We are here for breakfast and really enjoyed it. We had the pancakes and poached eggs with salmon and rosti. Both were really good. The atmosphere was chilled with good views over Vancouver waterfront. The only minor issue we had was quite slow service.
Mother’s Day brunch. Food and ambience was fantastic. The ribs were sold out by the time we started at 1pm. Prime rib was dry. Everything else was on point! Mother had a great time and a full stomach!
Wonderful Mother’s Day buffet. Lots of delicious choices.
Mother’s Day Brunch
I took my mum for the mothers day brunch and it was exceptional. The food was outstanding and the service was first class. I definetly reccomend oceans 999 for a speical occasion or their sunday brunch. If you love sushi you will be blown away how fresh tatsy their nigiri and sushi rolls are. Worth a visit!
The food was delicious. The opera singers were great. Unfortunately the service was terrible. We had to continually flag a service person down to get any service. We asked twice for water which never came. We were there for two hours. We had to flag down staff to order drinks. They never came by to offer coffee with dessert. There were dinner plates left in the table even after we’d had dessert. We asked one if the servers if they were short staffed and she replied no.
Good selections especially desserts as we went for the Italian opera buffet.
When we booked the reservation, we didn't realize that on that night there was only a buffet for an all inclusive price, but we were glad that it was. There was a great selection of Salads to start, then a Pasta Bar (that had Gluten free Pasta as an option), and a good selection of toppings and sauce. There were also several options for cooked vegetables, fish, and other items. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and efficient. We would go again
It was our anniversary, we always go to this restaurant for our big occasions. It is very special on Saturday nights when there is the Opera buffet. If you like Opera and great food, it is the place to go. But overall what is absolutely over the top, is the service. Smiles. Promptness. Professional.
Sunday Brunch is good value with a good variety of options to choose from. Lucy the hostess has a very warm welcoming smile and guided us to our table exchanging pleasantries. She made us feel very welcome. The staff are attentive, friendly and professional. The young man and ladies replenishing the buffett were on top of everything even advising us that they were replenishing the items that were running low. One of the roasts offered today was Lamb may I suggest you have some mint sauce/jelly readily available as mint goes so well with lamb. They team quickly presented it to our table when asked. The female guitarist Vicky had a nice soothing voice and good repertoire of songs. Thank you for an enjoyable Sunday Brunch
A girlfriend and I decided to branch out and try a new dinner spot. We didn't realize there would be opera singers, not my friend's favorite.... however, she's changed her views! The combination of enjoying dinner, with a program of opera singers flowed very well. The gentleman on the piano was superbly talented. The 4 singers seemed very relaxed and enjoying themselves; we enjoyed the soloists, and duos; mixture of songs, some I recognized from Carmen. The Pan Pacific is so expansive, high ceilings, mountain views, lots of space between tables - a rarity in restaurants. Loved the evening; will definitely be back. Oh, the buffet was excellent - not overdone with fillers; exquisite dishes they kept filling up, pasta bar, tasty deserts. Staff very attentive..kudos to them.
Great location and food, considering the price we expect more variety of foods. They could include more food in main part.
Greasy food. Only few people having dinner. It has a nice view but the food was only OK (compared with other places around).
Our coffee cups had small cracks and stains. Lipstick mark too. There was an empty dirty creamer at our table when we were initially seated .I don’t think it’s hygienic to have creamers already at the table which were used by the previous guests. All the tables had creamers which probably do not get washed after guests have left and just keep getting refilled and reused. Yuck. Our server wasn’t the most attentive. Although friendly when she was there. The selection of food has definitely gone down from what I remembered from the past. Especially the dessert table. Not impressive at all. The overall quality of food wasn’t too bad.
As always, Italian Opera Buffet is Special - we keep coming back for special occasions.
The restaurant was closed but they still had a table set up for us near the window. Overall it was good but not exactly the experience I was expecting.
Good selection of food. Service was good. Server was very polite and funny.
Nice overall selection. Excellent seafood but a few more varieties of smoked salmon would have been appreciated. The Salmon Wellington was gorgeous as was the outstanding seafood medley. Our waiter was very professional but it became extremely busy so I think it got a bit hectic to keep up.
The dessert table was mediocre - for the price I expected better quality tortes and cheesecakes. The bread pudding was rather eggy - no raisins. Jell-O shots were cheap as was the gelatine cheesecake bites which were industrial. However, after the fantastic seafood - we were pretty full to indulge in much dessert anyway.
This was a treat for us and I hope others will enjoy the Market Brunch but make reservations!
I always like Oceans 999, food was great, dessert was amazing..plating is a must for me too..Oceans 999 is always on the top of my list esp. during DOVF..and during esp. occasion or sunday brunch.
