I thought the spaghetti squash bolognese was a big fail. We were expecting a tomato based sauce not a mound of spaghetti squash surrounded by SO MUCH sauteed carrots.

I will say that I am a fan of the succotash couscous.

I can't say enough good things about Not-Your-Average-Joes in Reston. They always have a very extensive menu and very fresh and well-prepared menu items. Seafood items are always a sure bet, but for winter time they have a comfort food menu so I tried their Pot Roast. To top it all, NYAJ offered 15% off your group bill if you are a furloughed federal worker! I took advantage of that, so thanks NYAJ!

Again, NYAJs hits it out of the park with the addition of GF soups like New England Clam Chowder to their GF menu. Thanks, Joe!

Not Your Average Joe's in Reston is consistently reliable. The food, service, and atmosphere are always good. They accommodate my work team of 12 very well. We have both lunch and happy hour here regularly.

For a moderately busy lunch, I wasn't impressed. My food had hair in it, was mildly warm, and seemed like it had been under a heat lamp for a while. We had a party of eight and while I appreciate trying to bring the food out at the same time, doing so only degraded the experience for all.

The food was delicious. Very good service. The staff was very knowledgeable about celiac disease and other food allergies. There were a lot of gluten-free options; even for kids. The gluten-free bread was delicious. It would've been great if they had a dedicated fryer for gluten-free french fries but a great restaurant nonetheless.

Greatly appreciate the booth seating...very nice! Unfortunately the Ahi tuna didn’t have much flavor and the sirloin tips were very chewy. The servers were great!

Excellent food and service! The combination for a restaurant to be successful is the quality of their food and service. The rest falls into place. Never a hassle getting into the restaurant. Always accommodating with seating requests. And, the biggest factor is no app needed to park! Nice to be able to enjoy your food without having to look at your watch to update the parking app.

Waitstaff was great, very knowledgeable and able to accommodate my diet restrictions. Something great tasting every time we try any plates there. This is a good go to restaurant for every day dining or a special occasion, including business lunch/dinner

So I booked a table for 26th December, online with Open Table. In the remarks, I wrote "Birthday Dinner". When we arrived, I also mentioned it to the reception and our waiter. It was an awful experience...... we were stuck on a table in an open thoroughfare, we asked to move & was told that those tables are for bigger groups. She then placed a couple in one!! Water for the table arrived.........................and yes after 20 mins we were asked what we wanted to drink, and food orders. No specials, no bread (which we chased for 4x, it arrived after the main course). One of drinks never came, and yes we did remind them for it (it was an Arnold Palmer, hardly an awkward beverage). Starters arrived, and in 3 mins, so did the main courses.... our waiter disappeared. The restaurant was then 3/4 empty. It was 8pm. Food was ok, we completely left one of the starters, as our mains were going cold. No apologies, No queries on why we left one. Finally we started putting empty dishes, cutlery, water glasses (never refilled) on the next table, as the crappy table had no space. Another waiter then brought dessert menu & took the empties away. We ordered peanut butter surprise & apple cinnamon sticks. They were plonked onto the table, no pouring of the hot sauces over the frozen peanut cake, no nothing.....no HAPPY BIRTHDAY etc. Oh yes, and NO CUTLERY TO EAT THESE DESSERTS with. I got up, went and found the duty manager, and very calmly & clearly explained what an awful awful evening this had been. How disappointed I was, with the staff & food. That is was clearly for a birthday, even in the table notes.
She took off my daughters' meal, and sent a $40 gift card to the table. We returned it to her. My daughter lives in the UK. It is no good, and we are never ever returning.
I would say maybe it was a complete temporary staffing, as the day after Christmas, but I think that would be unfair on all the other restaurants in Reston.

I did not receive the correct order and it took several tries to get it right. It also took a long time to receive our entrees.

Went for Xmas Eve dinner which turned out to be a good choice. Because it is a large, opened restaurant, I was worried that it would be noisy, which it was not. There were many family groups, everyone was enjoying themselves including the staff.

Family came in on Christmas Eve and the restaurant was busy, but not slammed. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server (Indie) was very attentive and even offered to bring additional drinks to the kids as the lemonade was being made fresh in the back and would take a few extra minutes. Everyone enjoyed their meals and felt festive and grateful that someone else was doing the cooking AND the dishes this holiday. It was a bit loud in the restaurant, but we were still all able to hear each other at our table for 7. We would definitely return here.

Sorry, won’t be back. I don’t understand the recent high reviews. 6 of us for a birthday dinner. 2 steaks, both dry and very chewy, especially for Med rare temps. Simple chicken breast, dry and over cooked. Funky flavour. Hamburger was way over cooked. After the food was brought we didn’t see our waiter for 15 minutes. Drinks/water constantly empty. They had empty tables too so they weren’t packed. This was the 5th time we have been there but the last 2 were just not good.

Don't like leaving this review. It's my favorite place to dine. However on my recent visit, the place was very noisy with a football game crowd. We sat the farthest away and it was still noisy. My chicken parmigiana was dry as a bone, which is very unusual for NYAJs. New chef? Also it was evident that it was short on staff. Our waitress did the best she could with a huge section of tables. Thanks to her for helping out with the meal.

It was my friend's birthday and I was told that I had to "book a booth" ahead, although I booked ahead. Frankly her salad was inferior and when she complained to the manager he was "so so" and offered no solution to her entre. I hope you will take better care of her when she is there this weekend with her family for joint birthdays.
