bad day for them; but a definite a goodbye to no goodbyes for us.

The drink selection was limited, our potatoes were undercooked and sent back, and some of our order had to be corrected or did not come. Those items that didn't come we weren't charged for. Truthfully my party went to another restaurant immediately following our visit and had a superb meal with no complaints.

The food, service and drinks were amazing. First time eating a meal there and it was the best duck I have had in years. The brussels sprouts appetizer was also phenomenal. The value for food was great, on par with other restaurants in the area and very delicious. I've been for the cocktails before and they are always good, but they are also some of the most expensive I've ever had. Everything else was great. Would recommend for a nice night out.

The food was solid, classic American options. The Brussel sprouts and the pimento cheese dip were really good. We didn't love the she-crab dip with the tots. I had the chicken dish which was really good and surprisingly a lot of food. If I knew how big it was I wouldn't have eaten as many apps. I would recommend this restaurant, the atmosphere is fun, especially if you are staying in the hotel.

Server was very nice and the atmosphere was lovely. The prices compared to the size of the food was odd. The frittata was pretty small but it was the most expensive item, which we thought was strange. The food wasn’t very good. The Jonny pancakes were ok but not amazing, they felt really big, they were presented in a messy way and none of the accompaniments were particularly delicious. We were really excited for the latkes with pear butter, but they were over salted, the pear butter wasn’t very buttery and it didn’t cut through the salt and spice like I expected. I hope this was just an off day for the restaurant because the setting and hotel are really beautiful.

I was really excited about this place because I’d been for coffee during the daytime and thought the dinner scene would be really cool. The ambience is definitely really nice and fun so that was up to expectations. However, the menu was very lackluster with a hodgepodge of options, none of which blew my socks off. We had oysters and the herb salad (good - nothing special), the smash burger (yummy! But it’s just a burger), and the catfish hush puppies which were recommended to us after several other items were discouraged by the waitress (very disappointing and just not tasty at all). Additionally, we went for a beer and a glass of cava because the cocktails looked too sweet and were pricey (glad we didn’t go that route). Overall, I’m sad about our experience because I wanted to love it and we spent a decent amount of money. We are saying goodbye to No Goodbyes (at least for dinner service).

I used to love this restaurant. It could have been a bad night for them but it wasn’t a great experience. We had signed up for a special experience menu. It took them over an hour to give us any food. They must have run out of multiple dishes and when they finally dropped some of the food it didn’t match the menu. They tried to pass off raw clams as oysters, three servers came by and said here are the oysters. The salad was supposed to be a bean salad and we were served beets. The server came back to say the chef said beans are in the sauce. The entrees weren’t terrible but most of the food came all at once. They dropped the dessert right as we got our entrees and insisted on putting it on the table. The sorbet was fully melted and it was a tiny piece of brownie. I should’ve taken a picture of it, they should never have served it. We had to laugh because it was just the worst service and dinner I’ve ever had in DC. Needless to say we won’t be going back anytime soon.