Best Buffet and service in town
We went for Dine Out Vancouver, and it was a Saturday night which was also Italian buffet and live opera night. The food was moderate at best - it was tasty but nothing spectacular. I wouldn't say it was worth the $40 set menu, but if it were $30, it would be more worth its price. The Thai bouillabaisse was creative, but slightly off target. It didn't contain the large variety of seafood that a bouillabaisse normally would, but the lingcod was tasty, and the spicy Thai flavour was a nice change of taste from a traditional bouillabaisse. However, the service and entertainment was lovely for the evening and made it really fancy. Overall, it seems almost pretentious to eat at this restaurant - paying copious amounts of money for moderately prepared food that isn't anything new or groundbreaking.
We dined as part of the weekly Sat. night Opera Buffet. We were impressed as it was about 11 years since our last visit here. The salad and dessert tables are bountiful, varied and of high quality. Although there were not many entree dishes, each was excellent. Prepared-to-order pasta was offered. There were ample vegetable choices and the pasta included a whole wheat penne choice so my spouse was definitely happy!
This is definitely a special place for a special occasion dinner and there were at least 6 parties celebrating a birthday or anniversary. We look forward to returning in a lot less than 11 years.
The bouillabaisse is not an orthodox bouillabaisse. It is just a lingcod steak in a Thai coconut curry sauce. The sauce and dish are delicious but it was somewhat misleadingly called bouillabaisse.
The other dishes were good but not particularly memorable. The coffee wasn’t very good.
Excellent value and service for food.
Went there for my girlfriend's birthday. The server was attentive and even brought a piece of cake with candle and a plaque with 'happy birthday' on it. Overall I think all the servers there were great. I would definitely recommend my friends there and of course, I'll be back again.
We tried dine out menu, the taste is good however the portion is really small. Hope next year will be better. Will come back try the buffet one day.
Good food. Portion very small. Bread costs extra.
My parents and I went out for a special family dinner here for the Vancouver Dine Out. The food was good - appetizers like the beef carpaccio was perfect. My parents got two different ones, a squash soup my dad loved and garden greens for my mum. They were all appropriately sized. However, the mains were a bit small in portions - my dad and I got the short rib (I was meant to get a ravioli but they mistook my order) which took us very little time to finish off. My mum got a coconut bouillabaisse, which she liked. All the mains were spiced well and my family loved it. The table we were at were just far enough away from all others around us so conversation was easy and yet the 'dining experience' was still there. Service was good, just sometimes forgetful. Dessert at the end was divine.
Reservation was a breakfast meeting
Nice presentation. Food was nicely presented and tasty. Could have been a little hotter
Service was excellent. Server was friendly, attentive and humorous
Services was very sketchy. Had to wait 15 minutes before a waiter showed up.
I enjoyed my steak, but the others tried the seafood paella which was really just yellow rice and not paella.
Order a beer since you get what you pay for. Wine prices are unreal. They're charging $15 a glass for a $8.99 bottle of wine!! Buy the bottle and it's $50 for the local BC screw top, Pinot noir. In this case it really is beer before the no taste Pinot.
Everything was great!
I loved the chocolate coated texudo strawberries!! So yummy!!
I only went for tea with a friend for her bday, but perfectly lovely environment, our server Jose was great. Would most likely return.
My partner and I ordered from your Dine Out menu. She had a beautiful, tasty Thai cod bouillabaisse and I ordered the short ribs. Short ribs were a complete disappointment. Very, very tough! I expected some fat and got quite a bit more of it plus lots of sinew I couldn't cut through. It was undercooked in my opinion. Very little edible meat could be extracted from this dish. We were staying at the hotel for a stay vacation so decided to eat there too. I expected better quality from this restaurant. Disappointed.
Food was great but they were under staffed
Really a lovely brunch. Really impressed with the food, as it was very fresh. The live music was excellent, although it was a little louder than it needed to be.
Made a reservation weeks in advance for Christmas Eve Brunch - which is also my Mother's Birthday. 48 hours before, I get a call advising that Breakfast/Brunch has been moved to a meeting rooms - too late for me to make alternate plans.
Despite my advance reservation, no table was set up. Dining in the meeting/ballroom made us feel like we were at a convention.
The service was horrible and the food was average...Earls, Milestones, Cactus Club (pick your choice) offers better food quality, service and atmosphere.
Hugely Disappointed. Once upon a time, the Pan Pacific was synonymous with excellence - now even mediocre would be a kindness.
We had a call from the restaurant the day before our reservation to confirm we would be there, we said yes we would and they said that they would have a nice table at the window for us. We showed up as per our reservation and they had no idea we were to be there. They told us they could sit us at a table for 3 and we said what good is that there are 4 of us. They didn't seem to have any answers an quite honestly they couldn't have cared less. At that point we left. We have been to that restaurant many times over the last 25+ years, but believe me we will never go back.
Staff was very professional while still nice and friendly. Food was excellent.
Loved our Christmas luncheon. The food was very good, the view was beautiful and the service excellent.
Visiting this location many years, the pianist is one of the best and somehow the chef did a much better job on the cold buffet than last time we visit.
